The fines should cover the cost of enforcing the law. All the cost not just the cops time, by all I mean the station house, jail, court house, public defender, county prosecutor, the guards, and, and, and, every thing. If it cost $1000, and hr then that is what the fine should be. This day and age with computers they should be able to figure it out.

If anything, the fine required for the offense could be raised; however, adding on another punishment (in addition to a ticket) as a fine/fee/tax/penalty, etc. is violating double jeopardy, due process, equal protection, protection from cruel and excessive punishment/fines/or fees, etc.

The problem with ticketing is not so much that it encourages cops to find more people breaking traffic laws. The real problem is that cops are often more likely to pull over someone in a beat up town car than they are someone who is driving a corvette.

I also think there should be brackets for speeding tickets to that if you make a lot of money the ticket hits you just as hard as someone who makes very little.

I guess they don't take into account all the "pigs" who use the city's gas to drop their kids off at school or use the city's gas to leave their car running while there on their hour and a half lunch break to keep the a/c going to keep there cool nice and cool for their asses when they get back. Or whenever these "pigs" leave a red light or from a stop and are on the throttle 85% accelerating, wasting more and more fuel.

True when everything illegal causes people to give money to the government they have and incentive to find more illegal things. I was in court once over a bull shit ticket and you should have seen the judges face when I told him I preferred to go to jail rather than pay the ticket because when it starts costing the government money to enforce bull shit laws they will get real about them.
