I think we just ran into some killer bees today. We were boulder climbing in borrego desert today (outside San Diego, CA) and we stopped to rest under a boulder and bees slowly started coming out of nowhere. One stung my roommate and we just high tailed it out of there. If we stopped to rest, 5 would just come out of no where and start flying around us and try landing on us so we had to keep jumping from boulder to boulder without stopping to get our ass down the mountain. It was freaky.
@Dirtycris1 wft bees are faster then humans did u zone out for the hole clip an attack an come about in less then a sec and trust me they will chach up
nope humans are still the most dangerous, I have a bee suit and can buy raid/pesticide they injure and kill a few people and animals we kill the whole hive. well unless we work them lol, give me your honey bees, I would not care to work African bees though.
@OctoBox " Hello Mr. kill me with one punch !!! I'll bet you again today that I get a date with Lucy, Marry her, have a kid and go see the sea lions in Ant Arctica. "
Actually, That one scientist just made the mistake of taking them to South America, when all he had to do is being the European bee's to the queen. We wouldn't be in this mess. Only problem though is our bees are dying and now we need the Killer bees to take their place.
@Tom6093 -- Hahahaha. There was no "mistake" -- all scientist have known since the late 1800's that it is very bad to purposefully introduce insects or animals into a new ecosystem. There are 1000's of examples of where this went wrong. They did it owing to profit that was generated by gov't funding; which is an act of force. Because it is not driven solely by consumer demand and they circumvented most scientific ethics in the process.
It wasn't until the following day that I realized my close call to death. But during the swarm, I felt absolutely no fear. Because you only feel fear for something if you have no control over a situation. I had control, I was communicating with the hornets in a weird way. They released me after they figured out my intentions. So if insects can understand you, then anything is possible! When being attacked its just misscommunication.
After I repeated this slow retreating motion, the number of hornets swarming me decreased until there were only 2 left. And then they all left. Oddly I was still only 12 feet away from the nest and they still didn't find me threatening. I could still stand there watching them swam around their nest. I then ran back to my friends who were like a mile away. They were badly injured from their stings. It was pure agony. They all were shock I was alive since I was the closet to the nest.
The Hornets hovered just literally 2 inches from my face, inspecting, monitoring and waiting for my next move. It seemed to me they thought I wasn't a threat but that can change in response to my body gesture. I could hear their buzzing noise as if they were all talking about me, weather to attack or not. I then finally moved backwards only moving my legs and not any upper body movements. Slipping away in a very slow and non- treatening motion. The Hornets took this as a sign of co-operation.
But during the time the hornets swarm around me I knew they were thinking if I were a threat. If they were mindless aggressive insects they would have already stung me the moment I entered their territory. My friends who were a good 15 feet away from the nest got stung due to their sudden reaction to seeing the hornets. I however, was only inches away from the nest and I never received a sing sting. At that moment me and the Hornets had an understanding that I can't explain.
I was once swarmed by over 50 hornets afterencountering their nest. At that moment they came swarming out like thunder! The two friends with me tried to swipe and run away and each of them got stung mutiple of times. I however remained calm right next to the nest. They swarmed all over me waiting for me to make a sudden move. I just stood still and watched and after a min I slowly slipped away as they slowly followed me and directed me to my exit. I then got away without a single sting!! Miracle
Yeah i also disagree with not jumping into the water, Bee's cannot swim, it's a fact, so if you jump into the water, and swim under it as far and long as you can (try to fool them), and when you need to get up, you take 1 or 2 quick breathes, just like the olympics adn continue swiming away, you would avoid their defensive zone while protectet in water.
@casualcases Problem with that is they will wait for you to come up for air, and sting whatever exposed skin you have, no matter what. Once Africanized bees are in killing mode, they don't calm down for a day and a half.
I don't agree with not diving in water. I'm sure they would sting you when you came up but you would only need to come up for a breath or two at a time and you could splash them with it and that would probably make them unable to fly. Does anyone know if there are any in North Carolina?
If they attacked me, id run so fast they'd call me Africanised :O
