the way to hold the shears is to have ur pinky on the finger rest...that's what the little "hook" is for..it allows for more control of the blade, but its really not that big of a deal. I just thought I'd let you know the correct way to handle shears
this helped me so much. I have been on my hair stylist about clipping my ends for the past year and she just won't do it. I think she is not qualified to do it. Instead of just saying that, she says I will next week. So I watched your video and took my hair in my hands - thank you for this. It was very easy to follow and it worked so well.
I have been looking for videos on clipping without straightening for about 2 weeks now. Thank you so much. Great video. Simple, easy to replicate and full of great information.
Another great video. I can't seem to get my hair to stretch. My hair curls and shrinks so much when it's wet. What am I doing wrong? I keep it moisturized and rebraid at night but can't seem to get it stretched enough. Pls advise. Thanks.
I was caught up in that debate whether to trim or not to trim... So I tried not trimming. I will never do that again. Since having a trim I have seen growth, less shed hairs and less knots. I like Ur method because I don't wanna flat iron just to trim.. Thanks for sharing!
You hair is so beautiful. It looks amazingly healthy. I've been natural for 2 years and it's been HARD. My hair is always dry, brittle and tangled. It also doesn't seem to be growing either. I use olive oil and mosturizers but it's not working. What suggestions do you have for me to get the a healthier, longer and stronger head of hair?
Hello, Quick question - i blow dried, pressed w/ hot comb, flat ironed my hair for my 1yr hairversary, and my ends were clipped (professionally done). However when I just washed it 2 wks ago, some of my hair is still striaght and some of my hair is curly, Do you have any suggestions on how I can get my curls back?
Hey! I just wanted to say I saw you in The October issue of Essence Magazine, promoting hair products for a company. I know you have your own hair products as well, but just making sure your likeness wasn't being used to promote other products besides your own it was your picture in the ad.
umm .. I've been natural for 4 years and this hair cutting strategy makes the MOST sense out of everything I have seen! I WILL be doing this from here on out. You can actually SEE the split ends with your method, so you're not cutting all willy nilly. I used to use a similar method, but without twisting.
I need to trim my hair more often! Mind you I have trimmed my hair twice this year but I have been due for another one for a while!!! Your hair has a great shape to it as well!!! I think i may get it cut in a shape like that in a few months!
I've been natural for 10 months & been needing to trim my ends. I did a slight blow out to stretch my twist due to going to Bama & knowing my hair was going to shrink...lol. I w did trim a twist & tested it like you about a week ago & stopped. I said I would do more research. Thanks for this video. I think I will trim my 4yrs twin daughters hair, because I don't see them in a salon. Thanks a million.
I trim my natural hair this way and it works amazingly. And I do 16 twists like you: I make four sections, then I split each section into 4 smaller sections. It's nice to see how other people trim though! Thanks for the vid!
I will try this technique. I plan on not straightening my hair for some years. I have always cut ends without straighten.. I tweeted u not sure if u seen in ur time line. Fb uniquelyme96
@BeautifulBrwnBabyDol actually your ring finger is suppose to b inside of the hole with the long part. n ur pinky rests on the tang. ur thumb does the movement. it brings less pressure on the hands and the blades r not backwards so they cut evenly. hope that helps
Thank you for the tip. I've been asking around a lot lately for a recommendation of someone who can trim my hair without straightening it. Problem solved.
I love this way to clip ends. Just wanted to tell you again.

Question. do sometimes after you do this, you notice a few weeks later that you twist your hair and then it reveals similar looking ends?

What exactly is the "proper" way to hold the scissors and cut? The thumb side facing your head?
