Peter Noone quit Herman's Hermits in 1970. The bass player (Geoff Foote) joined shortly afterwards. In 1975, Barry Whitwam (drummer) and Derek Lekenby (original lead guitar player) went to court in England and were awarded the rights to the name "Herman's Hermits". Sure this isn't Mr. Noone but this lineup is very good. I have seen them five times over the years. You couldn't pay me enough to see Peter Noone.

Not lip syncing. The lead vocal in this clip is Geoff Foote. I have seen them 5 times and have a couple of their CD's. Geoff's voice is very distinctive and I can tell this is not Peter Noone.
what is wrong with all you people, is Mick Jagger the Rolling Stones, is Steven Tyler Aerosmith, is RObert Plant Led Zeppelin, and is Steve Perry Journey? @hallie1028 not a cover band, all are the original Herman's Hermits bandmembers, Peter Noone simply no longer performs with them, and does solo performances using his own name...but is the original band performing here, or should say lypsynching here.
@OTIStheCYCLOPS You know, you're right!!!I can't believe they sounded that good.I bought the 45rpm when the song first came out.My favorite!!How many groups can do a song over 40 years later and still sound that good live on stage.Be honest,I don't know any.I'm totally amazed.
They look good for there age. The olds although I was not present until 80, looks hip, big time, and I really like it. You can tell the difference on how much this country has change since them days.
@TixXx395 The left handed Bass Player was Karl Green who left the original Hermits group over 15 years ago. This group was put together by original Hermits drummer Barry Whitam after the passing of the original lead guitar player ( and one of my closest friends, Lec). I still keep in contact with Barry and he's having a ball working with these very talented guys.
Whitwam resorted to publicly putting down fellow 60's star Wayne Fontana over his mental problems in an attempt to make himself look better on HH website. That was the all time low, I met Whitwam once, didn't like him and will never go to see him again after that.
It looks like they are "singing" playback to the original 60's track. If so, what's the meaning with this. Still, the song is still one of Graham Gouldman's masterpieces.
I assume that is the Herman's Hermits band, even if hardly any of the original lineup remains. As how the Temptations were in the 70s, there are two Herman's Hermits bands, the original and the touring band Peter Noone labels the band name to after having been out of the band for years. I saw Noone live back in '05, and this is how it was. Even the shirt I had autographed while he was sitting at the merch stand has a big Herman's Hermits logo. I know, it's bullcrap that he still uses the name.
this stinks- these are not the hermits- and that guy is definitely not Peter Noone(Herman) wouldnt be so bad if they didnt keep cutting back to the reall band in the sixties... as if that was a before and current view...
Gotta admit the music from the 60's was a lot better than a lot of today's music. I almost hate to admit I remember when this song first came out too.. lol
The singer is leaving the milkman a note not to leave any milk that morning (notes would be left in the empty returned bottles left out the night before). Because his love has left him and he won't be needing any.
A two-up-two-down is a house with two downstairs rooms and two upstairs rooms.
This is probably my favorite HH song... but with Peter Noone singing.
@MBFLA45 why isn't peter singing?? and who then is the singer here? i noticed they were only four, is peter missing? i'm badly informed on the old HH...
Funny story when I first worked with the Hermits. the guys told me to shut off Barry's mike, but not tell him. I guess he was a lousy singer. The next time I worked with them, they told me not worry about setting up Barry's mike that they finally told him. Always had fun with those guys!
50s research is correct. I worked with Hermits in the 70s and Lec was one of my closest friends. I still keep in touch with Barry. Barry explained to me that he owns the rights to the name since he is the only original member of the Hermits still touring and they their is a warrant for Peters arrest if he ever sets foot in the U.K. Legally, Peter was Herman, the rest of the group were "The Hermits" so Peter has no legal rights to the name "Herman's Hermits.
This isn't the case right now as, until Peter tours the UK as HH, he hasn't broken any laws. To be honest a trademark violation of this nature rarely results in arrest, more likely long winded lawsuits with lkots of overpaid lawyers.
@abuiltmale I was lucky enough to meet Lec in the early 80's, what a true gentlemen he was and a pleasure to interview for the local radio. I do, however, feel that when he passed so did The Hermits. I get the imporession that Barry hires local 'cabaret' musicians who are cheap to pay and not as professional as they could be. Keith & Karl are still with us, I really feel that if he could get one of these back on the road there would be some credibility. However I do appreaiate Barry has to work.
This is what's left of the original Herman's Hermits: drummer Barry Whitwam and three "new" musicians. The others had left years ago (including Peter Noone). Barry claims he has the right to call the band Herman's Hermits as he's the only one who never left the band. Noone performs mainly in the US as "Herman's Hermits featuring Peter Noone". Of the other original members Derek Leckenby died in 1994. Keith Hopwood &
Karl Green stopped performing, but worked in other fields of the music industry.
I totally agree...and I'm German too BUT I HATE WHEN OTHERS ARE CLAPPING! I'm not the only one with this opinion, in fact there are many with the same...but unfortunate the crowd who's used to visit those events aren't much smart (or aesthetic-oriented enough) to realize how bad it sounds...also totally unable to keep at least the right rythm while clapping...duuh. Another phenomenon is, when some start with that the rest felt forced to follow. Pity! With respect from North-Germany
In 1975, Barry Whitwam (drummer) and Derek Leckenby (original lead guitar) went to court in England and were granted the rights to the name Herman's Hermits. Barry Whitwam is drummer in this clip so this is the "official" Herman's Hermits.
I don't think Lek did turn against Peter, I got the impression that he was kind of caught up in the middle of the Whitwam/Noone disagreements and just trying to keep the peace. There were no real big disputes over the name until Lek passed away. Lek spoke very highly of Peter and I genuinelly felt that if they could all work together again under the HH name Lek would've jumped at the chance.
are they all still alive

With Lek there was a bit of credibility but Barry has let these guys go to pot hiring cheap musicians instead of keeping HH a class act.
