People people stop fighting, let's put this pointless argument to rest. Karen Carpenter's version is was and will always be the definitive best. , period. The fact that Donna's voice is flat and sharp on some notes immediately takes her out of even hoping to compete with the great Karen Carpenter along with a host of other reasons that make this nice polite attempt nothng more than exactly that.

These types of arguments are pointless. It's one of the great pop songs of all time. Both ladies sing it beautifully. Just chill out and enjoy one of the most amazing tunes ever penned.

donna can sing, but her voice lacks the magic of karen's. and karen sings this song with a darkness and a sadness that can't be matched. as one poster on youtube once said, "karen had a teardrop in her voice." just lovely. i'm glad that donna is covering a carps song, but this song really does belong to karen, just as "rainy days and mondays," "for all we know," "yesterday once more," "goodbye to love," and many other melancholy songs do.
