  • damn i love these guys this is real good hip hop!

  • This is the full scratch version, not the 12" I have. Re-equed by Ice-T if I'm correct.

The scratch @ 4:13 that says Hijack is actually the words "I Got" [yanky accent]. The word "Got" dragged forward. to slurr it. IMH.

I still see one or two of the Hijack [HQ] crew about.

    Genius!!!

  • @PrAnG2000 hi intresting fact :) did you know the sample from The Sound Of Knell ?

  • @jointbuttz

Yep! But I'm not gonna tell ya! ;-)

I'll give you a clue though. Both the A & B side breaks are from the same group.

  • Comment removed

  • wow,

need to get in the attic and dig this out, classic!

  • invincible yet calmer sounding version than the yin tang cover.

  • yeah, prefer the original MUSIC OF LIFE version, although this version is mixed, better.

  • This version is on the B side of Badman is Robbin. Its the ICE T remix

  • The money ain't the matter, it's the principle, that makes us invincible

fuck me...how much has hip hop changed? the early UK hip hop headz are unsung heroes.

One of my fave UK tracks (alongside Untitled by Hardnoise amongst many many others)

  • Agreed. You couldn't of said it better!

  • DAMN... when I first heard this, I couldn't believe that this came out in 1989! I'm still amazed and astonished. Some of the scratch techniques employed on this record are more impressive than many of today's DJs' ones are, and the rhyming finesse is also quite devastating... I had said earlier that this emcee sounds like a cross between Chuck D vocally and Kool Moe Dee lyrically... still a great combination. Not to mention how well he rides the beat... rappers nowadays WISH they had that skill.

  • Uk Dj's had a lot more originality and rhythmic elements to their scratching compared to US. I was far more inspired by UK Dj's back in the day as they had more flow and were raw. Check out DJ Mink 'Can you relate' as an example. Most of Today's DJ's are so boring and all sound the same, its actually killing the art.

  • I agree. The best DJs that the US has ever had have always been Jazzy Jeff and the legendary Jam Master Jay... but, in all honesty, the best of their prime cannot compete with the innovators of now... and I can definitely tell that QUITE a bit of innovation was going on back then. When I first heard this, I honestly thought that it was from '92 or '93. That's a sense of futurism that you can NEVER find in rap today. :(

Hijack, IMHO, is definitely one of the best kept secrets in hip-hop. ^_^

  • in fairness i think Hijack's DJ's style was quite similar to the DJ of Tuff Crew - in fact Tuff Crew were quite British in their overall style.

I loved Hijack and Tuff Crew in equal amounts. 1988 to 1990 were amazing years for hip hop on both sides of the pond

  • bro, the original version of 'HOLD NO HOSTAGE' was released on MUSIC OF LIFE RECORDS, in 1988. this is a different version. 1.

  • Oh... I had no idea. Thank you for telling me. Hopefully the original will be posted one day, if it hasn't already. I'll have to definitely look into obtaining that version.

  • proper hip hop only got rid of this on ebay last year well rare know!

  • Wot eva happened to Kamanchi Sly?

  • this is probably my altime best!sickest scratch ever, and oviously way ahead of its time.hijack 4ever

  • classic!

what the fuck happened to hip hop?

  • Problem is mate is that most of these kids are into shite trebly guitar crap or smooth bling bollocks.

When i was a kid i thought the 21st century would mean the 21st century ...WRONG

  • south d

  • this uk old school rap is so much better as the most us rap.

  • Kamanchi Sly Best Rapper ever!

  • this rap rolls

  • CLASSIC,I love REAL MUZIK.HIP-HOP MUZIK,My friend.GOODLOOKIN'

  • THIS TRACK IS AWESOME!! Showcases the cream of Brit-hop, just a shame the Yanks couldn't get their heads round it!! It's ironic Q-Bert cites Hijack (or at least Supreme)as an influence on his style!!

  • Fukcing classic.

UK hip hop will never be as good as it was in the late 80'd early 90's.

  • blade was the best ever 1993
