@canonixus1 It's because you're on Home Premium. Home Premium and starter both have RAM limits on 64 bit (16GB for Home Premium, not sure about Starter). Professional and upwards have limits of 192GB. All 32-bit versions have limits of 4GB.
I just upgraded my old m/b to the one in the vid. And now it doesn't turn on. Im wondering, has any one else might of had this problem? i dont know why. the only thing I could think of is that im using a 4-pin atx connector when I should be using an 8-pin/ Does anyone know anything about this?
@99macca I used to pronounce it as you do until I saw a commercial for the brand some time back. It was pronounced same way as Linus pronounces it. I'd have to assume that's the correct way. Who would sign off on an advertising campaign if the voice over guy they hired was mangling the pronunciation of their esteemed brand name?
Hey I'm kinda new to everything I bought this mb as a Rec from a friend. I was wondering if I can connect my front panel esata to this board? Possibly on one of the data ports? Any special bios tweaks? Any help is appreciated thanks
Would an Intel i7 980X work well with this motherboard? Would Asus' Sabertooth be better? What about the GA-X58A UD3R. No over clocking here, just looking for a stable motherboard! Thanks!
for you information, the intel core i5 2500-k (sandy bridge processor) is nearly as powerful as the intel i7 980x and is $800 cheaper. Expensive eh? I think not.
besides, how is intel's latest processor a hoax? Google sandy bridge and see what ya get.
@andrejivan The difference is: P6X58D PREMIUM has two more heatpipes, so better cooling, more accessories, express gate (P6X58D-E does not), 2 more USB ports at the back, clear cmos switch, 2 Lan ports and fancier packaging.
@Prophet776 Then they should have hired an english person to sound out the spelling and properly spelled it Asoos if that's how they wanted it pronounced.
@beayn That makes no sense, you are trying to have them spell it Phoenetically for the English language, and yet most English words aren't spelt phonetically anyway.
'House' is not 'Howse', 'Boat' is not 'Bote', 'Phone' is not 'Fone' or 'Foan' etc. etc. etc. etc.
And as wtfpwnage said, they are Taiwanese, I'm sure they weren't thinking "How will English speaking people say this?" when they created the company.
I wasn't having a go at you, was just telling you how it was actually pronounced.
@Prophet776 You just quoted rules of spelling in English, which was exactly my point. Name a word in which a u by itself with no e on the end is pronounced 'oo' and does not have an umlaut above it. I can't think of any. Pool is not spelled Pul for example. Most of the English rules are very rarely broken.
Everyone I know and have ever met says "A-sus" based on English rules. This vid is the first time I've heard "asoos". Why wouldn't you want your company name pronounced properly?
The fact is, they aren't english speaking as their primary language, they named their company what they wanted to, and they pronounce it how they want to. If that's what it's called then that's what it's called.
Call them whatever you want, doesn't bother me and I'm sure it doesn't bother them.
You asked a question, I just thought I'd answer it, not to argue. Simple equation, Question, Answer.
I would of liked a few other things on the board, E-Sata on the back I/O, the P6T cooling system, not only did it look cooler, but I think it would of done a nicer job, and this is purely for looks, but I wish that the board was Black / Orange colour scheme instead of blue/ light blue.
OMG I love your videos!! I was watching some tiger direct videos and they just sucked. Seems like everything they say is scripted. I love how you just wing it and when you run into things you aren't sure about, you admit it and don't bullshit your way through it. Your also my neighbor across the sea! Go Vancouver!! lol
I lovz this model but I prefer the sabertoothX58 4 all the cool MOSFET - ceramix - cooling stuff. However I have a hard time diff. it w/ the Asus P6XH68D-E; both are X58/ICH10 mobo w/ USB3.0, SATA 6.0 GB, 6xDIMM DDR3 triple channel up to 24GB, the same amount of ports and slots, and cost approx. the same price.
The only differences I've seen so far is the Realtek 889 audio chip instead of a 889 and 1 more PCIex16 slot.
So I guess the 2 MB are designed for 2 diff. types of demand... Which ones?
Unlimited energy sources are out there! But Elite controllers don't want ppl to be free from the costs of energy,Get a motor that works with the power of magnets only at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Start the energy revolution!
@F4H33M97 Well Rampage III gene is micro ATX and not ATX.
IMHO - and only IMHO! - you should go for a Rampage only if you bought a high-end CPU like the Intel i7 Extreme 980X. If you deal with any other "conventional" i7, 920, 950, 960 etc... you shouldn't go for a Rampage. Rampage are for extreme, extreme overclocker geeks who really want to OC to the max the most powerful CPU available. Not to mention that Rampage III + 980X + extreme cooling system is 4 times more expensive.
There is one factual error in this video that one should be aware of. The guy claims that this board supports "ALL" i7 and i7 Extreme processors. That of course can't be true, because the i7-800 series of processors are designed for the LGA 1156 socket. Just so you know I was paying attention.
If i'll use the first and the third PCI-E slot for a dual SLI setup, will i get 16x / 16x or 8x / 8x bandwith? I know that the second slot supports x16 but I'm not sure if the third does...
i had this motherboard and i did everything i suppose to do but i cant hear a motherboard sound on it even i move the ram out still no sound means some wrong with motherboard or cpu any help plzzzzzzz
Hi, I thought I'd let you know on what those jumpers are for. The manual for this board on page 2.6 states: "These jumpers allow you to enable or disable the CPU, DRAM bus, and QPI overvoltage settings in the BIOS. These jumpers then allow you to switch the settings from 1.7 V to 2.48 V range.
So I take it's used for Voltage overclocking jumbers. Though I'm not sure why you need this since this can be done in the Bios anyways. Though it's good to know for CPU/RAM voltage settings.
What do you mean by "better"? It can do virtually everything the premium can. The differences are that the E has no heat pipe cooling on the southbridge, 1 ethernet port instead of 2, and no reset button.
But from what I have read the E has a different (better?) RAID controller than the premium. I think the E is better. The premium costs a lot more and you don't really gain anything amazing.

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R versus Asus P6X58D-E (same price here).
Which of the two is better and more reliable. I know the most obivous differences are that the Asus mobo does not have eSATA and one less PCI-E v2.0, but aside from this, which would you recommend ?
@razzp25 I bought the Asus P6X58D-E it was a bit cheaper a few days ago. I don't really need e-SATA and the extra PCI-e slot. Dual bios sounds nice but isn't necessary either. Furthermore, I dont get why the Gigabyte motherboard still has IDE and floppy. Hardly anyone uses 'em. I have ordered an XFX HD5870 and will be doing a crossfire in the future so max 2 cards.
it is up to the board manufacturer to supply 3 way sli connector or crossfire bridge if they feel the need to if the pci express lanes are different to others
i just did a build with this board and an i7930 it posted fine but none of the usb ports seem to work so i dont have a mouse and its impossible to navigate windows w/o one any help would be greatly appreciated other than that it seems like a great board spects are i7930 thermaltake frio gtx 285 crucial 128gb ssd corsair hx1000 /windows7

Which of the two is better and more reliable. I know the most obivous differences are that the Asus mobo does not have eSATA and one less PCI-E v2.0, but aside from this, which would you recommend ?

@MG5319 hmm what do u need? how many gpu etc?
razzp25 1 year ago
@razzp25 I bought the Asus P6X58D-E it was a bit cheaper a few days ago. I don't really need e-SATA and the extra PCI-e slot. Dual bios sounds nice but isn't necessary either. Furthermore, I dont get why the Gigabyte motherboard still has IDE and floppy. Hardly anyone uses 'em. I have ordered an XFX HD5870 and will be doing a crossfire in the future so max 2 cards.

@delonh92 Yes,but if someone want 3 way sli brige?
XVAGOSX1 1 year ago
@XVAGOSX1
it is up to the board manufacturer to supply 3 way sli connector or crossfire bridge if they feel the need to if the pci express lanes are different to others

@asus3571
did you put the pins to correct places? or you should just call for warranty
ashrocks87 1 year ago
@ashrocks87 yea there in the right places but that should have nothing to do with the onboard usb ports on the back of the mobo
