Easiest way to explain it is, In ECON Mode. When u come to a stop (traffic light, stop sign, etc.) and put the car in neutral (OR with the CVT transmission: at a stop with your foot on the brake) the car shuts the engine off and it runs on batteries to save fuel. When u put the car in gear (OR with the CVT Transmission: take ur foot off the brake) the engine restarts itself.
Finally found a posted CVT, Thanks lol my dad told me about CVTs a while back as a kid, but still wondering how it computes now adays,... did it stick at an rpm and accelerate or did it keep going up as it varied the ratio...? Thanks :D
@virokill132 it applys the handbrake when the car comes to a stop, so you can take your foot of the brake pedal (its an auto). then just press the accelerator to move off. got the same system on my dads 7 series bmw!
@virokill132 is when the engine stop automatically when u are in a red light or waiting for something or someone, when u are not running, to save gas..or in this case battery
@virokill132 when stopping at, say a redlight, the engine will actually cut off when the brake is pressed to make it more fuel efficient.. Though being a CR-Z owner myself, it does not always engage when pressed.
Just drove one today. I ran it in sport mode, and I thought it was great. It was zippy; not fast, not slow. It's built for corners, and it does them well. During my limited test drive, I drove on detroit-like pavement, part of a curvy highway, and congested city streets. It doesn't feel harsh, noisy, slow, or numb. Steering is super direct in sport mode, throttle responds great, low road noise for a Honda, super efficient, and the ride was actually pretty decent. You need to drive it to love it.
@BerGaMont925 Didn't know that. wow... I wonder how that will effect on sales. But MT transmission of CR-Z is really good. At least I'm sure MT lovers will be satisfied.
@BerGaMont925 better to have a cuountry driving stick than auto...if the owner of the stick car is injured and you have to drive them to the hospital and you cant drive stick...than that person might die lol
@CrisAntonioMorelos Don't know. So far there are 2 models in Japan. One is cheap with minimum equipment, and the other one has stuff like navigation system and H.I.D. 90% of people buy the upper model. Hope there'll be SiR or TypeR someday.
peek around on honda's web site.. I seem to recall confirmation that an R-Type was in the plans.
From what I've heard from the NYC show the us model trim levels will match that which was offered from the 2nd Gen US Insight at introduction.. additionally the price of the lowest trim is also supposedly coming for less than $20,000.
@msepsis As far as I know, Honda has never mentioned specifically about CR-Z Type R yet. But they've said they will consider a "more sporty version" if they could find a market. I strongly wish for a Type R, but just like the case of S2000, something like Type S is possible too.
@CrisAntonioMorelos It was really good. And another good thing about CR-Z is that the seat height is as low as S2000. It's only a 1.5L engine, but I could truly feel the spirit of "sport" in it.
whats the rpm when cruising at 100km/h ??!! Is there different rpm between 6MT ??

@virokill132 the gas engine shuts down completely when you stop. The electric engine's still on and starts the car when you push the gas pedal.

@virokill132 The engine stops for fuel economy, when you hit the gas it starts immediately. It´s great ;)

@virokill132 when you stop your car at stop sign, or stop in the middle of the road, while the engine is still on, it saves gasoline, like the hybrid

@virokill132 when the speed is going to be 'zero' the gasoline engine shuts down for not consuming gasoline
