i can remember the two shows that lil wally preformed on the lawance welk show. we milked the cows early both nights so we were in the house to watch. this was a big deal back than.
I remember seeing this on TV when it first aired. My Parents, Grandparents never missed the Welk show and I was right there with them. Thanks!! Wally has always been the King of Polkas.
L'il Wally owned his own record company, Jay Jay Records of Miami Beach, FL. There was never a website, but Wally sold his LP's, cassettes, 45's, a few CD's and a DVD or two, by mail order catalog.
Transferring the old LP material to CD proved expensive, so Wally limited his CD offerings.
Less than 6-months prior to his death and in failing health, Wally was having a going-out-of-business sale. He wanted to sell all the items left in his warehouse, including hundreds of albums.
This is one of my favorite videos on Youtube. The Lawrence Welk show with Lil Wally performing gave the public a chance to see the World's Polka King entertain. Popular songs like "Wish I was single again", and "No beer in Heaven" were favorites on the jukeboxes in the 1960's. Those not familiar with the Polka Scene back then got to see who Lil Wally was and put a real face on those popular songs played over and over. I love it when he sings the lyrics in Polish and then interprets the song!!!

this is back when entertainers were entertainers. "I like to make the people happy" rarely ever hear that now..

I used to see dancers like that all the time at every single polka shindig in Chicago. Not so much any more. What a shame.
