Gays should still be cautious of who they tell. My mother told me on her death bed that she felt shame for me being a "deviant" - even though I did more to care for her than my brother. It also cost me the free education that my brother got. I'm not saying not to come out to your families but that it is a very personal choice and timing - such as how financially dependent are you is an important variable. Despite this it life is better - I have a "chosen family". Screw biological connections.
@RicosDomeTown The only guarantee you can give young gay men is that the physical violence will greatly decrease. I was physically beaten up on a daily basis at school and on a weekly basis at home. When I left at 17 (back in the 70s) I got bashed a few times (once by a cop) but these incidents were far less than when I lived in a small community. Now in these modern times I haven't received physical violence in close to 2 decades. It's still in the back of my mind but it is better than before.
it will get better once you stop shoving things up your butts and let it heal.
