  • I find Obama to be a very consistent person. Full of shit before he was president and full of shit as president.

  • Grade A scumbag. Bush too.

  • @machaeroguy *correction* make that 3 scumbags, judging Bob Schieffer's softball, slanted questions. Total turd.

  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of CBS News' Face The Nation With Bob Schieffer's Report On Sen. Barack Obama Of Illinois On Sunday Morning, January 14, 2007.

  • Truthsearch1...I beleive your quest is a bit lost. Obama is not only the Democratic nominee....but on Nov 4 will be the next United States President. Watch and see.

  • I cannot believe he is the democratic nominee! Obama will be a disaster to the USA and this fragile world. He manipulates a FAWNING Media ... The media is determined to have him elected, which is shameful. Obama's associations horrify me (Ayers Rezko, Farrakhan, Wright, Hammas, the Black panthers etc).He has no substance, he will say anything and change any position to win. He also is plain dishonest. A hollow unqualified man.

  • you all should check out RON PAUL!!! hes a true american hero!!! after the mistakes we made last time around its our responsibility to "shop around" for a president... Check him out!!! RESTORE THE REPUBLIC!!!!

  • Obama is obviously a gentleman, but not a realist. He lives in denial. A phased "redeployment" is just an immediate, but slow, withdrawal.

This was a year ago. Now the prognositications of his counselors have been proved false - the surge turns out to be helpful.

Lincoln was loathed by half of the country for leading a bloody civil war. Today he is hailed as stopping the unthinkable - a divided US.

Let's press on to get to that turning point for Iraq.

  • I hate the way Obama talks. Always with the "um's and uh's" Big no no's in bublic speaking. And having your sentences in three word sections is annoying.

"This is what...i would do...uh uh....as president...um um.... I would um.... end the uh uh....war..."

  • It's nice to see that others agree because I can't be Charleston Heston The Omega Man I.E last rational man standing alone against the afflicted remains of a oncegreat nation. wow I have said it over and over again what is wrong with gas for a dollar, booming economy and alies that can say they are alies. Now we have gas at 3.50, weak economy and alies that win election by appealing to there voters hatred of America.

  • "bublic speaking"

    My point is clear.

  • You notice Barack Obama never agrees to cut off funding for the war.

  • With our people are over there how can you cut off funds without bringing them home or at least starting to first.

  • The thing of it is, you can't bring them WITHOUT CUTTING OFF THE FUNDS FOR THE WAR. That is akin to expecting a government bureaucracy to shut itself down while Congress simultaneously funds it. So long as Congress, including people like Barack Obama, votes to give Bush the money for the war, the war will never end.

  • i think to be honest, that many radicals in islam christiaanity and the like dont actually neccessarily really care for it, they just use it for their own agendas. The problems with ths is often they represent a religion and some atheists and many nihilists think this is a good excuse to bash religion. (specifically islam at the moment) the truth is that its the lack of following the guidelines of these religions that leads to these wars.

  • Barack dodged an important question. Would you cut the funding if its the only way to bring your troops home, yes or no? Barack is a good question dancer.

  • Obama is right. McCain and the Republicans are full of old ideas and bad plans. We need fresh ideas and a new direction that will build us not other countries. The choice is clear. Iraqi need to stand up for their country and put differences aside. Little boys must have their toys but Men know how to talk to each other.

  • You cannot bomb a nation into loving a way of life that they have been taught to despise for thousands of years.

The war cannot be won militarily. Obama is absolutely right about this. McCain and the Republicans are completely off in their reasons for war. Democrats who voted for it should also have been more aware of the stupidity of their authorizing this dumb war.

  • Chokmah2, Obama advocates pulling out militarily and aiding them politically. We won't prove anything by staying in Iraq, killing more Iraqis, and losing more US servicepeople. This approach isn't working; in fact, it's escalating the situation. I agree that if they want our help to develop democracy, they should have it. But it won't happen at the point of a gun. I think the past 4 years have proved that.

  • First, I want to thank you for your tone. It is intelligent and considerate.

  • Thank you. I enjoy a political discussion, I only enjoy it as long as all parties are shown the proper respect. I do feel strongly about this issue, but there doesn't seem to be any point in much of the namecalling that goes on far too often around here... Anyhow, While I agree that Iraqis need some assistance, I do not think it is appropriate that it be given in the form of the US military forces.

  • Given the amount of out and out antipathy many Iraqis have toward the US (many of whom, it must be pointed out, did not feel that way before we went in), I would suggest that something like a UN peacekeeping force would be more appropriate, as it would be seen to be less monetarily or politically motivated.

  • We went in without proper intelligence, without world support, and without firm plans, goals, or timetables. And, I believe, in contravention of international law and motivated at the top levels more by greed for money and control than anything else. Additionionally, the armed services and the intelligence services are STILL trying to recruit enough Arabic-speaking people, and how on earth can you judge the moods of a nation if you can't speak its language?

  • Make no mistake: the acts of the extremists are politically, not religiously motivated. Religion is merely a rallying tool for the relatively few crazies, and the extreme and violent ideas expounded by those people have found as much fertile ground as they have for the same reason that Nazism did in Germany - because the people are worried about their future, and they're scared. A continued foreign military presence will do nothing but exacerbate those fears and worries.

  • What I think a lot of people fail to realize is that Islamic extremists, just like Christian or Hindu or any other extremists, are a very small percentage of the population. I hate to bring up Hitler because he's always dragged out in internet discussions and has become a bit of a cliche. However, the reason he was successful for a time was that his government played upon the fears of ordinary Germans and convinced them that the country's problems were the fault of the Jews, etc.

  • If all these people could be irradicated, the theory went, life would be hunky dory. What is happening in the US that really scares me is that Islam itself is often demonized, and by extension, all Muslims. (This nonsense about whether Obama is a Muslim is telling. In the land of the free, where you have freedom of religion, why should it matter? It's reminiscent of the 'JFK will take orders from the Pope' nonsense 40 years ago.)

  • Second, the past 4 years have been very tough. Not just on our troops, but on Iraqis - civilians, business people, those who have become politically active, those who have joined the Iraqi police and the Iraqi military. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are trying to build a foundation to fight radical Islam and it's a very difficult fight. I think American HAS to stay until THOSE people ask America to leave, NOT just to leave because Iran and militant Islamic fascists are inciting terror.

  • The people we have largely put in charge there have proven themselves neither capable of doing the job nor particularly trusted by the Iraqis themselves - often for good reason. Also, and rather importantly, a large part of the threat to the Iraqi people themselves has resulted from our being there. There was no al-Qaeda in Iraq before we got there, and a lot of the sectarian violence has been exacerbated by our presence.

  • Judging by the religious texts of both faiths, Islam is no more violent a religion than Christianity or Judaism. (For example, look at the acts of genocide ordered by God to be carried out by the Israelites in the Old Testament.)

  • if america leaves iraq too soon the entire world will suffer. BUT, if iraq becomes a stable democracy... just think about it!!!

  • Why will the entire world suffer if America leaves Iraq too soon?

  • there will be sectarian violence and more bloodshed. ALSO, it will show that america will not stand up for those who have depended on us. we gave iraq our word that we would help them develop democracy. 12M of them voted, risking their lives. Hundreds have entered the political world. And they are risking their lives and will likely die if we pull out.

  • i like obama, but if you are against the war, don't bankroll it.kucinich AND mccain agree on this....people will hate you if you kill their children and steal their oil,so let's not stay that course.

  • Whoops, he said Senator Cheney.
