  • That Gilda Radner character is adorable! Who is she?

  • Richard Belzer appeared in the early years, but he may have just been an extra, not really a cast member. He sat at Chevy's Update desk for an opening while Chevy was in the hospital after squashed his balls taking a fall.

  • was paul shaffer supposed to parody elton john?

  • The best era.

  • That clip of Brian Doyle Murray was from the Ebersol years - not the original run as a featured played. Just saying.

  • i LOVE Bill Murray hes hecka funny!!!:))

  • Are you only including credited cast members? Because I heard that Jim Downey was only credited for one season but had cameo appearances up until 2005.

  • So Dan Aykroyd is the (I guess) older brother of Peter Aykroyd and Brian Murray is the (I guess again) older brother of Bill Murray ?!

    This is amazing xD

  • @snookerfan75 That's correct. Lots of nepotism at SNL ;). I'm currently in the early planning stages of making Part Two. I'd like to re-do this one a bit, but I'll do Part Two first.

  • @hifithepanda Cool, I'm really looking forward to part 2 :)

  • Anybody else think Al Franken is about as funny as a kick in the balls.Much funnier as a politician.Make me puke.

  • You can go on Netfilx and get the clips for 1980-1985 because they have the seasons 6-12.

  • all the great comedians have come from snl not this BS that takes up space on nbc now i'm talkin from when will ferrell was there to the begining of the show

  • i actualy think SNL has gotten better...but thts just me

  • when is part 2 coming

  • can't wait for part 2!

  • Does anyone know if there is an upload for the full alphabet sketch at the beginning ?

I have not seen that one in years, thanks !

  • And finally, where is Andy Kaufman? He made many appearances during these first five years...just suggestions of course, thanks for posting this great collection nonetheless!

  • Chevy Chase's fiancee at the time (Jacqueline Carlin) appeared in a few sketches in the first couple of episodes of the 1st season, notably "New Dad - Tops in Pops"

  • Anne Beatts did a great sketch in "Speed" which she wrote and acted in from the first season...

  • You forgot Albert Brooks.

  • clips need to be longer to capture the essence of SNL.

  • I'm sorry I accidentally removed two comments about the Season 6 cast when I was trying to reply... yes Patrick Weathers is the main stumbling block because I don't have any clips of him. Unless I can find my copy of the David Carradine show where he plays a young Bob Dylan.

  • That's alright, hifithepanda. @ least u read my 2 commets 'bout SNL's 1980-81 cast, which is da only year in da show's history where 2 executive producers took over SNL: Jean Doumanian & Dick Ebersol [whose real 1st name is Duncan].

  • Isn't there a part 2? Geez I can't find any good SNL skits, clips or amything on Youtube.

  • Still planning on making part two, when I locate some clips of the more obscure players.

  • Thank you that would be very nice. It is a shame there are so few clips available. I suppose a lot of that is copyright issues.

  • Speakin' of obscure, here is SNL's season 6 cast (1980-81): Denny Dillon Robin Duke (1981) Gilbert Gottfried Tim Kazurinsky (1981) Gail Matthius Eddie Murphy Joe Piscopo Ann Risley Charles Rocket Tony Rosato (1981)
  • I can't wait for that next

  • Here is a revised version of SNL's (1980-81) season 6 cast: Denny Dillon Robin Duke (1981) Gilbert Gottfried Yvonne Hudson [Featured] Tim Kazurinsky (1981) Mitchell Kriegman {Uncredited Extra; 1980} Matthew Laurance [Featured] Gail Matthius Laurie Metcalf [Featured] (1981 only) Eddie Murphy Joe Piscopo Emily Prager [Featured] (1981 only, yet did not appear in the live broadcast) Ann Risley Tony Rosato (1981) Charles Rocket Patrick Weathers [Featured]

  • THAT's where my friend got the tomato tamato song from!!!

  • God I love this show. It actually makes me wish I was there. I missed out on SO much cool stuff just because I was born in the 80s. The stupid, stupid 80s.

  • More than you'll ever know.

  • What year wur u born in da 80s? I, myself was born in 1988.

  • same here

  • Love Alan Zweibel, Laraine Newman and Garrett Morris. Ver underrated, but they added alot to the main, more popular cast members

  • 75' until 90' the best SNL with al franken, or eddy murphy, joe piscopo, jon bellushi, gilda! i want the 80-85' videos!! :)

  • I'm sorry to say that SNL has gone completely downhill. Nobody could replace these heroes.

  • would you rather have the jean doumanian cast instead. jkjk.. i understand snl has gone downhill but it could never get as bad as season 6 or at least let's hope it doesn't

  • silverheart, AGREED :)

  • The Ayatollah Khomeini was the Bin Laden of the seventies & eighties. If I could have drawn a bead on his rag, no more Ayatollah. The only reason the 1979 US. Million-man Army didn't invade Iran and take our people out of the Embassy - Jimmy Carter. The day Reagan was sworn in, Khomeini let them go so fast his turban fell off. Hitler was Time's Man of the Year too. Big Deal.

  • If the hostages were freed without a shot, that's good. If we had gone in, thousands would have been slaughtered, and for what? So the United States of AmeriKKKa could show its "might"?

  • Hey, I fixed your screen name.

    ErinGoBrainless

  • Carter DID try and send in the Marines and they were so ill prepared they all died in a sandstorm when their copter crashed. But we stopped supporting our troops after Viet Nam until Reagan took over.

  • Operation "Eagle Claw" included over 100 Delta Force commandos and Marine Rangers. They did not all die as you state. Only 8 members of the rescue team died. They were not ill prepared they only ran into bad luck in the form of sandstorms that clogged equipment, and a bus load of Iranian civilians that they had to detain for a short period of time. Get your facts straight before you spread idiotic statements.

  • Why is the audience clapping at Ayatollah Khomeini's fake snl death at 2:27 when he was named Time Magazine's Man of the Year and also one of Time's 100 most influential people of the 20th century just a few years later? Are they just trying to be funny or something?

  • because he says Wolfman Hakim, a funny take on the most famous music DJ at that time Wolfman Jack and by far the biggest influence on music in American history. Wolfman Jack introduced Americans to Rock & Roll music for over 3 generations and was a national hero. The strict nature of the Iranian govt at that time allows this to play quite well but those were more educated times.

  • Well Time is just a bunch of left wing jerks anyway. And Man of the Year doesn't mean it's a good thing. Look how many times they've put Obama on the cover. And Hitler was pretty "influential" in his day but that doesn't make him a good man just that he killed alot of people like Khomeni.

  • Is General Francisco Franco still dead?

  • THANK YOU! This was truly SNL's golden age. Looking forward to 1980-1985!

  • i love old school snl, nothing like it
