The quality of this upload is unsurpassed. Excellent. Most of the youtube videos have poor video and/or audio quality but not this one. Almost looks like HD.
Very nice print...miles better than the old VHS tape I used to rent! One small but very odd difference: the English dubbing here is the same (some folks might also recall these voices from "Seven Blows of the Dragon", the edited/dubbed version of Chang Cheh's "The Water Margin"), but the VHS version had a brief voiceover as the film opened. "Trouble began with a woman," a deep, sinister male voice intoned as Pierre Brice stepped off the boat. "Here in the tiny village of Veeze...' etc., etc.
THANKS for posting this! Certainly looks like a fascinating & intriguing horror film. I don't think I have ever seen it shown on TV, whether it be local TV or on cable. And it obviously has lush period production values. CHEERS! :-)
I remember first seeing this movie as a child about 1965, even as a kid who watched horror films all the time strangely this particular movie really causes me nightmares....watching it by today's standards of course it seems very tame but I always consider this a classic and one of the most atmospheric of all horror films.....thanks for posting and some interesting memories.
I'm a huge fan of Euro Horror, especially films from this particular time period. Unfortunately, this vintage treasure somehow managed to escape my notice, until now, so I really appreciate your sharing this richly produced gem.
