you dont seem to know much about the history of either game but just in case you were curious. warhammer 40k came out in 1987, starcraft came out in 1988. starcraft is believed to have begun as a warhammer 40k game, and then been retooled to avoid copyright infringement. both do contain many similar ideas but this has to do mainly to the fact that both borrow material from the 1959 book starship troopers(later a movie). sorry to rant, but there u have it, not a rip off

Warhammer 40,000 was out a long time before starcraft.

Blizzard requested from games-workshop the rights to make a warhammer 40,000 game. This was denied.

So Blizzard made their own spinoff game with few original ideas out of spite.
