  • I have still the 24 Capricci's played by Oss Renardy and to me they were always a reference till I became aware of Leonid Kogan. I was 13 or 14 y.o. when I realised that classical music was mine.

  • I thought I knew something about violin players...is really sad we can't have this kind of artist as an example for todays artists.

And by the way +500000 stars

  • What a talent!!!

  • Alsolutely GREAT, even more interesting, that this is the Original "Le Strege" written by Paganini. Other violinists are playing Kreisler's arrangement.

    Many THANKS for uploading!

  • what a shame there is not more from renardy. this is another tragic loss to the violin world

agree w mr junky re harmonics and pizz

  • this keeps getting better as it progresses, this man had real style, esp. in the bowing dept. and the portemento, his pizzacato is outstanding--and talk about pitch, this was in the day of one shot recording. This is impressive to say the least. Listen to those harmonics-like crystals. How in the HELL did he liearn this?

  • @Violinjunky:

Practising very slowly each variation, with a realesed left hand rest and shifting in between each harmonics. you also practise them using spot on 8vs... i'm playing this for my end of year recital, and i promise you that this recording is the best i have heard so far.... :)

  • @Violinjunky ...the short answer, of his own accord.....no cds, vinyl, tv or .....how things change..now its all mainstream and digital..y/n playing......of course there are still some great originals out there..he's always been my favourite since finding his recordings of the Bach solo sonatas on 78's in a junk-shop in the late 50's...
