@CarpeDiemAllTheTime It's not that they went mainstream and sold out. It's just that they have changed over time and therefore express themselves differently and produce different music. You may notice that there's a pattern band sometimes follow where they for some reason soften up after a long time together and make emotional songs. Maybe it's a getting old thing idk. You cant expect anybody to remain the same in every way throughout life, or else you're not living.

The thing is that the new songs from Incubus came into the field of mainstream at some point and their songs are no longer talking about vague romance and defying destiny (The songs that give me EARGASM) but now more on teenage girls with low self-esteem, vague sexual descriptions, and not the kind where it sounds epic if you dont understand the son, then when you analyze the lyrics... it is mind-bendingly EPIC.

a lot of people say that incubus sold out, but thats not necessarily true. musicians experiment with different types of music and their own sound develops over time regardless of how popular they are. you cant expect a band not to have an evolving sound simply because they have become popular
