@powersliding Looking at the R35's, i would say they have better downforce. They all have GT wings which clearly the R34 doesn't. After market kits are also added. Not only that, the R34 had to start from the back and during the races he kept getting blocked by the other races. It's already quite remarkable he managed 2nd.

This clearly shows why IMO, Mines is definitely the world's best GTR tuner. They never concentrated only on horsepower. They work on the whole balance and performance of the car improving each detail. They work on the response of the car and its ease of communication between the driver and the car. This is what many tuners here in the US has to learn. Horsepower is not everything. Quartermile is nothing. Overall performance should be the key.
@vitamingrin1 This also shows how awesome the tuning level of Mines is. And take note, all of the Mines built cars are street legal high powered cars in Japan. Only illegal thing about them is that they can go 300kph+ on the highways.

All he does is to explain his artwork under the hood and he lets the car do the talking. Niikura-san's tuning level is beyond excellence. Developing the ultimate response machine is more tedious than just developing a high powered GTR that does nothing but go straight. Hands down to a tuning legend!

ugh i hate everyone on here who is saying that the r34 and r35 are barely related ugh you simply sound repulse im gonna give you 3 reasons why they are so alot connected 1.if you ever seen a real gtr r35 and looked at the vin r35 is visible on there. 2.they took different pictures of all skylines over the years and compared them to build and incorporate a lil bit of each car. 3. they use an updated newer version of the atesa that you can find on all other gtr's.
if there were more laps for this race, the mine's would have passed keichi. Yamagata drove the R34 very well. I still have my bet on the R34 over the R35, but who knows, R35 has great potential.
Overall the R34 did very well. We are talking tuned vs tuned. Starting position grid 4 and finishing 2nd...not bad. I wonder what would have happened if there were a few more laps to go...
why was the r34 short shifting most of the race? Was it planned not for the r34 to win it? Also it started in 4th place. Ive seen the mines r34 in other videos reving to 8500rpm. I think this was rig for the r34 to lose i know that car can go much harder then what was seen in this video. When he did push the r34 it was overtaking them with ease.
@vr4racer You would need to get subtitles. This show does not really care who wins the race, its more to test the capabilities of each car. The way they do the starting order is always ''fastest car on paper'' in the back slowest in the front. They want the cars to race tight to show well which car has the advantage on which part of track. Check GTchannel on youtube they have a lot of these videos with subtitles which should give you more appreciation in what they do.
GTR will never be the same again without its straight 6 engine.......why must they resort to a bloody v6. it does not sound as good as the RB26 and does not rev as fast.
@nrcharlie I agree. RB26DETT is pure racing machine, VR38 isn't on the same level. In general, the only benefit v6 has over straight, is that it saves space. Every other benefits belong to straight six.
@f0gGenxk It's not a R35. Nissan have tried to distance themselves from even hinting that its a brother to the R34. It's not. The official name is Nissan GTR not R35 Nissan GTR.

I don't know why people call it an R35 or even a Skyline. It isn't either. I read a few articles in an Autocar when they released it speaking to the Nissan-Renault CEO about the car and them trying to keep a little bit of heritage and distance it from its grandparents
@Beanione Well I have better understanding now, and thanks for stressing your point, but it seems that even Japanese TV shows like this one are putting it against the older models and even a few years back Keiichi Tsuchiya was talking about what he wanted to see in a next generation GT-R. It is almost like even the pros in Japan are calling it the predecessor.
@Beanione Yeah i know they dont call the GTR "skyline" anymore, and it used th VR38 instead of the RB26 so its basically like the big brother of the 370z/g37. My mistake for calling it R35 i just got used to calling it that... the GTR doesnt have the same feel as the Skylines did partially because of the low reving heavy body but still its a fast well built machine that deserves recognition.

I think if Tsuchiya was driving the R34 it would have won hands down, if not by a much larger margin than what Tsuchiya had won with in the R35.
