the hybrid is stupid, what it does to increase mpg is only on stop and go on in the city driving thats why they say its 50 mpg. but drive it on the highway and in order to charge that batery the engine needs to do it which puts a extra load on the engine thus this is why the mpg is much lower. if you look at the website of a prius it may say 50/48 high to city repect. but this is only an estimate meaning not in a real world everyday enviornment. theoretic. look up other peoples real experiences

Hybrids can use electricity. Electricity is generated mainly by burning fossil fuels or by nuclear reactors. So...if hybrids are going to mean less fossil fuel consumption there will need to be many many more nuclear reactors to generate the needed electricity.

Haha. I've seen that episode of South Park. But anyway, I have two cars. A Nissan 350z and a Toyota Prius, and I can tell you first hand that there is a HUGE difference in "mpg" among the two.

In a good summer day my average is about 580Miles to the tank, and the tank is only 10 Gallons. To where my Nissan 350z gets only about 400 Miles to an 18 gallon tank, in any weather; sunny or not.

Well Top Gear proved that it does more damage to the world to actually make a hybrid than a normal car, plus last week they had three cars that are more efficient than a hybrid, or at least one of them anyway. I had a 2006 ford focus 1.6 TDCi which gave me over 70 mpg on the motorway and usually over 40 mpg in town. Why not make a diesel hybrid?

American manufacturers get NO CREDIT for their hybrid efforts. FORD produces the most fuel efficient SUV in the world, the Escape Hybrid, not to mention it is attractive and actually functional, very much unlike the ugly ass Toyota Prius's I see everywhere. Honda as a couple normal looking hybrids, but you have to pay out the ass for them. You can literally go to a Ford dealership and drive an Escape off the floor, whereas you have to wait for the UGLY AS SIN Prius. It's like a rolling turd.
