Increasingly, in this world we're forced to listen to people talk bullshit and then forced to respond with yet more bullshit, that when someone like Morrisey speaks openly and with feeling, it's like a light in the fucking dark.
you know, this is completely and utterly irrelevant but i am so in love with brandon flowers....there really isnt anything or anyone that makes me cry or laugh more....but its funny that, how the only person who can dry your tears is the one causing them...i was just wondering whether abstinence keeps morrissey happy and whether i should take it up coz im suffering here...
He's lucky he's intelligent and talented, otherwise he'd have been just another one of those self-entitled, delusional a/holes living off of the working man, and then reprimanding him for eating meat (the meat he eats to gain energy to work to support himself and the pondscum of jerks who are too immoral to keep themselves alive).
@Ataensic Actually the majority of working men and women in the world don't gain their energy from various kinds of processed or unprocessed starch, not meat and vegetal protein. Meat, as tasty as it is, is not indispensable.
I wonder why he flirts with racism. He always has been provocative. Even the question of the apartheid in south africa, he avoids the quesiton entirely which is the only time he does that in this interview. I have heard him say that he likes to hear pop stars take risks, and not just say the same boring thing in the interview. He obviously believes that english culture has disappeared,
I think it is so great how honest he is. He is really smart about the interview by being honest. I admire that about Morrissey....and yes he looks Really GOOD in this interview.
hes just at a whole other level he goes beyond conformity., he states clearly his intention is very real and thats why i think theres this morrissey cult that is behind him, they are a bunch of people that are fed up on how the world works, how love works, how personal affairs work, that the only escape is morrissey. i love how he just clings through the ages, because hes a role model throughout the ages, to the same kind of people that fell in love with his lyrics as when he first started.
I actually find him really funny. When he said "when I appear on TV and look awful it haunts me for months and months and months" I thought it was hilarious. He's got a lovely dark sense of humour!
"I'd blatantly refuse to work". He is one of the few people to slip the word "blatant" into conversation and not use it falsely. If you need any proof that the man knew his diction and did intend the ambiguity that fans attributed to his songs, then concentrate on the loose accuracy as displayed here.
His effete manner as shown in this interview is also no longer, which is a living artifice in itself. This man is ART.
@vuzebittorrent Yes but very few do these days. Many article writers fail to use words such as blatant in the correct intent. Such subtleties as his use of words that are muddled in new meaning in their original definition show his prowess for language. He could have composed his songs in Dickensian dialect I am sure, yet he chose to be accurate and evasive instead.
I was simply commenting on what I observed. Hope you understand. ;)
Morrissey's right. Humans shouldn't be slaves to society. He deserves all the success he gets. Too bad they don't broadcast interviews like this on TV. This is fascinating.
A body language or expressions expert may say that with all the fidgetting he does with his mouth, tongue, and lips, that he has mommy issues, or worse, possibly daddy issues.
His notions about the "job" thing - are exactly as mine...... it's amazing how accurately Mozz depicts the horros of the job market!!!!! HE IS A GENIOUS. PERIOD. AND HE IS ONE OF THE FEW REASONS THAT I'M "SOMEHOW STILL ALIVE..."
What a great interview! Good intelligent interviewer as well, Morrissey's 'public' persona would be greater if he was constantly met by interviewers as intuitive and responsive as this.
The mass-media interview template with its stereotyped 'independent personalities' and soundbite ethos, is rife with content for anyone trying to practice any sincere sense of independence lest they debunk their commercially flourishing competitors!
God bless Morrissey --- The man has opinions and has no fear in sharing them. The ones who criticise him are msierable and social recluses with little confidence. Morrissey is a genius - he is a simple, decent, ordinary man with a healthy arrogance who has made a vital contribution to society and a historically impacting contribution to music.
@DressSmartLookHard "The ones who criticise him are msierable and social recluses"
But Morrissey is the iconic miserable recluse and proud of it--and all of his real fans are as well. He's also not "simple". He's traumatized and brooding, which is why he's so great to alienated youth. Moz forever, but for all the right reasons, of course.
@lbanditti ofcourse were proud of it, theres no other way around it, youre either a fan that likes his one hit song, or youre the fan that totally utterly loves his lyrics because you can relate, he's traumatized and insecure, and hes telling us its ok to be that way. because it is in fact ok to act human and to have these human intentions that sometimes contradict anything and everything. and hes saying that its handsome,. hes pure brilliance.
@lbanditti I think you're forgetting the fact that Morrissey has a huge sense of humour, his lyrics when he was in The Smiths are piss your pants funny half the time!
@DressSmartLookHard I agree with you on all but 1 thing - I think Morrissey is a great hero for recluses and the miserable. I consider myself both those things but Morrissey gives me hope and happiness. Bless his courage, brain and honesty.
I think it's because we as a society have made it into some kind of joke so that we don't have to face the fact that it's being done. I'm not one to preach vegetarianism, but it's fucked. As if somehow, if we laugh or use the excuse 'aha. i would love to stop eating meat, but yumm. burgers", it's ok. Everyone knows it isn't, but much like other inhuman things we humans do...we ignore it to make it go away.
he's so different now to what he was like back in the old days.
here he seems willing to speak about his opinions and vent almost, but in more modern interviews he just seems tires of being asked the same questions over and over.
It's hard to believe that Mozza had such low self esteem in the early years; to the rest of us he's quite exquisite. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose, but these days he has a noticable confidence, that comes with age I suspect, having had a similar experience. It's impossible to shake off completely though.
i don't get it, he's always had a reputation as "difficult" or "mean", i had never seen actual footage of interviews before, he doesn't come off as difficult or arrogant or mean AT ALL... do people just call him
"difficult" because he refuses to behave quite the way they expect?
I saw him slating Jamie Oliver which I thought was a bit irresponsible. I think Oliver has shown himself to be dedicated to improving others' lives; a sentiment that we should all have, including Morrissey.
But, yeah, he doesn't seem difficult or mean in this or many other interviews, he's a very intelligent speaker.
I think that Jamie Oliver cutting a lamb's throat on national TV is irresponsible, but it's what Morrissey always wanted - he wanted people to see how meat ended up on plates because, in his opinion, people didn't realise where meat truly came from. So, for me, it's ironic that Morrissey should slate Oliver.
I remember He one said..."I may have saved many lives but I MAY have destroyed many too...",,,and I really thought...that was very interesting...I think he saved mine...but...well...did he did it with othes...a good man...a great heart...he is the only man in the hole world...that really makes feel something
I think my jaw actually dropped when Morrissey answered that he finds pop stars he meets to be "nice." I don't think I've seen any recent interviews where he speaks so kindly of them, and I was expecting the same here. look-a-like in the smiths period? He should play him in a movie.did very well as johnny cash.I think morrisey would like that as a massive movie fan he is. Anyway,Morrisey: charming man
he´s particularly charming and honest when he acknowledges his naive ignorance regarding the situation in South Africa and says "Next question, please" I could watch that bit a hundred times! (1:34)
Increasingly, in this world we're forced to listen to people talk bullshit and then forced to respond with yet more bullshit, that when someone like Morrisey speaks openly and with feeling, it's like a light in the fucking dark.
