can anyone answer these questions for me please? even air force recruiters have not been able to answer them for me!? wtf right! how long is the tack schoolhouse not including basic? once you reach hurlburt do you get some time off?
I am already in route to be a tacp but i was just curious if anyone knew the indoctrination for tacps and if you could give me some good info on it thanks
@EagleEyeM4 i figured that out but like what do you do during indoc.. i read somewhere that to pass indoc you gotta do like a sorta beefed up past test or something like that, idk elaborate please? lol
@AAHH94 Yes it is more intense than the PAST. I hear they are changing the PAST now, don’t know when it will take affect. More pull-ups and rest position for push-ups and sit-ups has changed.
@EagleEyeM4 ya i heard the same thing, i wouldnt doubt making the rest position easier for both haha idk how it could get much more difficult than "no rest position" but i was correct its all the same shit push ups pull ups sit ups 1.5 mile run 2 and 4 mile ruck? with more strenuous numbers?
hey if anyone has take the past test for tacp can you message me and tell me what to expect? the only thing that will prolly hold me back is pull ups. I can do 5 or 6 but not on 2 count. So I'm working on them. can anyone who has recently taken the past for tacp message me about it?
@Eirik36 Im pretty sure its not as tought as PJ or CCT. That is why they hard 2 different PAST. SERE and TACP take a less challenging PAST while PJ, CCT, and SOWT take the more challenging. but by no means am i saying TACP training is easy. I plan on trying to do this and going to ranger school to become ranger qualified and then after my contract as a TACP i will try for my dream as PJ!
@CSARdrums24 That is insane to do both ranger, tacp and then pj. I have heard of tacp going to pj ... but that is a insanely long road. Canadian Forces SAR is somewhat similar. Do something tough like combat diver or PPCLI and then you might get a chance to try out for SAR.
@vlun121 no no no haha misunderstood. I was going to be ranger qualified while being a tacp. and im still debating on going tacp first then pj because that is a long long time
Hey, I'm a sophomore AFROTC cadet, and I've been thinking a lot about my future career in the Air Force. Pilot is my number one job selection of course, but I'm thinking about holding Air Liaison Officer (ALO) as a close second. I just have one question however: Do ALO's ever do fieldwork? I know they go through the same training as TACP members, but I'm worried I'd be stuck in the rear echelon. As an ALO will I get to go do work with the TACP Badasses?
@Jesuskrieger OK bud, TACP should NEVER be your number two choice. It's either number one or no number at all. Just like our sound off, the strong shall stand, the weak will fall by the wayside. Your heart's either in it or it's not. I'm not going to tell you the answers but I'll tell you where to look. Do research on what an Army infantry battalion is all about. As a junior 13L, you'll most likely be with a maneuver battalion.
im wanting to be a air force tacp after i grad high school and bmt. I have a couple of Q's about Tacp. for starters how many times can i be eliminated? or do u get eliminated? cause all the research ive done it says most ppl drop out but never does it say they got kick out? PLEASE HALP!
@Judah862 I'm not TACP so I can't tell you how many times you can be eliminated but what I can tell you is that with anything challenging in life you can't go into something expecting to fail or you've already failed. Like I said I'm not TACP so I don't have an answer for you about it but you can't expect to fail man...gotta keep pressing with anything challenging until you prevail...props to you for wanting to do it tho.
CCT is 70-80% washout because the schooling is so long and the job requires you to be in the mindset of the "perfect soldier" pretty much 24/7. and watch"surviving the cut - us air force pararescue and you'll find out a bunch of stuff
What are the chances of passing TACP training and actually becoming a TACP? Is the training as hard as PJ's or is it less intense with a higher chance to get in vs. the PJ 9 of 10 failure rate? Thanks.
Just a quick question to anyone who knows. I've been planning on joining the Army as a 13F forward observer, but in the back of my mind, I've really wanted to go TACP for a while, and was just curious. Is it true that TACPs CCTs and PJs get their own training flight at Basic?
@CaptainAmerica322 They don’t have their own training flight. They do however have separate classes set aside while at BMT to prepare them for tech school.
@CaptainAmerica322 No. Other than these extra classes, all the different AFSCs are grouped randomly at BMT into flights. After BMT you attend a week at Lackland for TACP indoc then if you pass it is off to tech school in FL.
@CaptainAmerica322 If you go 13F, request JFO at every opportunity. Learn and be proficient at your calls for fire and you might have the chance to do some pretty high speed stuff.
@CaptainAmerica322 hey i hope you do well in what ever you do. i went into the air force as a pj but that training is wicked tough.. not to disregard it it just was hard for me but nothing far from unreachable. and no they are not seperated and we dont have extra classes. bmt for the air force is the same weather your special forces or not. only thing pj's had was a past test at our 4th bmt week to make sure we still meet the pj requirements. hope you do well again in waht ever you decide.
I'm enlisting in the AF now and I know after talking to the recruiter (at least CCTs and PJs) have a separate basic training from the rest of the AF. They changed it because they found out after not swimming for the 8 weeks at basic the guys who were doing special operations couldn't pass the PAST Test. I'm not sure if all special operations go to this same school though. Something to ask you're recruiter about. Food for thought.
I think its great that TACP finaly have their own Officers. These guys were so unknown until the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now they are extremely sought after....
I was talking to my Uncle in Afgahnistan the other day ( a TACP officer) and I could hear how to spell the acronym. "say that again will you", I say. He replies "Tango, Alpha, Charlie, Papa. Got it". What a pro : )

@MrMEGAwang PJ probably has one of the most intense tech school's TACP washout rate is 50-60% as were CCT or PJ is 70-80%
capnmunch72 7 months ago
@capnmunch72 so CCT is 70-80% or 50-60%? Why is it so hard? how long is the physical stuff? is it 6 months like Bud/s?

If I re-enlist I would love to be TACP or CCT. I was put into Fuels which I don't mind but I much rather had been put into TACP.
