  • oh I LOVE the little boy's aeroplane swing!

  • Ok lets talk about this song. (I forgot all about that that I wrote). Next topic. why won't this play in a playlist. Screw ya sony enterainment! This song needs more exposure for its awesomeness.

  • Why are people talking crap about racism on the page of such a great song? Enough with the crap. Its all about the music!

  • What were the lines he changed?

  • some really racist comments here white people built this country and 2 claim otherwise is so fkn racist it makes me B0iL

  • @quark4567 unfortunately white people were too proud to do the shit kicker jobs so to deny there was a role played by non whites is equally as racist.

  • MY LAST NAME IS BRAITHWAITE. OH MY GOSH I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS.

  • absolutly brilliant song

  • Who's a politico? anyone here? not me, just good music. Has any one of you got a brain? if you have an opinion join a party,....... Otherwise enjoy or ???.. Not.....

  • Definately not as good as the origional by Chosen Few, Daryl totally stuffed it up by changing a few lines and variations. BRING BACK THE CHOSEN FEW!!!

  • Great Track

  • Australia lost its identity in the 90's when communications improved which allowed us to easier access information mainly from the us and by continuing to become urbanised. Now our attitudes and likes reflect the us where now we have become self absorbant and materalistic. I would love if we regained our identity where we make our own music, tv shows and movies and also get our politically incorrect humour back.

  • @outofideas101 .... Australia lost its identity when they let in WAY to many immigrants that do not respect Australian culture....

  • @westeh you racist bastard. Australia would not be what it is without the wogs, chinks, commies and all the other ethnic groups that bloody well built this country. Learn your history before you say shit.

Australia's identity is multicultural and thats why I love it. It's dickheads like you that get scared of someone who looks different that ruin the place

  • @memberHD So are you trying to tell me that everything was already here when the English turned up ? ..... The chinese came in the gold rush in limited numbers post WW2 we had migrants who conformed like us and continued to build this country but the vietnamese and arabs the johnny come lately's have done nothing for this country .... You are a generation Y moron who has been brainwashed .... go and talk your shit to a WW2 veteran or a Baby boomer who faught in Vietnam they will spit on you

  • @helbyr1 Im sorry but your wrong. If you believe the English build everything in Australia you clearly have no understanding of Australian History.

Also to say todays immigrants do nothing is immature. Every immigrant i know (minus kiwis) are a lot more successful then any aussie i know.

Anyone with any respect for another human, probably wouldn't spit on you, but they'd label you a tool

  • @memberHD.... More Incoherent ramblings from a Generation Y feminised moron.... What can I expect tho you were probably schooled by women, The cane had already been removed from the schools long before you arrived and your parents are most likely winde drinkers and your mother named you..... How's those slip on shoes going fag boy ?

  • @helbyr1 why U such a racist bigot..

  • So blessed for having grown up outside of the damn city! This clip sums it up pretty well (Y)

  • nice ausie rock.

  • Braithwaite did some of his best work around this time....Horses as well. This is a true Australian classic.

  • @MrBedoe

Trying to get hold of Danny, Pal and Abe, my wife loved seeing them live, way back then, do yo know where they are these days.

    Tony

  • @surfclubtony They were in Mandurah on new years. He was tearing it up.

  • this video makes me hard

  • @novembergirl80 -its great aye! lifts the spirits

  • This song was written and originally recorded by Sydney band 'The chosen Few' Paul Reed and Danny Macarthy but only became a hit when Darly chose to re record it. This is what happens when record company's own the publishing rights to music. Although i believe Paul and Danny are still making money from this song when it is played on radio around the world or used in a sound track to a TV show. Love the melody.

  • rise always reminds me of my mothers side of the family nothing but arguments, daryl's songs got me through some trying times going through break ups and learning to live again he is a ledgion also out of intrest did you know he was at shirleys funeral from skyhooks

  • 80's Australia when Aussie's were allowed to be proud of OUR own identity and music and thought American / Euro wannabe's were dickheads and poofters lol...Where did it all go wrong???

  • Because Times Changed

& So did the people thank GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Couldnt have said it better myself, The good old days Seeing Darryl Play in Perth in 2 weeks cant wait

  • @chocisgod that's cos australian identity in the 1970s and 1980s was homophobic and claustrophobic lol... thank god it's got better. Rise was a great song tho.

  • @chocisgod Respect

  • @chocisgod Somewhere between the end of Hey hey and the end of Full frontal.. Basically when people lost their sense of humor and the good ol' Australian "who gives a fk" attitude.

  • @chocisgod - I'm so hearing ya mate!

  • @chocisgod mtv dude

  • @chocisgod I'm with you all the way bra lets bring it back!

  • @chocisgod Advertisers realised the kids where the one with the disposable money

  • @chocisgod There was money still in music around this time. Some very lucrative amounts came in and artists were given the best of everything from time, technology and support to make music. But we had a double whammy in the early 90's. I'll put some musings on this on an Australian Music Industry Wiki page.

  • cool song, it reminds me of summer for some reason. hot weather chilling with good friends, and good times

  • AWESOME

  • Lost classic

  • really nice song :) gogo Daryl!

  • Great song.

Looking at the list of comments, no-one has gotten into any meaty subject.

Here is a tender toe in the water about something I am all the way passionate about.

If we take from the planet *at a rate which is faster* than the rate at which the planet provides resources (through geological and biological forces), aren't we, by definition, impoverishing what remains available? I think it is crucial to ask this question. Wherever possible!

    Great song. Thanks Daryl!

    All the best all.
