If you hunt in field's near building's or roads then you should expect this to happen to you at some point.It's happened to me twice & both times it was the same prick that phoned them.so now if i'm shooting in that location i inform the police first and i give them my mob phone number.

In a public park in full cammo gear and armed ? He's not some little kid either and clearly old enough to know better. In a public park in full cammo gear and armed ? He's not some little kid either and clearly old enough to know better. If I'd been there with my kids I'd perceive him as a risk since no half sensible or sane person is going to get dressed in full cammo and take a gun to the park are they (except Michael Ryan of Hungerford types of course) ? I can see both sides of the argument here. The boy in the camo was probably a bit embarrassed but knows the score, too close to buildings, schools etc, lesson learned. The young copper was involved in a wee excercise he can tell him mummy and daddy about when he goes home for tea, so brilliant. We need protection from the very dangerous gunmen but at the same time, need to keep rabbits and vermin to a minimum. Can't see the government employing as many airgunners for that. They did not find me & my friend even though we were out in the open.A PC did come to see us in the field and told us not to worry and that the ARV'S use these call outs as training. As for the comments of terrorism etc it was in the 60's,70's and 80's that terrorism was at it's highest. The vast majority of you have never seen terrorism face to face but our police force have and soldiers have.

This has happened to me many times, just be polite throughout, do as instructed and it's all over in under 30min if everything checks out. Carry all documents from permission off landowner slips and licences,
As for the majority of you saying this and that happens etc etc no it doesn't unless you don't comply..
It's their job and if someone calls in then they have to attend.. Maybe he should of booked on (told the police he was shooting)

when I was a lad you could go down to the post office with ten bob and buy a licence for a shot gun, we would shoot clays all afternoon, no one moaned or called the police, they turned up on the odd occasion to have a go. I remember accidentally going on private land they turned up without guns, and chatted about our mistake we apologised and they left. Whats has happen to our once beautiful country ? well I know who I will vote for in the next election anyone who is for our field sports

@1stMrSceptical you reckon killing defenceless animals is a sport, you reckon playing with guns is a sport, police had to crack down on firearms, many people were getting shot dead by airguns, i know cause my mate accidentally killed some girl by shooting her in the eye with an airgun

I have never killed an animal, I have no hangup about other doing so as long as its 'For the Pot', or for culling. I enjoy FieldTarget shooting and Shooting Clays. Would you stop field Archery ? As for the accident they do happen, the police have made many mistakes ending a life. Shooting someone in the face is not an accident its and act of stupidity. if you walk with a loaded gun do so with breech open

@1stMrSceptical ive no disagreement with shootin 4food but most airgun owners in UK buy them for fun/sport in killin animals,or for violence.My mate who shot dead a girl with an airgun didnt know it was loaded,they were all messin bout drinkin &smokin pot,the rifle went off,went through her eye,lodged in her brain,put her in a coma &she died a few wks later.
therell be much less of this occurrin now theyve clamped down &the environment/wildlife will reap the rewards

@magnusalexa An Air gun should only be cocked or loaded when on target and not before. If you obey the rules all weapons are safe. You can't make a rule for stupidity. Any who make an error of judgement which end in a person being injured should be banned for life from owning any form of gun or weapon I think this would be fair, this would also apply to the police...

@1stMrSceptical most airgun owners in uk buy them for fun, sport or for violence, people need to get worthwhile hobbies and now they gonna be forced too.
