Hey, you did great, don't be nervous. I'm hoping to do some reviews in the future and I'll probably get a bit nervous but we all feel like that sometimes.
Hello, my friend. This is Edu, from Brazil. I few months ago I watched this excellent review you put together and I decide to purchase this camera. I like my Sanyo Xacti very much. It works really well, BUT I'm having a whole lot of trouble when it comes to watching the videos on my Windows XP PC. I've extensively googled about some effective codec but I just could't find anything that actually works. Now I come to you to ask you if you might have a solution to my problem. Thanks so much.
For the SANYO Xacti HD1000 can be bought for about £240 pounds here in UK. However the latest model with many more features; The (Sanyo Xacti HD2000) costs £399 however does full 1080p at a Wooping 60 frames per sec, which no one else can match (NOT at this price anywayz). + 8 megapixel still snaps, Which are Ultra High Quality.... The lens is Superb in both Cameras. David.
I was looking for info on the Sanyo Camera and found your video review. You hit on all the points I wanted to know about the camera without spending hours finding a PDF of the manual on line! Nicely Done.
I was going to go with JVC ... but it still is pricey for what you get.
YOU REALLY NEED CLASS 6 SDHC MEMORY Cards... Class 4 may be a bit too slow - Buy a Class 6 card next time or Sandisk Ultra High Speed II or III cards Depends on how much money you want to spend. Sandisk Ultra II 8GB SDHC Card will be the best if your looking for speed, great value on amazon.
Had HD1000 for over a year and am pleased with it. Replaced Canon HV 10 which had better sound and autofocus, but motion and sharpness better with the HD1000 due to 720p/60fps option. Much better than previous Xacti's esp low light. Make sure you are happy with handling before purchase.
A tip: use the CoreAVC decoder for playback. Even allows slow computers to playback HD video smoothly. For editing use TMPGEnc software. I know these cost money, but well worth it in my opinion.
Thank you very much for your great information about this great camera. I've been looking for couple of months about this recorder, and in May I will buy the HD-1010.
Most of the reasons, have I found by listening and watching to your videos. Thank you very much mate. keep uploading this great stutff :)
You and your viewers may want to visit The Smart Pod channel to check out a versatile camera and video mount accessory that attaches anywhere and holds any camera position. It works well with the Xacti camera line. Please check it out. Thanks.
you can use the 720p setting using the format called h.264 mpeg4, as long as you got software to use this is hi def video that can be downloaded to youtube very very easily
there is 720p @ 30fps or better 720p @ 60fps Please use the 60fps if your x-tra fussy about great quality. You don't need any software at all, the camera automatically records in H264 MPEG4 - even to upload to Youtube you don't need to convert its all ready. @ 320x240 30fps size for uploading 2 any website.- cheers!
hi! great video! I have a question, I want to buy a video camera very soon, I wanna know wich camera is the newest from xacti? is it the hd 1000?waterprof?
the HD1000 IS NOT waterproof NO nor spashproof...! - the 2x new models are the HD1010 and the HD2000 Models, both are great, but the HD2000 is worth a look as its the very best model in the range, however does cost a lot more. The HD1000 is just about a year old and is the better value for money, in my humble opinion. thanks! regards, - David
Yes the Sanyo HD1000 I Can confirm has an external Mic, which has many different settings on the Mic pickup, go ahead and buy, I promise you will not be disapointed at all. What a BARGAIN.!! Thanks for your question friend, cheers! - David.
excellent review my friend. my cousin, whom i currently live with, was watching your review. i happened to catch a glimpse, at which point i was convinced that i had to have this camera! much thanks!
Hi does the camcorder have a audio gain meter/level control?. I am planing on getting the 1010 version and be using it sometimes for filming music concerts with loud sound. Therefore i will need to adjust the audio.
i just brought a sanyo hd1000 2 days ago its totally cool. i found out tho that i need a more powerful pc for it to come out superb. but its all good, ill be sticking with this camera for a while i think.
I bought one of these recently, got it in Hong Kong for abot £250 with an extra battery and 8Gb memory card. I use it for underwater video and am very pleased. Just one problem if you shoot in full high resolution, it is not possible to use iMovie for video editing. For some reason, iMovie does not like the full high res files. Any thoughts or workarounds?
iMovie will deal with every other movie format recorded with the HD1000 except for full 1080i, 60fps. I have decided to avoid using the 1080i format...
To date, I've received over 40 emails and over 30 comments regarding this REVIEW on the HD1000, thank-you so much you guys, its really appreciated. Any Questions I will reply via private message.! - Cheers, David.
Hi Mr.David, thank you very much for posting the useful reviews.I am eager to get the maximum reviews on sanyo HD 1000 from your side.Because you are familier with my dream machine Sanyo HD 1000.I wish you a good luck with Sanyo HD 1000.
I'm planning to buy the sanyo xacti hd 10000 & wanted to know more details about this cool camcorder i will use for the future & just went to youtube & found this clip of you explaing all the info i need to know.
Thank you & u did a excellent info on the camcorder...
Dude -- good review. Don't be nervous -- your simple but sincere delivery is rather charming. My only suggestion is maybe next time include some edited footage of you using the camera in the field (though this will require a second person with a second camera). Anyway, thanks.
Great info. one 40 watt bulb, and you're well lit. That's pretty good. I get good performance from my Pentax K100D at 3200 and using an old f1.4 lens, so this is fairly comparable, so I'll have to for out some money on E-bay. Nobody as them locally.
Good review. My main concern with the Xacti series is the low light video recodring issue which was not good on my old Xacti C5. Seems to have improved in this HD model only.
I thought the same regards poor light recording on my C5 , also the pictue in daylight is very bleached/washed out. I think the hd1000 will make a great second hand buy .
I'm glad that you put a review online...I've read both negative and positive things about the camera online, and after watching your videos, I've just purchased the HD1000. Thanks for your personal opinion on the camera. Its been hard looking for someone who has one and is willing to give their reviews. Great job!
Nice work David, keep it up! I'm going to buy this baby. Do you have any opinion about microphones for general use? You have the Röde shotgun mic, but what about omnidirectional?
PLEASE GO THE RIGHT TOPHAND CORNER you will see more info, regarding the SANYO HD1000 (ABOUT THIS VIDEO) and Ive have a couple links how to get you all to my 2nd review.! - thanks for all you guys support, again if you need any serrious advice Im happy to help anyone genuine! Cheers! - David
Hello folks, because I got a good response from a lot of people, Ive decided to make another SANYO VPC HD1000 Video Review PART (2), because the video file was too big, I have to upload Part (2) of this Video to another website. You get there in 30secs - follow the long Paragraph on right hand side, has all the LINKS Just CLICK.! - Cheers!...David
Good job on the review, lots of useful information for one considering a new video camera. Are you in Ireland? Beautiful country, I spent 2 years there in the late 90s, lived in Greystones, county Wicklow. I hope someday to return and would like to live out my life there. Again, good job.
Charbax, an external MIC exstention cable comes in the Sanyo HD1000 Box, I would recommend using an external MIC for doing the type of interview's you do! another feature inside the camera is the fact you can boost the sensitivity of the MIC to suit your own taste. Also, there are some quite nice in camera editing features!
That's a really cool video. Interesting to know what you think about the quality of the optics, low light performance, low noise and bitrate. I also think it's a really cool camera, I'll look for a good external microphone perhaps for it unless the built-in audio recording quality is going to be good enough for the kind of interviews I plan to do with it during the next couple of months.
Thanks for you comment, Ive still a learning proccess to go through, before I get to understand everything about my new HD Camera. Im gonna take my time, and read all the instuctions that come with it (Sanyo HD1000Thick instuction Book), let me know Charbax when you get your NEW HD Camcorder? Cheers! Bye! Peace... David
