  • Grover made the saxophone God's favorite instrument .....

RIP my Brother ...! We will forever miss you .....

  • Grover was the epitome of a musicians musician, an amazing impovationalist, wow i missed i studied him to the maxx as a kid coming up and could do it all from classical to sraight ahead and everything in between im still working at meeting that level of musicianship

  • He's amazing to watch!!!

  • WoW...I can't believe this is ONLY the sound check...My guy Grover was JAMMIN"...Dag I miss him. There'll NEVER be another like him IMHO. Jazz just hasn't been the same.

  • Awesome! This is a treasure. To watch this is a real privilege. If it were required I would pay to watch it on youtube. GW was without doubt the father of smooth jazz sax

  • My dad liked Grover soo much that it felt like I lost an uncle when he passed R.I.P Grover say hi to my mom for me! Grover=the truth...

  • 2;40= Ain't no sunshine

  • @dkendzior east river drive

  • WOW this is just the sound check.... LOL imagine the actual show...

  • Thanks for the clips. The first song I played with a band before becoming a proressional was Grover's Inner city Blues. I was 16 at the time. The album still blows me away. God bless you Grover. Thanks for the legacy you left.

  • There will never be another my brother. To play soprano, alto, tenor and flute respectively well is unheard of. You are the innovator of what we now call Smooth Jazz. Before Kenny G, Najee ,Paul Taylor, Boney James, Marion Meadows, Kim Waters, etc. you were already on the scene. Grover we love you, miss you and your music will live on.

  • killin...kept the jazz alive

  • Grover is great and beautiful!!!

  • Thanks so much for saying such awesome things about my dad... my family and I really appreciate all the love. I miss him like crazy and it was cool to see this footage.

    Thanks again.

  • Shana

great to see your checking out this footage.I live in the UK and got to see your dad when he came to Blackpool,England 1994 and to coin a phrase He knocked my socks off. After the show I got the all the guys to sign my programme. Thanks to this kind of footage, this will encourage more people to learn the saxophone and keep his music alive, like it did for me.

  • Your Dad was like a musical father to me Grover taught so me much..I miss him too but I listen to him every day..HE is the innovator and the influence to us all

  • Hello Shana! I met your Mom and Dad at club Bene in Sayerville New Jersey in 1990. Your Dad signed my Anthology album, I have it here with the exact pen he used too. Your Dad told me next time to bring my Tenor to jam with him, he also told me to keep playing those scales and long tones. I miss him dearly. Your Dad is Great! When I watch him on the sound check video, i really get inspired!! God Bless Your Dad Grover, Your Mom Christine, and family!

  • @LittleBeigeGirl Shana...your dad was one the best saxophonist and I would say the best saxophonist of the last 20 years including the years he's been gone...he is sorely missed....I grew up listening to my dad play his music...he is a saxophonist himself. And besides listening to my dad the only other one I even listen to now is Grover...peace...and God bless you...

  • i'm so glad my dad listened to this great artist when i was growing up... LOCKSMITH-PEACE...

  • @WordellFranklin - Right on!! Locksmith, what a great reference. My first album I owned and wore out was that unreal Live at the Bijou LP that was Grover w/ Locksmith. Still to this day my favorite album ever and still listen the hell outta it. 7:15 on this clip is "Lock in the Pocket" no less. Great to see your nod to that period. Be well my friend !

  • RIP man...Heaven is Heaven with you playing...

  • ...yep!

  • Awesome! Grover plays great even when it's just for the sound guys.
