And I don't think these people cared whether they looked stupid or smart - the idea was to stop weapons, and recycling of weapons, in the community. And actually, it worked. The Olympia Port is no longer used by the military.

When the purpose of traffic is to facilitate illegal activity (an aggressive war and the occupation that follows), a citizen is dutybound to impede it. Those blocking the road are more in compliance with the law than the trucker.

Recently we're slowing military shipments back into the country, not endangering troops. These used supplies will only be recycled and made into more military supplies. We welcome the honorable troops home and support them staying here if they choose to. As for shipments going out from our port to Iraq, one would hope our gov't would be smart enough not to push the troops out into combat w/out proper supplies. Many of us have family over there, been over there, or lost someone to this war.

When the purpose of traffic is to facilitate illegal activity (an aggressive war and the occupation that follows), a citizen is dutybound to impede it. Those blocking the road are more in compliance with the law than the trucker.

Wow..a mother using her children to block trucks leaving the port of Olympia. She physically walked them into the street and sat down in front of an 18wheeler loaded with cargo bound to Fort Lewis. What is not shown is she later allowed her breast feeding infant to fall from her lap and land, face first on the pavement.

If he gets paid a flat rate for the load he is not being compensated for the extra time he had to sit there. If he drives over the road he doesn't get to see his family every night like a person working a regular job. He's gone weeks at a time. You dumb ass hippies should try getting a job sometime so you understand how this shit works.

Registering discontent by the side of the road isn't working. Most people in the US oppose the war, but that isn't bringing it any closer to ending. Perhaps if the president were more responsive to the public sentiment this wouldn't be necessary. The war and occupation in Iraq is taking tens of thousands of innocent lives so it is a human being's responsibility to interrupt the war.

Recently we're slowing military shipments back into the country, not endangering troops. These used supplies will only be recycled and made into more military supplies. We welcome the honorable troops home and support them staying here if they choose to. As for shipments going out from our port to Iraq, one would hope our gov't would be smart enough not to push the troops out into combat w/out proper supplies. Many of us have family over there, been over there, or lost someone to this war.
