Duh! it's not down to the amount of wheels doing the driving in this case but the fact the tyres are not suitable, they are far too wide, very low profile and with road treads. Things like Range Rover Sport are also rubbish in similar situations with this kind of rubber As for the laughter......I'd have been pissing myself, spend all that cash on a motor and can't get off the lawn!! i have this same car and urs is brokenthe front drive shaft flex disc is broke and with no limited slip diff in the rear you get this lol and you dont know how to drive a Manuel cause u fired ur clutch
The person fliming is a coward motherfucker. The man in the Porsche clearly needed help and your laughing like a Jackel. Karma will bite you in the ass someday were YOU are in a situation were YOU need help.
@rochief2000 That's the difference between a 4WD and an AWD. AWD has a center differential that puts torque to the wheels with the least traction, and I bet it's rear biased in a Porsche (and meant for performance, not off-road!). That means that it becomes a RWD the moment that you most need it to be a 4WD! Even 4WD trucks with open diffs send torque to the wheels with least traction, but at least you'll always have 2 driving wheels, f/r. This car is sending 95% power to a single rear wheel.
@justforever96 you're right about this. However when you buy such an expensive car with awd you would expect more grip especially on wet surfaces. So I guess this was a very frustrating situation. I also expected this Porsche to have some electronic anti-slip system which should have detected the fact that the rear wheels were spinning in vain and send more power to the front wheels. I was also surprised to see the front wheels not spinning at all. So it must be all mechanical dif
@rochief2000 A Porsche may be expensive, but it's mostly meant for speed and handling. Even so, it probably does get good traction in most situations. But like I said, wet grass is VERY slippery stuff, and he's probably got summer tires on. A 4x4 truck would probably get stuck on that stuff, with those tires. Ever try walking on a wet grass slope in sneakers? Same idea. The tires you use make a huge difference once you get to extremes on any kind of terrain, mud or racetrack.
@rochief2000 (Note) I'm not sure on the exact biasing of the Porsche, but I do know that 90% of the time that an AWD car, especially one that is performance oriented, is not great at slippery (off-road) conditions. And short, wet grass is among the slipperiest stuff out there! Even a 4WD truck would have a lot of trouble if it had road-performance tires on it! I've been stuck on a shallow slope, on wet grass, in a 4WD SUV because it had worn summer tires on it.
@ZirgulasHeals Would an experienced driver who knew the limits of his car put himself and his car in this position? i think not... also, listen to the revs hes using - revving far too high. assuming its a manual (might be a tip - but a good driver would prefer a manual box) use less revs, possibly 2nd gear to limit torque, and let the clutch out slowly. Dont rev it up to spin the wheels..
Some thin wood or thick cardboard under the wheels would help let the tyres get enough traction to get some momentum, then it should keep moving if he controls the throttle properly
seriously you're a fucking dick. perfect illustration of what's wrong in the world- instead of actually going to help someone who clearly could have used a hand.. you instead prioritize youtube and standing there idly, even laughing at times. it doesn't matter what he's driving, what level of skill he has, whether the porsche is awd or 4wd.. ultimately he's a guy that could've used a helping hand of a charitable human being and you left him stranded. fuck you
@bj2905 It sounds to me like they are buddies, and one foolishly backed his car onto the grass and got stuck. I see nothing wrong with laughing at him for a few minutes, or filming it for Youtube, as long as you help him out sooner or later. Of course, if you were to walk away and leave him to fend for himself, or if it was a stranger who was stuck, THEN you'd be an asshole. Anyway, they're probably both rich boys who wouldn't even consider the idea of pushing a car, either of them.
@bj2905 he was hardly in the desert...it looks like he was on an estate about 50 yards from tea and crumpets. and the guy filming got it right, he should have just left it til the rain stopped.
@bj2905 You have a point, but it looks like hes in his yard, anyway your right, i have ass hole friends where i am the one to help them when they break down, get stuck ect ect.... but noone can help me if i need help, people these days are turning into pieces of shits.
@bj2905 ahhh your a dick buddy you can clearly see that these two people are friends and that is AWD C4S getting stuck on wet grass. Way to blow something simple and actually funny way the hell out of proportion.
@aweav210 as proven by every pointless argument on youtube, a ridiculous point of behavior to which I also (obviously) succumb, people are sheep they simply follow or run away, hiding behind senseless youtube comments. I'm guilty of this too, but what's to say that if one person were to put his/her prejudices and principles aside and went to help the Porsche driver that others would have done similar. It seems to me that scenario is fairly likely. Sorry, if I've offended you.
@fatqwert200 Uh...who was talking about VW bugs and replacing clutches? All I see is a Porsche...so close, yet so very different at the same time. And it's easier to drop the engine on a VW than most cars, in my opinion. You can swap a VW engine on your lunch break. Or so I've heard! =)
Just because it has power to the four wheels, it doesn't make it an all terrain vehicle, it's a sports car, optimized for traction on asphalt, it lacks a differential lock as shown in your video.
snow & ice in the UK -expect plenty of these to be stuck on the drive or in the gutter, what is the point of owning a car that you cant drive safely in winter ??
@fipsfoxy what i meant is that it isnt like this at all in performance not looks, the c4s 997 would easily get out of there and im sure a 996 c4s would do that as well, and btw i know way more than u think about porsches and i am the 1 who convinced my father to buy it after 5 months of reading listening seeing and riding in 911's so dont think im the spoiled boy who just watches videos and comment about my DADDYS car. good luck djing/doing whatever u do hope u buy a descent car in the future
@shobin05 Because he's turning the wheels and therefor increasing the resistence to overcome. If he would turn them straight and would rock backwards and forwards, he would propably make it. No garantee, but that's simple offroad-school stuff. But as tomsailas already said, these tyres are near to slick and so there tends to be nearly no grip at all.
@MrJeremiahLieschke I don't know. On wet and/or cold days, when you get stuck and rev a car up while it's not moving forwards, the exhaust tends to stay around the car, and looks a lot like that. But it'd have to be like 20deg F for it too show up that strong, so yeah, it's probably the clutch.
4s initiates when turning on corners to optimize the best cornering hangling for entering and exiting. However their newer systems do sense slippage better and react..

Dude next time choose one of these two options:
1. wait for the rain to stop
2. take your car out of that grass with the back first! if it doesn't work when you push, try to pull. high rpm doesn't solve the problem.
however no traction could be seen coming from the front wheels, so it might not be a c4s.

This is not a AWD Porsche. It's a 2wd model. Any AWD model worth its salt would perform much better than this. Those claiming that the AWD is only for "grip" are mislead. The Porsche AWD performs better than this in the muck, rain, and snow- you should see the fronts occasionally spin. This car is either 2WD, or a broken AWD that had problems before it even got into this situation. Unfortunately, there's an idiot driving this car adding to the problem.
