Also sweeping with a pick is less impressive (althought a very impressive talent regardless!) as sweeping finger style takes alot more precision, if you played finger style it would be difficult to pickup a pick just to sweep. For pick-style players doing this stuff regularly makes it seem very "guitary" again that's not bad!

At the very most its one of those things that's different from person to person, but I can sweep with a pick way more easily than with my fingers. With fingers, if you want a warm tone, you have to use your thumb on the way up and index on the way down - it's quite complex to switch between the two and keep the speed, especially if there's only one note at the high/low string.
That said, he's pretty damn skilled and people should STFU.

Yo picks are just another technique for bass. Its like slapping, fingerstyle, etc. Picks are used to achieve a certain sound that is more percussive than fingers. Fingers give a warm, round sound. It really is a preference on what kind of sound you're going for so respect that.

do it how ever you want to. im starting to pick up on sweeping and taping myself and what i tend to do when i learn something is play it slow with the pic to get it down and then i go and use fingers then to try and build speed. my only real problem with fingers is im left handed so it takes me longer because of stamina issues.

I never said that it wasn't hard doing it with a pick. Believe me I've tried with both a pick and fingers. I myself play bass and know that this is hard to do, im just saying in my oppinion it's harder and sounds better when done with fingers rather than a pick.

That could be played without a pick. alot of bassists sweep using alternate picking with their fingers.

do it how ever you want to. im starting to pick up on sweeping and taping myself and what i tend to do when i learn something is play it slow with the pic to get it down and then i go and use fingers then to try and build speed. my only real problem with fingers is im left handed so it takes me longer because of stamina issues.
