Definitely some interesting comments on this so far. This is an extremely hard tag to pull off, and I doubt that any of your grievers could sing this very well. Overall, it was not a bad effort, especially considering that you did the Bari part full voice, as opposed to flipping into falsetto. The chord didn't quite lock, but overall it wasn't a bad tag.
Artismylife55.. don't believe Krustwell. He's a good bowler. He's even better at frisbee golf. If you wanna bet some money, then let me know. I could use a few extra bucks.
Maybe the wobble of the out of tune octave? Don't get me wong he did a good job but like some of the other people said it sounded little off and one of the main things was the last chord didn't tune all the way.
Just out of curiousity, can you tell me in which order you recorded each part? I'm trying to guess from the facial expressions... I suspect the Lead was last, judging by his nervous look as the tag nears its end, before smiling as he hears the final chord ringing
haha! i like your theory, but the only ringing i heard was from Realtime playing in my headphones as i was recording.
i did Bass, Lead, Bari, Tenor. that's the easiest for me b/c that's the order i hear things and pick them out.
the bari part is the coolest. i emailed Brent Graham and told him what a great arranger he is, this one in particular (he also did "Cry Me a River" and "Story of the Rose" for Realtime). AND he's a nice guy! wrote me back and everything.
Haha fair play man. The look on the Bass' face towards the end is priceless. I think your performance of this is the best, simply because you use chest voice for the baritone part, which (as Finey said) is how it should sound. The baritone part wasn't written with great sensitivity for the range of most baritones however, since it is quite high!
I love this vid, because you did it well...I made the same video, but I got the bass messed up...you made this seem easy, I might make a renewed one once I check out your vid more or Big O's video...
Go to my channel and click on that video and comment if you want!
thanks for the kind words. this definitely isn't an easy one, but like i said in the description; i obsessed over it for a year and listened to it all the time so it came easier to me than most other tags. you notice this is the only one i have posted, and that's why.
the hardest part for me was picking out the Bari from the Lead in the first part ("I'm longing..."). in fact, i believe i got the Lead part slightly wrong. oh well. the Bass and Tenor are pretty straightforward.
I figured you were a lead, and I know boneman's a bass, Big O's a bari and bbstenor's a tenor, so I thought you guys did another cooperative tag...
Also, I'd leave a comment on the video, but I'm at work and have no sound, so I can't listen to it yet... I will when I get home though, after my qtet rehearsal!
hey man. yeah, my wording was a little confusing: what i meant was we had all given this tough one a shot individually. although, BoneMan has since taken his down.
thanks for checking it out! FinneyLeee looking at my stuff...now i'm all nervous.
Nah, I think you have a nice sound. You managed that baritone in chest voice also, which is what it's supposed to be. If i could give you a tip, it would be to dare to sing out more. For each recording, sing as if you were singing it with a loud quartet! And don't mind the neighbors =)
I suppose.

It sounds great. And besides.. what are the odds of identical quadruplets each growing up to sing different parts? Amazing.
