  • you betta play dennis

  • does berkelee have any piano online courses or workshops?

  • Dennis Montgomery III is a great artist.

  • i am going to audition at Berklee, and i have no idea what to play/perform...i wanna play one of my own compositons...but i dont know if it will be good enough...it says that they want to hear something you are comfortable with, but something that shows your true ability as a musician...any help?

  • You should play something that you're comfortable with, but also something that shows your true ability as a musician, I think.

  • yes learn about 20-25 of the most common standards by heart as they will ask you to play about 5 randomly

  • what college did he go to?

  • Berklee where he is now a professor at

  • man U BAD!!

  • Dennis is a fool on the keys and the hammond point blank!!!!!

  • To gospelkeyboard07

Yes I know. You must know the notes of that key and do it slow until know them by hard. I use to have the same issue when I first started. Also do some finger exercises and fingering technics to get your speed up.

    GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS,

    MUSIKMANN

  • great chords!!

  • I can never do that thing at :36 where he goes up real fast in arpeggios. My fingers never hit the right keys and I'm not really sure how I should practice it. Anyone know???

  • do the triads one set at a time. For instance: C,E,G...then the higher C,E,G...then even higher. Keep doing that and speed it up. THEN, connect them: C,E,G,C,E,G,C....and so on. Practice that slow and build your speed. You'll get it that way. Tell me how it works out...

  • I can't wait to go to college. I don't even know what reharmonizing is. I keep hearing it. Hey, yall should check out ricky draper, he plays a lot of this type of stuff.

  • he's on youtube

  • shreveport la all day long!!!

  • people like him.just remind you of the power of anointing. And Stupid hours of practice time LOL!!!

  • "am i making sense?"

NOOO. i gotta study some more.

  • man this is off the chain. its making me shed harder. i wonder if he has a dvd.

  • great

  • Man, I wish he had been teaching when I was there, but that was like 30 years ago. LOL

  • its about how you feel and what exposure to other music you have. he maybe crazy but you can be too just study. alot of those chords ive played in a classical piece just in a different context

  • He is crazy!!!!!! My God!!!!!!1

  • No way! Is this Gospel? It's brilliant. I have always wanted to study black music. But most teachers are dumbass European classical teachers.

I hope I find a nice Jazz, blues and Gospel teacher. I'm in North Carolina(Lots of black people) I hope to study with a nice piano teacher!

  • just check out the lessons here on youtube. And listen to a lot of the music...the harmonic concepts are essentially the same. 4 and 5 chords still resolve to 1 and half step and 5th motion are strong. Getting a teacher is good..but you should really just start listening and trying to copy what you see and hear first. A more organic process. Because that's how a lot of Black church musicians learn. oral tradition.

  • NOOO WAAAAYYY I sang this with my church choir at a service last Nov, and how weird is this, I live in London but my cuz from Thailand lives in Berklee and the one time I flew to Boston was during Jazz festival and I'd never been to Berklee College.Seems like I need a smack in the face for sleepin on this guy!!!!

  • where does he teach at?

  • Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA

  • Brilliant video

  • Please chop his hands OFF... SOMEBODY!!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!! lol Dennis makes me SICK!!!!! I never could understand where he comes up with his chord ideas!!!! Looked like y'all was crammed up in 1 of them lil practice rooms on Mass Ave cuz I hear the organ next door LMAO!!!!

  • nah...we were in one of the classrooms in the 1140 Bldg...the classroom has 2 grands, 2 B3s and a bunch of motif 8s...dennis teaches a gospel piano/organ teachniques class at berklee now...its been a while since youve been on berklees campus...huh brandon?
