Alrighty, so here's the deal...I'm 20, was raised on Rock n' Fuckin' Roll from the 60's-early 80's and classical/orchestral music. I play various brass instruments and all kinds o' percussive things mainly my drum-set. I like to think I can feel a good song when I hear one. Based on the lyrics here this song should seem somewhat emotional and deep, but I get nothing from it and musically I find it rather boring and repetitive. Maybe I'm just not in the niche I need to be in, I dunno.

@DiscoFunktikonikyte this honestly seems to be the case for me with the greater majority of this genre of modern rock and almost any pop/metal/whatever kinda rock this is. For whatever reason, modern rock differs from the Hard hitting Rock bands from the 60's and 70's and it just doesn't strike me as good....can people please help me clarify what sort of evolution Rock has gone through since then to where it is now so I may be able to get past the road block in my head?

I'm a 17 year old youngster, and I've grown up within the late 1990's and early 2000's metal music, for that's all I constantly heard in my childhood thanks to my older brother. But from years of listening to the evolved form of older music, it's has evolved to grab people's attention in the instant they listen to a song.

Well not saying that I perfectly understand the concepts of music composition, but younger people don't get interested in all that oldies rock and even classical songs like the Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, which is a great piece and one of my favorites. I guess I can say that most people nowadays don't pay attention to the ways these older artist structured their compositions a certain way, but how it sounds itself.

@DiscoFunktikonikyte Music nowadays has a way to capture the audience, not by emphasizing the structure, but how it sounds. Metal is known to be the musical genre with the loud noisy guitar, distorted screaming, fast drumming, etc. And many people do like that strangely. Another way bands attract people is with lyrics and the mood. People can relate to lyrics, therefore liking the song. It's all in trying to make as many fans, so a band keep these elements in mind when creating an album.

@DiscoFunktikonikyte I personally look for riffs and elaborate solos, and well as how meaningful lyrics to a song is to me. A good band, and my favorite, is Darkest Hour. Back when i was in 6th grade, that's all i kept listening to, and i still keep in touch, for their best albums that can be known as Metal is their albums called 'Undoing Ruin' and 'Deliver Us'. The solos are very intriguing and lyrics are easy to relate to, in my case.

@DiscoFunktikonikyte Idk why the repetition is common. I also find that boring, i know the band members would get annoyed and bored themselves playing the same stuff within one song. Maybe to emphasize, but what is there to emphasize? This is my thought, and i bet there's bands out there that make music for themselves and not for people to lie, but modern music is mostly made the way its made for one goal: to attract fans.
