yeah dude ha posted a while back that i wanted to see a stella was a diver and that i would die happy if i drum to that song ha i guess you would too. anyways love the pda cover my leg gets tired though haha, do you have an obstacle 1 cover? i really cannot do the bass drum part all that well, its killing me!
i am going to buy drums soon hopefully...so i was wondering if this song is playable with only 2 crash cymbals and the hi-hat...or do i need that third cymbal that you used a lot?
That 3rd cymbal you are referring to is called the ''ride cymbal'' and is/should be one of the main components of the drumset as it is used the same way that the hihat does but we use the ride for higher pitch sounds. A good idea is to buy a crash/ride cymbal (2 in one) which can be used for both purposes so you'll have one less cymbal hanging around too. Mine is just ride cymbal so it doesn't have the crash sound that's why i have 2 other crashes. Hope that helps! Thanks for the comment!
Also another good idea is to buy a combo cymbals pack like i did which includes either 3 cymbals (hihat-crash and a crash/ride) or 4 cymbals (hihat - 1st crash- 2nd crash and a ride). All the cymbal manufacturers have these in their product range. You can check zildjian, paiste, meinl or sabian (biggest cymbal manufacturers) for that packs!
so lets say i bought a package with one hihat and a crash/ride cymbal...i will have one less crash than you, so how will i play songs that need the 2nd crash cymbal?
thanks for the reply and sorry for the noob questions...its because i am a noob =P
There's not noob questions! It's natural you don't know. I was in your position a year ago. :) Now, regarding your question, the crash/ride cymbal works as a ride when you ride it (by saying ride it, i mean you hit it gently like you would have done with a hihat or a simple ride cymbal) but when you hit it hard, it makes that crash sound as if it was a crash cymbal.
In my opinion of course, it's better to have each cymbal ''assigned'' for a task, that's why i bought 4 cymbals,
....but that's my humble opinion. Many youtubers use crash/ride cymbals and do an excellent job. You can check for example the user: leperm which has a crash/ride cymbal in his videos and that guy really rocks the hell out of it!!! :)
Good morning! My crashes have been tested both when tightened and loosened up, but the thing is i don't hit them too hard so i won't disturb my neighbours. You see i live in the ground floor of a 5 floor building block and i wouldn't want the cops over :)
Thanks mate! Yeah, i'm aware of the tight wrists issue as i'm only a beginner, but i find myself more relaxed day after day. It's all a matter of confidence as it seems. Thanks once again for your comment!
Hi, i've been playing since January 2008. The kit you see was bought on August. But i only manage to play perhaps 3-4 hours tops per week since i have a very busy schedule and work load....unfortunately. The track is pretty simple and was the 3rd song i managed to learn. Try it a few times and you'll see for yourself the simplicity yet the greatness of this track! Good Luck!
Hi, i use Zildjan ZXT series. All the cymbals that you see were part of the Zildjian ZXT combo pack. You can check my profile page for more info on dimensions and others if you like.
nice check out mine!

I am trying obstacle 1 myself, but the bass drum is a bit tricky and i haven't yet gained a complete right arm-right foot independence.
