Say what you will.....but nothing is greater than smoking a doobie and drinking Moonshine thats been aging since 1968 while watching Gunsmoke with my Godfather every Sunday. Don't judge us.
The credits are not accurate fro this episode! These are for "Gold train the bullet" I wonder where and how the credits can get separated from its episode? Curious!!!
At @6:22 that look on Matts face as he's riding into town, wow I've never seen a look say so much in any western, tv or movie (great job Matt). Talk about memories, I just can't get enough of Gunsmoke.
Back hand across the mouth when they mess with Marshell Dellon. I think I will try that on a few people I know. Who am I trying to kid? If it works then it's going to be more like a few million people. I will also take it one step futher than the Martial Back hand with some brass knuckles on.
How effective a music cue can be. I knew the boy was not really the son of the dead man because there was no cue at the moment he said he was. Normally there would have been a piquant or plaintive music cue at that point.
you may think this is just a story line, but the whiteman was just that nieve, and still is,it took 5 too10 men an in some cases women to lynch 1 black man, sound like somebody is scared...."hummmm"
Color film during this period was always 'timed' which means color filters would be added to printing each scene to correct for lighting changes or darkened areas..I used to work for a company that sold the color correction equipment along with a precision CRT television monitor to review the changes in real time..also the masters for these film prints deteriorate over time..Very expensive to remaster a 60 minute episode digitally....
In response to Teflon65 - this is indeed the first color episode. TVLand runs it right after Manolo. I found out somewhere that Manolo was supposed to be the 2nd to the last episode, according to imdb - but that the Sharecroppers was actually shown last. When TVLand ends with Manolo, Snap Decision will be next. Next shown on TVLand - Manolo on February 14, 2011, and Snap Decision on February 15th.
@reneecalling Yes!! This is indeed the great Michael Cole! One of the best actors around. Another convincing performancel. This was only his second credited acting job yet he handled it like a pro! Sadly, he has never received his due for all his amazing work.
@32:16 Mat walks out the door and he's not wearing a gun. When they switch to the outside shot he is wearing a gun as he steps through the door. Continuity error.
I thought this might have been the first color episode, because it was the first one TV Land showed after finishing the final season, but I wasn't sure.
Random question- why is all of the main characters wearing blue? Festus's usually doesn't wear blue, neither does Matt, his shirt is pinkish red, Kitty has never worn a ur dress as far as Ive remembered, and the new Marshall is also wearing blue, as is Thad wearing a light blue checkered shirt. Surely it means something.... The costume dept didn't decide to do all blue on accident... Strange.
@SpoiledKitty07 Planned choreography, in which a choreographer dictates motion and form in detail, leaving little or no opportunity for the actor/actress to exercise personal interpretation.
@Kilooscarromeo You know looking at it again & i've noticed a lot of blue even in the background characters, even structures. This was 1966. Your soooo right. Has to be a specific reason why they did this, i'm curious?
Introduction of color into the GunSmoke series ? For additive combination of colors, as in overlapping projected lights or in CRT displays, the primary colors normally used are red, green, and blue. HMMMM interesting calibration of some sort maybe? Would you agree ?
