IN one point you're right, but a manual gearbox can let you change the car's behavior. Good drivers, can for example kill the understeer in a corner entrance. You you search, Jason plato, compred the manual cayman vs the PDK manual, in a very narrow and twisty track, and the manual was fastest by half a second, just because the manual is lighter and let the driver play a bit more with the car's behaviour.

But yes, it's a driver choice, of course.

ya it's easy to spot it, my mother has a e46 smgII M3 and you can hear that typical "BAM" in the back of the car everytime you shift
