I actually find this helpful, i assure you, for most people, 90% of everything they tell you how to do sucks, but that's not the point of HowCast, the point of this channel is to have a LARGE variety of help in MANY subjects/situations, and eventually, there will be one or two vids that will help you, so stop getting mad when howcast posts a vid of something you already know, this WILL help SOMEONE. as will all their other vids.

The thing that's really cool about your outside-the-box thinking is your using a simple rope coiling technique and applying it in miniature. The first problem with this is that the wire is too bent, thus prone to breaking. Another problem is the demagnetization of the speakers due to them being close to each other.

If you're serious about protecting your earbuds, you need to keep them in a hard plastic case & make sure never to bend the wire where it goes into the earbud or above where it plugs into your i-pod

From my experience, it's the ends of the cord that are vulnerable, & almost always on the side that plugs into the device that goes bad.

I think it's because there's no slack on the side which plugs in, & the cord always folds one way, & then the other, which kinks the metal kind of like when you bend something back & forth, back & forth. The center of the cord is no big deal because there's slack on both sides, & nothing causes it to always bend in the same place.
