I wonder why the fencers always have some French name like Jean or Rafael. This time they were probably going for "Jeanne" for a female character and ended up with "Janne", a common Finnish male name. :) They spell it differently, unlike the Finnish "yan-negh", they spell it like "Jan" [male] and the postfix "ne" is silent and might imply female gender.

World Heroes 2 was the first modern fighting game (if not just fighting game) to have:

* Air-dashing

* The ability to reflect projectiles

* Counter-grab (or when your opponent grabs you, you grab them back)

In WH1, it was the first to have multi-jumping, as well as the first in the modern fighting genre to have environmental hazards. Geegus isn't a rip-off of Shang Tsung, because WH1 and MK1 were in development at the same time; however, WH1 came out a little earlier. Unlike SFII, WH1 uses 3 buttons instead of 6 buttons, making WH1 more convenient.

Many want them to feel like "No items (novelty/gimmick), Fox only (fast and hard), Final Destination (flat surface with nothing else)". No matter how hard any company works, there will never be a near-perfect game in any genre.

"Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game" is an awful way to refer to whichever version you mean: SFTM arcade or SFTM home game (a.k.a. Real Battle on Film)?

This was probably the best of all the World Heroes games, nice music, it played faster than the original (control was kind of junky, though), decent graphics and a cast of oddball characters, what wasn't to love? Sure, they were never as good as the Street Fighter II, Fatal Fury or King of Fighters games... but they were fun, at least to me.

The announcer may not interpret names and countries (as) correctly due to pronunciation limitations. Speaking of this, did you know that in the Japanese version, Dragon's country was labelled as "China" instead of "South Korea"?

This game gives me more trouble than any other NeoGeo fighting series, even on Easy setting! The controllers are so wonky I feel like I only win purely out of luck. I still want to beat it but the 'tap or hold down' weak/strong attack is weird; glad it never caught on far as I know.

farcher3, remember that the NEO GEO was released around 1990 along with the SNES and after the Megadrive and PCEngine, so it was around after the NES era. And what do you mean it had near 16 bit graphics?, it was more advanced than every "16 bit" console, although SNES had some advantages over it.

Your right. This game isn't the best but back in the 90s it was an intersting alternative to Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 1. People also liked it because it showed off the illusive NEO GEO system which had near 16-bit graphics during the NES's time! This Neo-geo system was expensive! This game also showed funny and more ethnic varieties of fighters. If you want to see a bad game, google: "fighter's history" IT WAS AWEFUL.."Shaq-fu aweful!"

The icing on the cake is Neo Geegus, which isn't only indiscernible but ugly.....and shows ADK's laziness-transformed into characters's game! On top of that the power moves are anecdotals, the game is too SLOW considering you can't Dash and the whole Game System is as uninteresting as Street Fighter 2....in despite of this i must confess i love Introduction Sequence and Death Match is a good idea!!

To me, the problem with this game is the characters aren't charismatic enough compared to other Neo Geo games (Samurai shodown, Last Blade or Fatal Fury!) Who wants to play with J Maximum, J.Carn, Muscle Power (they are so slow) or this ridiculous Shura when you know Joe Higashi (Jeanne/Charlotte)! All the others except Kim Dragon, Fuuma and Hanzou seems to belong to a Carnival....

Does the "Level 1" at the bottom represent the CPU difficulty level? My MAME version of this game is always set to "Level 4" and I'm not sure how to change it.

Yep thats the difficulty level, but doesnt have such a big effect. To change that you have to enter the dip switch menu.
