Hippie, like beatnick, was a term made up by the media. The Sixties were a tumultuous time ad Woodstock was a too brief moment of repose before the downward slide of what we now call culture and civilization. It was a beautiful moment that was extinguished by Altamont, Manson, and Nixon. The festival could have been a real disaster had not the "straight" world (doctors, etc.) helped contain the health hazards that could have occurred. God, smiled down on Bethel for those three days.
Your just somebody who gets offended by everything. Gets bent out on nothing.
I said nothing about you, I don't know you, yet you took it personally. Then had to say that I can't spell.... which is irrelevant, not that I care anyway.
Just listen to the music and chill out. Light up a j or something
YOU are the one who opened the can of worms saying the crowd "looked awful". I'm speaking for everyone there. You, obviously, don't think before you open your mouth or write something. You offended a whole bunch of people, not just me. GROW UP! "Let It Be".
And I understand the concept of peace love and music. I've been to festival's all over the country. I've realized that as people, at people, at least at this moment, are not even close to the mindset of the people at woodstock.
No, you don't understand the concept of peace, love and music-just because you've been to festivals all over the country. You have a lot of growing up to do. As I said, you just make yourself look bad - in so many ways.
Believe me, I HAVE moved on - but you should go back to school - your spelling & grammar are terrible - plus your mindset. You just made yourself look bad. The point of Woodstock was the peace, love & music - but you, obviously, don't understand that by what you write.
Lol, you gotta chill out.You say you've moved on, but you haven't. My spelling and grammar are terrible? I left out a few commas, this isn't exactly an essay for english class.
And I do. But, it's completely different. Many people at that probably don't even know much music. They just wanted to feel part of the original. And I'm not hating on that, just saying I'm fine with not going.
People aren't the same today, the world isn't the same. Bu people aren't understanding that. That was the point of woodstock. The music and the vibes.
Everyone was chill. You wouldn't understand I guess.
Everybody gets super offended, than tells me that I'm going to be ugly and karma will kill me.
So there we are. I love everyone, I make observations.
But people can't handle that. We're not in the same mindset we were then. Everyone and their ignorance these days.
I was there on August 15, 2009 and I'm in this video. I had the BEST time and so did everyone else who was there. I couldn't get there for 40 years but, boy, did I have a BLAST when I went! I met some of the nicest people there from all over the country - especially Duke Devlin and Patrick Colluci. The EIGHT hour concert was GREAT! I stayed till the end and got The Levon Helm set list from the stage from one of the crew. It's true - once you go there, you're never the same! Peace!
This video is fun, but misses many highlights. For one, Superfly Shiho was very good (and nice to look at), but she only sang 2 numbers, and the gal that sang the rest of the Big Brother set (Sophia Ramos?) was rawer and - imo - better. Also, Ten Years After was a revelation. I wasn't sure what to expect from them w/o Alvin Lee, but Joe Gooch is great (though different). TYA were the only band that made me want to go out and buy their NEXT album, rather than simply revist past albums.
I wish we could have featured more songs but Great Woods, (on behalf of the artists) were very strict about how much we could shoot, (basically, only the first 60 seconds of each act). I was lucky to record later songs of Canned Heat -- if my camera had been pointed toward the stage, I would have been jumped. Sorry that I couldn't stick around for Levon Helms, but I have to build in at least 2 hours of edit time for videos, (plus travel time back to Middletown)
Hi! Could you let us know when the Canned Heat videos are posted? You really did a good job capturing the acts and the fun of everyone there that day!
@HVMediaGroup I clearly see the promoters concern about bootlegging...esp. when an official DVD will be on the market...Concerts have to be paid for, the bands get their fees, etc....Times are tough and people need the dough in order to flow...
Care to explain "the crowd for the most part looked awful?" With a little apprehension I ask, what would you do with such undesirable people? I think I recall a fitting line in an original Twilight Zone(?): "Without ugliness, there is no beauty." Humbly suggest attitude adjustment and rising vertically, i.e. "grow up"...
Hi - I totally agree with your comment to Optionaxis - I think the guy has been hit in the head too many times by a snowboard! I like your reply to him - he definitely needs to GROW UP
Hah, I had talked to the hippies decked out in full tie-dye at :24 while eating lunch, real nice people, everyone wanted to take a picture with them too :D
Just demonstrates how superior Baby Boom music and culture was/is to what prevails among youth today.

Lol, I opened the can of worms. How dramatic. I suppose it was also the straw that broke the camels back?
I offended a bunch of people all across the world, but your the only one that seems to be angry with me.
Are you the voice of the people.
I'll keep having fun at shows. Like the widespread/allmans show, and moe.down this weekend.
You keep replying to me on here and carrying your grudge.

So go thumbs me down, and yell at me. And whatever else. I've moved on.
So you probably should too. If not do what you want.

wow, i was pissed that i didn't make it but i don't know now. Would have been great to see the bands but the crowd for the most part looked awful.
Went to a free wailers show and the phish show at spac so I had plenty of phun without going to this.
Def good bands though.
Why know highlights of Levon Helm? I bet he was killing it.

Just didn't look like anybody there was really enjoying the music. Everyone was just going to try and be part of the original woodstock.
Just didn't look like my crowd.
And I said for the most part, not everyone. You can add a few more thumbs down, I don't care.
That's what I see.

I was at Woodstock and went to this anniversary concert Saturday-
Country Joe reminded us what it was really about 3 days of PEACE-
He read off a list of those killed in Viet nam and Iraq wars from Ulster County with their ages- just babies He almost lost his mike-
they shut down his guitar mike instead of his voice mike
It was very moving.

I wasn't a "hippy" either....but it was part of my youth and I enjoy remembering it and watching those "oldies" having a good time remembering too :)
Just think....that old guy dancing is somebody's father!!!! Oh the shame LOL
I am assuming you are still young....and I hope you are still around long enough to look back fondly on your youth....
