I go to Macalester. I was just walking around and I found this siren and recognized it as a thunderbolt. I'm gonna go stand under it when they test it this week. First wednesday! Whoo!
are all rotating one thunderbolts if so alexandria has like 4 of them if not more.. I know the one above the fire staion can be heard for miles around.
Cheetawolf is right, there are a lot of rotating. There are only 2 types of sirens, Omni-Directional and Rotational. Omni sirens do not rotate, they usually have many ports, AKA horns. Ones like these, rotate and sound instead of stay in place.
Hello! I had no idea that there was interest in sirens. I was just wondering where the interest comes from. Interest in weather? Just sirens? I am very curious!
Oh I know that one They have mostly thunderbolts and I have seen at least 3 sth 10's two on the east side one downtown and a thunderbeam on dale and university
Thanks! My friend (who's voice is heard in the video) recommended that we see this siren. He also filmed it. He had his camera and a microphone plugged into his laptop! I hope to hear how his recording turned out!

Awesome video!
Is that an EOWS 612 next to it, or a sign?
Sirenssneris 3 years ago
Thanks!
What you see next to the siren is just a cluster of stadium lights. It would be pretty neat if it was a 612.

It would, and forgot to say, that Thunderbolt sounds healthy!

Now that is a very nice sounding attack signal. T-bolts probably have one of the best attack signals when set at the right chopper level.

Yes, it is.

There's another one on top of the Horticulture building on the state fairgrounds.
It's actually the first of this type I've ever heard.

Sounds like the thunderbolt on the Wichita State Univ. campus.

Dude, the recording's done, I just gotta come over with my laptop.
I heard this siren years ago, but I pushed play instead of record, and I was subsequently pissed.

I have a Thunderbolt 1000 on YouTube too. Those are awesome!

Great job on your first siren video. That Thunderbolt 1000 sounds very healthy.
