at the end of robo 1 ed 209 was reduced to pieces from the same cobra gun that robo used on him in the auditorium scene. ed 209 cant handle stairs. cain can move up elevator shafts. MISMATCH. The only robot in film that can beat Cain would be the Exo-suit from District 9.

I'd take ED-209 and make some improvements. ED-209 as it is now would only have one shot or one good volley to take down RC2. Outfit ED-209 with sloping armor, twin 30mm GAU-8/As on each arm and maybe two TOW launchers and it might have a sustained chance. If the GAU-8As are too much, two Bushmaster 25mm chainguns instead.
Robocain would nail him for absolute certain and this is why I know...... in the original script for robocop 2 during the last fight between robocop and robocain there were two ED209 models sent in to destroy both cyborgs. Cain destroyed one with a rocket launcher he doesnt have in the final script and the second ED209 gives him a few good hits but he rams his hand through its head and causes it to shut down. I like ED209 and Robocain equally for different reasons but Ed would apparently lose.

209 was protecting a police depot, the kid reprogrammed ED209 and when the police arrived hence the scene that you saw..

It would have been a good scene if a couple of Ed-209s had taken on RoboCain, RC probably would have won because there is a human brain behind it but the scene would have been cool...

Robocop 2/Cain would've won. Not only did he have a brain, and was less glitchy, but he also could resist those giant canons that Clarence and his gang got a hold of, which ED-209 was easily destroyed with.
The point of the cannon references was that Robocop 2 had a VERY superior armor to the ED 209. Therfor, ED 209's wewapons would barely phase Robocop 2, while Robocop 2 will easily manhandle ED 209, or just throw him down stairs. Robocop 2 can actually GET back on his feet if he falls.

have you ever read or looked into robocop to know the reason why they used a human to integrate with a robot instead of making a robot from scratch? If you don't, study that first.
I don't think ED 209 is in Robocop 2 but i definitely know he's in Robocop 3. He's definitely not in the series and im not sure about the animated series.
As you may recall ED was taken out with just two .50 cal rounds. RoboCain took a shitload of rounds from anyone with a gun, including a couple .50 cal rounds when Robocop asked Cain to step outside. I doubt ED209 would even survive the fall from the top of the building in the second movie. Robocain for the win.

there were more like anti-tank rounds, now the gun was modified sniper for the movie, same even with the 6000 SUX was custom made from 66 olds cutlass supreme. 50 cal doesn't have enough explosive power to blow cars and shit up in a single shot.
difficult to say, if it was a regular T- 800, prolly Robocop. But a T-850 can turn a "ready-only" switch off so that they can start to "think", and T-850s can then can battle experience.Salvation showed proto 8xx series which could too.
there's a gr8t video of Terminator vs. Robocop on here, cut from scenes of course but very very well edited. The ones in the video are really a T -800 and a T -850, different Terminators from different films but the film assumes regular T -800

its all about creativity, that is the media's most valuable resource but strangely the least paid for. Ideas, innovation, creativity and inspiration .
This guy did what he could with the budget and resources and told a visually stimulating story.
This would have made more sense than what actually happened in RoboCop2 (in that the police wasted lots of men and bullets on Cain until Murphey got around to him). They should have sicked one or two ED-209s (with rocket launchers and all) to keep Cain buisy. But I guess Tipett and Co. were strained with what they already had done.
But what if ED-209 was built properly like it should have been from the start instead of being made of cheap material just to save OCP some money? That could even the playing field.
ED209 is a powerhouse but it can easily be outsmarted, it has many limitations, and about anyone can beat it if prepared (all Robocop needed to do was bring an anti-tank rifle and that's it) also if it is knocked over, its all over for it.
Between Robocop 2 and ED209, who had more firepower is open to debate, but Robocop 2 is definitely more durable, is extremely fast, and is all-terrain (it climbed up an elevator shaft with stunning speed).
Robocop beat ED209 easily, but Robocop 2 was TOUGH.
i agree, the only reason why robocop was able to kill robocop 2 was the diversion when robocop 2 had the nuke, it made him mentally 'high', not paying attention to what he was doing while enjoying the drug's effects. then, robocop took this chance, found and broke his brain case.
im not sure what robocop 2 is made of, but im pretty sure that it wouldn't stand up to a 20 mm round. for reference a .50 cal is about 12mm. 20mm rounds will shred a tank apart. ED-209 has 3 of them on his arms. robo2 may be smarter but he is still just as screwed.
All modern tanks have 128mm rounds or bigger. 20mm wouldn't penetrate modern armor even at point blank.
I'm talking about basic AP rounds - HEAT rounds or APCRs will do more damage but 20mm is pathetic in terms of AFV standards. That's barely enough for an AA role.
ed 209 was still in development when they were in the original film whereas robocop 2 was finished. So i think that if they had improved some things on ed209 such as the armour and the electronics then it would be a fair fight. Ed209's cannons are way bigger then the cannon on robocop 2

@SharrQus No they used a model of one, the rifle is called a " Cobra Assault Cannon" in the movie, which fires grenade rounds, in others words a fake gun for film, like how Robos pistol the Auto9 is ALSO FICTIONAL weapon is really just a Beretta 93R with an extended barrel. And we weren't debating the gun to begin with genius.

difficult to say, if it was a regular T- 800, prolly Robocop. But a T-850 can turn a "ready-only" switch off so that they can start to "think", and T-850s can then can battle experience.Salvation showed proto 8xx series which could too.
there's a gr8t video of Terminator vs. Robocop on here, cut from scenes of course but very very well edited. The ones in the video are really a T -800 and a T -850, different Terminators from different films but the film assumes regular T -800

omg, why would u compare these two. ED 209 was a failure in its design. It just has big guns and balistic rockets, thats it. It has a terrible AI design, and it is slow as fuck. Robocop 2 and Robcop would both send him to the scrap yard. Ed 209 was the beta robocop but with down syndrome

This would have made more sense than what actually happened in RoboCop2 (in that the police wasted lots of men and bullets on Cain until Murphey got around to him). They should have sicked one or two ED-209s (with rocket launchers and all) to keep Cain buisy. But I guess Tipett and Co. were strained with what they already had done.

ED209 is a powerhouse but it can easily be outsmarted, it has many limitations, and about anyone can beat it if prepared (all Robocop needed to do was bring an anti-tank rifle and that's it) also if it is knocked over, its all over for it.
Between Robocop 2 and ED209, who had more firepower is open to debate, but Robocop 2 is definitely more durable, is extremely fast, and is all-terrain (it climbed up an elevator shaft with stunning speed).
Robocop beat ED209 easily, but Robocop 2 was TOUGH.

i agree, the only reason why robocop was able to kill robocop 2 was the diversion when robocop 2 had the nuke, it made him mentally 'high', not paying attention to what he was doing while enjoying the drug's effects. then, robocop took this chance, found and broke his brain case.

im not sure what robocop 2 is made of, but im pretty sure that it wouldn't stand up to a 20 mm round. for reference a .50 cal is about 12mm. 20mm rounds will shred a tank apart. ED-209 has 3 of them on his arms. robo2 may be smarter but he is still just as screwed.

20mm will NOT shred a tank apart. 20mm was a standard AP calibre in the 1930s. Modern tanks have 128mm ordinance.

I'm talking about basic AP rounds - HEAT rounds or APCRs will do more damage but 20mm is pathetic in terms of AFV standards. That's barely enough for an AA role.

ed 209 was still in development when they were in the original film whereas robocop 2 was finished. So i think that if they had improved some things on ed209 such as the armour and the electronics then it would be a fair fight. Ed209's cannons are way bigger then the cannon on robocop 2
