  • how will u download ubuntu without losing everything

  • @amesuyasha What do you mean so you won't lose everything?

  • @batman7381 why

  • @batman7381 What issues are you experiencing? It should work fine with Windows 7 64-bit.

  • Hello i installed it using wubi but i left the size as 30gb how do i resize that to 10gb only thanks

  • @SuperBlaze999 Unfortunately, you have to install and start over.

  • The sound on this video was AWESOME :D

  • @BilboBlaster thank you

  • Is this really safe ? I f*cked up my computer once and ik don't want to do that agin.

  • @Anthestudios Doing this kind of stuff is never 100% safe. With that being said, using Wubi is probably the most foolproof way of doing it.

  • @thejoesteiger I installed it yesterday. Updating Ubuntu is safe this way too ?

  • @Anthestudios No, don't upgrade Wubi. It causes issues.

  • @thejoesteiger I mean, installing software like Gimp and Audacity. Installing drivers and etc.

  • @Anthestudios that's fine

  • if i update ubuntu to 11.04 will it ruin my wubi dual boot? or will everything stay the same? i don't wanna ruin windows....

  • @TheHacker0007 Do not upgrade Wubi. It will cause issues.

  • thanks a lot man....................

  • @hunterjai You're welcome

  • error acces denied , help ! running ultimate 32 bits

  • @ala20011 Is your Windows account administrative?

  • @ala20011 It might also be a problem with your cd. Id recommend downloading the ubuntu iso and wubi.exe, place them in the same folder (ie downloads folder), and run the wubi.exe

  • @thejoesteiger i cant.. permission denied on casper folder\filesystem.squashfs

    why that?

  • @winsevenholic Im confused on what you are trying to run

  • @thejoesteiger i'm run and boot from CD's (ubuntu install and i put on CD)

but, permission denied with black screen

  • @winsevenholic you installed Ubuntu with Wubi?

  • @winsevenholic Id suggest downloading the wubi.exe from ubuntu(dot)com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer

Right click on the wubi.exe and run as administrator. (If you are the only user on the computer)

  • @thejoesteiger but, the problems, is my inet connection cant fast if not use download manager like DAP :(

    so..?

  • @winsevenholic Im having a hard time understanding your english. What's DAP? I say use the wubi.exe because I suspect something is wrong with your ubuntu cd. Or your Windows account isn't the administrator account.

  • @trickstarsym great

  • i have a problem on ubuntu i've not been able to figure out. when i click on places then click on any of the first six icons i get a window.. that says.... . ....(There was an error installing the selected file) {what ever i clicked on} does not appear to be a valid theme behind it i get the appearance preference window that pops up also

what did i do wrong ? what can i do to fix it ? thanks for your help

  • @cntyboy1 I am so confused by what you mean

  • @thejoesteiger not sure how else to explain it's not doing what it should be doing when i go into places then click on almost anything in there i get a different window rather than going into pictures like its supposed to, its either blank or it pops up wth two windows saying : (first line) there was an error installing the selected file. (second line) does not appear to be a valid theme .....don't

know what i did wrong maybe reinstall in the boot menu ?

  • @thejoesteiger Second window is the appearance preference box they both pop up at the same time .

  • @thejoesteiger i left a videoon my chanel if you want to check it out

  • @cntyboy1 wow, your ubuntu is possessed or something. If it was me. i would just reinstall ubuntu.

  • can you uninstall it through add or remove programs

  • @TDUupdaterHD Yes, with the Wubi installer, you can uninstall it with add/remove programs.

  • ive tried reinstalling wubi like 5 times but i dont get my dual boot manager anymore

  • @thejailbreaktuts Why was it needed to be reinstalled?

  • @thejoesteiger i deleted it when my computer started getting lsgish on my windows os and id reinstalled it a few more times after that it was fine until the last time i tryd to uninstall it

  • @thejailbreaktuts Still lost. What happens? What do you want to do?

  • Wait...If u do this, can i access files saved to windows, because i dont think 30 gb will be enough for Liniux (aka if i have doca in my documents on windows, can i open that in Ubuntu?)

  • @mkpres123 30gb is more than enough to install linux. Ubuntu only requires about 4gb. Yes, if you mount your Windows drive, you can access files.

  • @thejoesteiger How do you mount your windows drive (sorry for seeming dumb)

  • @mkpres123 I'm sorry, it seems you can only access Windows drive with a regular ubuntu dual boot, not Wubi. To do this, you go to places, and click on your Windows drive. Then navigate through the folders to your files.

  • @thejoesteiger wait...since i am creating ubuntu on the C drive, cant i go into windows and manually copy and paste certain files into the UBUNTU folder?

  • @mkpres123 ok, what you can do is, go to your home folder under the places menu. Press control L. You will see Location: /home/joe <--just not joe, it will be your username. Backspace and type /host

    hit enter.

Go to the users folder, click your Windows user (in my case it is also Joe), there you should have all your Windows user files.

    I hope that helps.

  • @thejoesteiger THANKS ATON

  • @mkpres123 No problem. I knew there had to be a way. I had just never done it with Wubi before.

  • Thnx !!

& sorry about your vocal cords

  • @bobricuas Thanks

  • Hey I need help I installed ubuntu inside of windows but when I turn on my computer it does not give me the option between windows and ubuntu and just goes straight to ubuntu

  • @ThePincheguey26 This happened using the wubi installer? Do you have more than one hard drive?

  • @thejoesteiger yes with the cd and i have only one harddrive and windows is missing it does not give me the option of going to windows just goes to ubuntu help pleae dude...!

  • @ThePincheguey26 hmm, this is not a problem I am familiar with. If you have a Windows cd, you can restore Windows' boot. I don't see how with Wubi you could have totally removed Windows. Ask on ubuntuforums(dot)org

  • i installed ubuntu, but no internet connections show up, and it says no autorun, when i try to install something

  • @CurtJames93 What type of internet connection do you have? Wireless? Click the network icon on the top right hand side of the screen, select your network.

  • @thejoesteiger i have wireless, i did that and no internet connections show up.

  • @CurtJames93 Do you have a usb wireless card? Secure network? You may need to manually add your network.

  • @thejoesteiger the wifi is built in

  • @thejoesteiger When I mouse over the "bar signal" with a red exclamation mark, it says "network disabled and Wireless networks - firmware missing". im stealing my neighbors wifi. im on a dell inspiron 1545 laptop.

  • @CurtJames93 hmm, not that i approve of stealing people's internet...right click on the icon and enable wireless/network...i forget what it says. My computer isn't on.

  • @thejoesteiger its greyed out and not clickable

  • @CurtJames93 I did some research. For your computer, you will need to plug it into the router to get internet, download and install the wireless drivers for your computer, then you will be able to use wireless.

  • @thejoesteiger thanks!!!

  • help 2.14 when i select ubuntu a message showed up and said to me to reboot to windows and run ---> chkdsk /r and that will fix my problem but this message is still showed up please help me

  • @ManosWwe I am not familiar with that error. I suggest you ask in ubuntuforums(dot)org

  • OK, all, I figured it out.

If you had downloaded all the files onto a USB, copy them and paste into a folder (I just put it in a "wubi" folder on my desktop). Once all copied, take the USB out and run the Wubi exe file. It should download Ubuntu onto your computer like normal. After all is said and done, you can just delete or move the copied files.

  • I have my 10.10 on a usb, and when I put it in and run the wubi installer it doesn't give me the option to install inside windows. Is there a reason for this?

  • @Voltaire7 i look into this when i get home monday. I don't think if you put ubuntu on usb you get to use wubi. I believe you either need a cd or the wubi installer from ubuntu's website. Not sure. Never tried usb for wubi.

  • @Voltaire7 wubi on usb didn't work for me. You need to get or make a cd. Check my channel on how to do that.

  • is it okay to download original iso file on to a USB instead of CD and then install; can u dualboot with this process or do u have to use wubi

  • @thlee12345 yes you can dual boot that way. Its just that way doesnt use wubi

  • the best tutorial...thanks

  • @goginjoable thanks

  • Wubi installs V 10.04? ...

  • @sorryunlucky The wubi installer on ubuntu's website still installs ubuntu 10.04. You need a 10.10 cd to install 10.10

  • you are the best thanks trh

  • you are the best thanks

  • @mrasika12 you're welcome

  • what program or method do u use to record the screen when its not in windows 7? btw thank you! very helpful

  • @118Cheeseoid I cheated. I have Windows 7 installed in VirtualBox so i was able to record with recordmydestop. You can also use camstudio or camtasia for Windows.

  • Thanks Joe. This text to speech is better than the one I was using.

  • @foolishjerk price wasn't too bad either

  • Which text to speech is this?

  • @foolishjerk Natural Reader

  • Great video on how to install Ubuntu 10.10 with Wubi!

  • @johnsonyip1 thanks

  • @johnsonyip1 I don't really like the text to speech but I don't have a choice

  • i send you on facebook an alternative to texto to voice... check that out... or search on google "free expressivo"
