No shit? The GSX1300R is faster than the VFR 800? Well, whodathunkit... Are you going to do another video comparing a Vespa to the 'Busa? "Well, since they both have two wheels, you might think that they are equally fast, but even when we give the Vespa a 2 minute head start the 'Busa easily overtakes it." No shit, Sherlock. Guess what? People don't buy a VFR because they are insanely fast, they buy them because you can ride one all day without needing a chiropractor.
What a stupid video! The weeny voice with the context of this video, ok blame the latter more, but it sounds so smug lol. At least start from 0 to 100 where the ultimate big bike doesn't have such advantage. Also a more real world test.
I agree with a lot of the comments here comparing two different class of bikes was a pointless exercise. Having that said the VFr is an illustration of a gentleman's bike vs something designed to rearrange your face just twisting the throttle. And yes the VFr 800 is an example of refined engineering for a variety of riding.
Erm... I concurr with almost every comment, Vfr is a sports tourer (classed in the UK anyhow) and the hyabusa is classed as a supersports.... Also the VFR is an 800 cc. Besides The VFR is still good for an easy 160 mph (at least mine was, on the track obviously), which is more than enough for even the terminally derranged. And if that bores you, put a supercharger on it, or get a pure sports bike and suffer the back pain and unreliability.
omg...first of all,vfr is not a sportbike,it's a touring-bike.
comparing any sportbike against a vfr is like comparing a ferarri whith a bmw

but take the busa and the vfr to a racetrack whith fast turns, and the busa will eat the dust, due to it's long wheelbase
When that busa enginge is dead and burried in the junkyard the vfr v4 still rides on. Many of you are forgetting one thing and im surprised even the videomaker didnt understand it, and that is that the Hayabusa is built for 300km/h from the beginning and the Vfr is NOT, the busa was made with the concept to be the fastest bike in the world so why compare these two machines when they are not built to match from the start.
Im gonna make a video of me racing an old Norton on my cbr6, then comment on how you may assume they are about the same speed and generally look similar, but they are CLEARLY not...
VFR8 was the natural evolution of the top 80's and 90's racing technology into a long lasting sport tourer.
The Busa is a heavy duty truckcycle meant for hauling around 400 pound girls on the back, adorning with spikes, terrible neon metal flake colors, air brushed pornographic images and japanese symbols then eventually crashing in a canyon when you realize your busa is really just a 220 hp Goldwing. Personally I'd like to see some VFRs with the A&A supercharger upgrade tested beside other bikes, that might actually be interesting, but I still don't think it would match the busa.

I just bought an 07 VFR800 - but NOT to attempt to out run a Busa. Why the heck would anyone bother to do that? Clearly totally different bikes. The VFR is the best in it's class, and the Busa is probably best in it's class - but they are in different classes. Stupid comparison IMO, but hey - it's your video - so do what you wish.
Put the VFR and the Busa in some tight curves - but be ready to get your panties in a wad. LOL
I have an 09 vfr &10 busa, hmm what shall i say ? put the power of the busa in the vfr and you have the perfect bike, oh they have the new vfr 1200 :) now i dont need 2 bikes, just have to wait for the prices come down :( I get your point, but really? most bikes look fast, except HD.. so it isnt a real good comparo.. and why is that guy ringing the throttle like that ??? lol. i enjoy riding the vfr more, its just the feel of the bike and how it rides. the busas power!! that is soo addictive
I own a VFR and your comments hurt my Mangina...seriously? Why did they put a VFR (which I will never sell as I love mine) against a motorcycle that was clearly made by Wile E Coyote and the Acme company (you'd have to have balls of steel to ride one)?! Also, I think that this test was unfair as the VFR rider has turrets and cannot stop his throttle arm from flapping..dumbest shootout I've ever seen.
@aminevich Okay. That was an amusing comment, I grant you. This little matchup continues to rile people up. I've stopped replying to comments as they are a little repetitive.
BTW, I've got a Smart Car vs. Veyron coming up. Bet ya can't wait, right?
i am a VFR owner and I find all these comments very amusing.... mine is faster... no mine....
it all depends what you're using the bike for. You can beat a VFR on a Busa on twisty roads? Fine... you're competing against a driver that is less capable.
Take out a VFR on a track, and I'm inclined to say ANY track, then take the Busa and try to get the same laptimes. It's gonna be real hard!
Same if you try to beat a Busa on a straight with VFR... it's just not gonna work.
@jakke1975 Honestly, as a VFR owner, I've been trounced by a guy on a 400cc bike. He rode like a bat out of hell. I later found he was on Cocaine at the time...but he seemed to defy gravity and the laws of physics. So, I believe the bike cannot make the rider. It's the rider who makes it. I'd love to see a shoot-out for 10 laps with a guy on a VFR, Busa, whatever, on a race track vs a professional rider on a 250 cc (say Ninja R). Now, that's entertainment! p.s. VFR rules..lol
Good one Jake. Don't get me wrong, the VFR is a lovely bike, super comfy and quite good in twisties. I just find the comparison ludicrous because of such the difference in CCs. Demonstrating the Busa's superiority in a straight line vs. VFR? ludicrous, but then again, doing the same thing on a track vs. an R1 or a GSX-R750 would be pointless too. The VFR is a highly competent bike in all aspects; but as they say: jack of all, king of none. And that's perfectly fine.
I HAVE A 1998 VFR 800 THE BEST BIKE ALL AROUND ITS FAST HANDLES GREAT what more do you need you can only do the speed limit VFR IS GOOD FOR 155 MPH THATS FAST
thats not much of a race lol. my 600rr will spank a ninja250, but i dont think id bother to record a video of it lol... this video does certainly show the power of the hayabusa...... for those that havent figured it out yet.... dont fuck with one! lol
Thats some bad acting by the VFR rider nobody does that crap. You guys made it purposely look slower than it actually is. Sure the VFR would loose to a busa in a strait line, its not designed for that. Put an experienced rider on the VFR and it spank a busa rider in the twisties. Created Equal? Isn't that busa also modified? Suzuki is the Squid king of street bikes.
god youre an idiot. first, theres a 500cc difference in the size of the engine. how could anything POSSIBLY keep up with such a displacement disadvantage? second, the busa is made for outright speed, the VFR is made as a "best of both worlds" bike between a sportbike and a touring bike. next time, just be more of a douche and compare your busa to a ninja 250.
@FullTiltLife not at all.... it's just the difference between a 1300cc bike which causes premature ejaculation and a bike that was designed to get you to the same place without forfeiting your manhood. :)
Yes very good, try again only this time with a few bends in the road and you will see how a car drivers mentality and a pile of shit dont mean crap to a biker who can ride and a good vfr.
well im not a vfr or a busa rider. But thats obviously not a fair comparison. 800 against a 1300? huge difference in BHP and capacity.probably a gsxr 750 would be a better comparison wif the vfr. But vfr would probably lose out anw since its more mid range than high end being a sports tourer. It all depends on preference. All bikes are designed for a purpose. VFR being a sports tourer and busa being a hyper bike. Whats impt is the bike serves its purpose. ohh well to each their own opinion.
haha, so mouch acting in that clip... the guy on the right (the VFR) acts like he is twisting the acceleration in a big way.. it is allmost caricatural. It is obvious that it is faked/acted because the distance between the camera and the bike stays the same and the MPH/ RPM gow up slowly and without gear change..Dude, I get the point, the orange is round and orange like a grapefruit but are totally diffrent.. same with the bikes.. i guess you have a busa and are a little frustrated by the VFR
@DrTudorMarian As an owner of a 6 gen vfr, I'd say the speed looks legit. Also the chase bike looks like a busa, so naturally it shouldn't be straining to keep pace with the viffer. Furthermore, the chase bike shifts 4 times.
@jbsegrest Dude, you're right, the chase bike shifts 4 times, and vhen it gets to 120 it stays in forth. The VFR has the same speed and the guy seems to rev it like crazy. When he pretends to rev it the distance doesn' change! Now if you could explain to me howcome the distance between the chase byke and the wfr doesn't change if he twists the gass in souch a manner as we can see.. And not last, have you seen ANYWONE twist the gass like that???? Maybe a cartoon caracter would do it so agressiv.
One would rev it like crazy if one would change gear. The gui on the VFR acts like he is changing gear and revs it like crazy but in fact he is not changing any gear. Now don't ger me wrong, I would not buy the VFR cuz I want to ride in confort in the city. If I want a sportsbyke I woulld take a R1. I don't really care about this comparison , I am shore that in top speed and acceleration busa has the advantage but this video seems fake.
@DrTudorMarian Here's a vid of a top speed run on a stock viffer. You'll have to convert to mph, but 120 mph is around 194 kph. notice how quick he gets to 120 (194 kph) and how long it takes to get from there to his top speed of around 145 (236 kph) indicated. As for why the gap stays the same between the chase bike and the viffer, it just takes skill, but not much of it.
@DrTudorMarian Simple to explain. The guy on the camera bike is on a Hayabusa, which is why he never needs more than 7500-8000rpm on a partial throttle to stay with the VFR. The VFR is redlining in every gear on full throttle. The busa could have dropped into a higher gear & still not required full throttle to overtake.
I have a 98 VFR with 16k on the clock. It still looks like new and drives beautifully. Also have a 2008 CB 1300s which is lovely machine but totally different to VFR . My point is horses for courses.. if want a straight line missile that isn't particularly well made the choose a Hayabusa (or a fast car) .. if want a bike that handles and is an all rounder buy a VFR.
Wow, that Busa must be a real dog. It's a 1300 cc bike, right. Why is the VFR still in the same county. I've done over 1800 miles in 3 days on my VFR, how many Busa riders could walk after that?
I think the VFR folks must be some of the most sensitive people on two wheels. So much upset and outrage, it is pretty amusing to see.
It is simply a video showing two vehicles running together.
Had I posted a video showing a VFR blowing the doors off of an Suzuki Savage 650, do you think we'd be seeing a slew of comments from PO'ed Savage riders posting up about the injustice of the matchup?
I think i understand the purpose of this clip... But the thing is all motorcycle riders no that a Busa in a straight line will nail a Vfr. Lets see the more powerful bike vs the less powerful bike on the twists and turns be more interesting to watch. I have owned both bikes and i hated the Busa. Vfr much better to live with..... Oh and another thing lets put a rs 250 aprilia against a Gsxr 600. straight line bye bye 250. twisty road bye bye Gsxr hope you see my point. Ride safe......
I garantee you'd see savage 650 riders doing the same thing. The motorcycle world is in reality a biased world.
I have a good match up for you. When the new s1000rr comes out go ahead and do a comparison with a busa. STOCK the s1000rr has bhp of 193. Lets see the shitty ass Suzuki hold up with that power to weight ratio. All Suzukis suck period.
@FullTiltLife People that ride VFR's don't give two shits about "blowing off doors" to some POS savage. Your funny comment about a Veyron v. Smart car is exactly how stupid this comparo is.
@FullTiltLife What you don't understand is that if you made a video of a VFR racing a Suzuki Savage everyone, VFR riders included, would just feel like you wasted their time by making them watch another incredibly pointless and stupid video. You see, it would be less stupid than this video since the Savage and VFR are much closer in displacement than the VFR and Hayabusa. Get it?
Hey, and something else I just found out; an F/A18 Super Hornet is faster than a 'Busa! Who woulda thunk it! BTW, this is the stupidest F'ing video I've ever seen.
We needed a video to tell us this? I've owned both a Busa and VFR. While the Busa was a hoot to ride I found the VFR to be the better day to day bike...at least for me.
The logic behind this video is complete horsesh*t. Here are some real numbers:
2002 VFR800
1/4 Mile-11.3
0-60-3.4
2005 Ferrari F430
1/4 Mile-11.7
0-60-3.5
There you have it folks. Ferrari F430: looks like it should be fast, but clearly "not built for speed." If you drive one, your car is actually slow and you are a poser.
My uncle's riding skill and his Ducati 1000RR would pace that Busa. Only thing the Busa would get him on is top end, but there's no room for that unless you go to the MidWest.
I agree. I have a 2000 VFR and it;s a great bike. It's a Sport Touring bike and not even in the same league with the Suzuki. I think this is an unfair caparison. Indeed, both are fantastic machines for the role they're intended.
However, I must give the Interceptor HUGE Kudos for uniqueness :) (but I'm a lil' biased!)
i understood that they tried to give the idea that not every 2 bikes that look the same perform the same but the point is VFR is just a sport touring and Busa is the Skyline of bikes .... However the V4 still rules just for the record at it's tops the RVF750 top tuned made 197bhp that was between 96 to 2000 just long before they invented the busa
the only time people talk shit is when they think they have a faster bike than you do. and as far as i am concerned yes busa is fast!! but the viffer still kicks major ass!!! so stop trying to compare apples and oranges you retards!!!
They are not even in same class. You can not compare them.On VFR half of the valves arent even opening up to 7000 rpm for fuel economy and big difference on engine size also.
I can see the point of the video to show the discrepancy between a Supersport/Sport Touring bike, but I think it'd be more interesting to see something like the Concours-14 vs. ZX-14 to illustrate the difference in body style/weight and tuning and not the sheer power of its plant. This video is the equivalent to comparing the VFR800 to a Ninja 250R.
I think the outside observer would probably get the wrong idea from this video. Yes, the Busa is much faster, but the fact is that the VFR is still much faster than most sports cars. So we're talking crazy fast vs. ridiculous fast. From the video it looked like the VFR only (!) topped out just short of 140. Truth be told, that Busa would probably lose head to head with a late model litre bike, but probably not so spectacularly.
Very few people that ride busa's actually know how to ride a sport bike. When they call there bike a "sport bike" that is the first clue they have no idea what to do in a corner. Any moron can twist there wrist in a straight line.
I'm astounded at the folk replying who have COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT of the video. It is not that hard, folks. Did we have a clue who would win? Um, yeah, of course.
No need to get defensive about your VFR guys. It is a cool bike, either way.
I agree! i have a vfr800. Yes a busa would kill it it in a drag. But hey are we shocked!!! NO!!!!! damn what a stupid race lol. get both of them on a twisty track then we shall see. But oh how cool does a VFR look......
Am I missing the point? A 1340cc superbike and an 800cc sport tourer? What an utterly asinine comparison. It makes about as much sense as comparing a Ferrari with a Rolls Royce.
They are totally different bikes with totally different roles..... Ones an absolute road rocket that looks like a bag of chicken shit, and the other ones a great commuter/sports tourer that looks awesome (I know the looks thing is totally subjective but I had to get it in there as I just hate the looks of the 'busa)
Anyone who cares enough to watch this clip would know the differences!!
I have a 2005 vfr800.Not sure how much faster the busa would be if the VFR had 1300cc displacement?Besides, now here in Ontario a fine of 50kph over the limit cost you huge!!!Impound bike for week, take license, fine is between $2000 and $10000.I have a hard enough time not getting into shit with the VFR.If you like going to the track, probably a pure sport like a gsxr1000 would kill a Busa.Busa a dying breed at least in my next of the woods. Also I saved between $600 and $900 a year oninsurance.
Yet you clicked on it anyway? And you missed the simple point of this 'pointless' video. People who are not blessed with massive cerebellums filled with arcane motorcycle knowledge will NOT know the difference between the two.
Horrible match up... Super sport vs. Sport tour?

Also, I think that this test was unfair as the VFR rider has turrets and cannot stop his throttle arm from flapping..dumbest shootout I've ever seen.

i am a VFR owner and I find all these comments very amusing.... mine is faster... no mine....
it all depends what you're using the bike for. You can beat a VFR on a Busa on twisty roads? Fine... you're competing against a driver that is less capable.
Take out a VFR on a track, and I'm inclined to say ANY track, then take the Busa and try to get the same laptimes. It's gonna be real hard!
Same if you try to beat a Busa on a straight with VFR... it's just not gonna work.
jakke1975 1 year ago
@jakke1975 Honestly, as a VFR owner, I've been trounced by a guy on a 400cc bike. He rode like a bat out of hell. I later found he was on Cocaine at the time...but he seemed to defy gravity and the laws of physics. So, I believe the bike cannot make the rider. It's the rider who makes it. I'd love to see a shoot-out for 10 laps with a guy on a VFR, Busa, whatever, on a race track vs a professional rider on a 250 cc (say Ninja R). Now, that's entertainment! p.s. VFR rules..lol
aminevich 1 year ago
"All sport bikes are not created equal" - you call the VFR 800 a sport bike?
If my auntie had some I'd call her uncle!
benoitcaron 1 year ago
@benoitcaron
it's sports touring... not purely sports. neither is the hayabusa!
but yeah, it's enough of a sportsbike to take it to a track and have a lot of fun with it, even among fireblades and R1s.
it's also enough of a touring bike to take it for a couple thousand km trip and arrive absolutely relaxed.
Feeling bad you don't own one? ;-)
jakke1975 1 year ago
@jakke1975
Cheers =)

Yeah. Dickhead. And what would happen if you put an 'experienced rider' on a BUSA?
darkknight17 1 year ago
god youre an idiot. first, theres a 500cc difference in the size of the engine. how could anything POSSIBLY keep up with such a displacement disadvantage? second, the busa is made for outright speed, the VFR is made as a "best of both worlds" bike between a sportbike and a touring bike. next time, just be more of a douche and compare your busa to a ninja 250.
chris71mach1 2 years ago 31
@chris71mach1
Chris YOU'RE THE IDIOT. The comparison was in HOW THE BIKES LOOK TO NON-BIKERS. Duhhhhh
Either way the VFR is whack. What kind of a man rides a VFR?
I would never own one, even if it was given to be free I would sell it and buy a proper bike. A Supersports bike :D

Well, to be fair, a Jap 600 sport bike would destroy a Harley, so it's not just displacement that matters.

Yes very good, try again only this time with a few bends in the road and you will see how a car drivers mentality and a pile of shit dont mean crap to a biker who can ride and a good vfr.
visorup1 2 years ago
Hey,the VFR rider is masturbating with the throttle or something?
Deathunder 2 years ago
well im not a vfr or a busa rider.
ZaKkMuStAiNe 2 years ago
haha, so mouch acting in that clip... the guy on the right (the VFR) acts like he is twisting the acceleration in a big way.. it is allmost caricatural.
DrTudorMarian 2 years ago 16
@DrTudorMarian As an owner of a 6 gen vfr, I'd say the speed looks legit. Also the chase bike looks like a busa, so naturally it shouldn't be straining to keep pace with the viffer. Furthermore, the chase bike shifts 4 times.
jbsegrest 1 year ago
@jbsegrest Dude, you're right, the chase bike shifts 4 times, and vhen it gets to 120 it stays in forth. The VFR has the same speed and the guy seems to rev it like crazy. When he pretends to rev it the distance doesn' change! Now if you could explain to me howcome the distance between the chase byke and the wfr doesn't change if he twists the gass in souch a manner as we can see.. And not last, have you seen ANYWONE twist the gass like that???? Maybe a cartoon caracter would do it so agressiv.
DrTudorMarian 1 year ago
One would rev it like crazy if one would change gear. The gui on the VFR acts like he is changing gear and revs it like crazy but in fact he is not changing any gear. Now don't ger me wrong, I would not buy the VFR cuz I want to ride in confort in the city. If I want a sportsbyke I woulld take a R1. I don't really care about this comparison , I am shore that in top speed and acceleration busa has the advantage but this video seems fake.
DrTudorMarian 1 year ago
@DrTudorMarian Here's a vid of a top speed run on a stock viffer. You'll have to convert to mph, but 120 mph is around 194 kph. notice how quick he gets to 120 (194 kph) and how long it takes to get from there to his top speed of around 145 (236 kph) indicated. As for why the gap stays the same between the chase bike and the viffer, it just takes skill, but not much of it.
jbsegrest 1 year ago
@DrTudorMarian it won't let me post the link, slap this on the end of youtube or search for vfr 800 speed run
/watch?v=zZpHY4yRqiQ
jbsegrest 1 year ago
@DrTudorMarian Simple to explain. The guy on the camera bike is on a Hayabusa, which is why he never needs more than 7500-8000rpm on a partial throttle to stay with the VFR. The VFR is redlining in every gear on full throttle. The busa could have dropped into a higher gear & still not required full throttle to overtake.

I have a 98 VFR with 16k on the clock. It still looks like new and drives beautifully. Also have a 2008 CB 1300s which is lovely machine but totally different to VFR . My point is horses for courses.. if want a straight line missile that isn't particularly well made the choose a Hayabusa (or a fast car) .. if want a bike that handles and is an all rounder buy a VFR.

nickye3 2 years ago 3
Wow, that Busa must be a real dog. It's a 1300 cc bike, right. Why is the VFR still in the same county. I've done over 1800 miles in 3 days on my VFR, how many Busa riders could walk after that?
Lexicologist71 2 years ago 3
I think the VFR folks must be some of the most sensitive people on two wheels. So much upset and outrage, it is pretty amusing to see.
It is simply a video showing two vehicles running together.
Had I posted a video showing a VFR blowing the doors off of an Suzuki Savage 650, do you think we'd be seeing a slew of comments from PO'ed Savage riders posting up about the injustice of the matchup?
Now carry on whinging.
FullTiltLife 2 years ago
I think it is your title that is throwing this video off.
DECIMATES? LOL!

theoneandonlyinfidel 2 years ago 2
I think i understand the purpose of this clip... But the thing is all motorcycle riders no that a Busa in a straight line will nail a Vfr. Lets see the more powerful bike vs the less powerful bike on the twists and turns be more interesting to watch. I have owned both bikes and i hated the Busa. Vfr much better to live with..... Oh and another thing lets put a rs 250 aprilia against a Gsxr 600. straight line bye bye 250. twisty road bye bye Gsxr hope you see my point. Ride safe......
stan6818 2 years ago 2
I garantee you'd see savage 650 riders doing the same thing. The motorcycle world is in reality a biased world.
I have a good match up for you. When the new s1000rr comes out go ahead and do a comparison with a busa. STOCK the s1000rr has bhp of 193. Lets see the shitty ass Suzuki hold up with that power to weight ratio. All Suzukis suck period.
TheHathaway 2 years ago
@FullTiltLife People that ride VFR's don't give two shits about "blowing off doors" to some POS savage. Your funny comment about a Veyron v. Smart car is exactly how stupid this comparo is.
vonzips 9 months ago
@FullTiltLife What you don't understand is that if you made a video of a VFR racing a Suzuki Savage everyone, VFR riders included, would just feel like you wasted their time by making them watch another incredibly pointless and stupid video. You see, it would be less stupid than this video since the Savage and VFR are much closer in displacement than the VFR and Hayabusa. Get it?

The logic behind this video is complete horsesh*t. Here are some real numbers:
2002 VFR800
1/4 Mile-11.3
0-60-3.4
2005 Ferrari F430
1/4 Mile-11.7
0-60-3.5
There you have it folks. Ferrari F430: looks like it should be fast, but clearly "not built for speed." If you drive one, your car is actually slow and you are a poser.

golf1diesel 2 years ago
I can see the point of the video to show the discrepancy between a Supersport/Sport Touring bike, but I think it'd be more interesting to see something like the Concours-14 vs. ZX-14 to illustrate the difference in body style/weight and tuning and not the sheer power of its plant. This video is the equivalent to comparing the VFR800 to a Ninja 250R.
nefilim314 2 years ago 2
I think the outside observer would probably get the wrong idea from this video. Yes, the Busa is much faster, but the fact is that the VFR is still much faster than most sports cars. So we're talking crazy fast vs. ridiculous fast. From the video it looked like the VFR only (!) topped out just short of 140. Truth be told, that Busa would probably lose head to head with a late model litre bike, but probably not so spectacularly.
