WOW. I actually found rediscovered this song from my last listening maby 3-6years ago and thought i'd lost it for good but damn here it is waiting for me how sick is that, Awesome song btw
Both Minibosses and Powerglove have their awesome takes on essential 8-bit; both bands simply have their own particular strengths and style to my ears, both in technique and rendition. Honestly, I don't see the point in comparing for the sake of "who's better?" I prefer to soak up both and indulge in the fact that there is more than one sweet band out there making kickass versions of NES audio.
@cyborgwolf1 I know you posted this months ago, so you may have already found the tab by know.. but go onto ultimate guitar and just search "minibosses - califnornication" though, i think there is only a guitar pro tab, either way i recommend getting gutiar pro software :P
@OozeSlimeJelly its because back then they couldnt just take out some cliche template and use it. they had few notes to work with but were more creative in the small space they had.
@OozeSlimeJelly hey, castlevania still has monstrous soundtracks.. but in other franchises i really hate the orchestated themes, there's no catchy sounds like with the 8 bits
@OozeSlimeJelly Fewer number of instruments and fewer notes that could be played at once meant a lot more creativity had to be used to make it sound good. Converting 8-bit themes into higher-rate themes works a lot better than converting higher-rate themes down to 8-bit for that reason.
Which is why we tend to find most modern videogame soundtracks lackluster compared to the sounds of the 8 and 16-bit eras (barring, of course, remixes, as you said).
i prefer vomitron!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These guys are really good, they don't use a drum machine to abuse double bass kick pedalling to make it sound heavier

it's funny that 8-bit melodies are superior to their fancier modern-day cousins.

@rupertsfromhell , agreed. the other themes get rather dull and dont have the availibility to scare the piss out of you.
