Dude, this is nice stuff. Its always nice to see this type of drumming with a spoken out cowbell or clave. BTW, i got a cowbell for my set today, so happy
I finally know how to play the beginning! check out the explain video to this groove, it´ll help a lot. I have been teaching myself how to play drums (youtube) for less than a year and I can do it. so can everyone else. ...back to playing the funk now lol
I need help here, I can´t for the world figure out the pattern of the beat and play it on my drums! how does that awesome bass drum beat at 0:04 work? and where to put the cowbell??? could someone write that down for me in beatbox pattern, like this: b ttt b pf cb...
yay, awesome!!!!watching someone explain it to me on their drums - slowly and then faster - is just how it works for me best. I´m no good at reading notation at all, it´s all about watching and hearing. is there a website for people like me?lol
hey sachamun, could you also maybe demonstrate how to play "men in love" by gossip? hope you know that, best funk beat with cowbell! the vibe of that song is amazing! would be so great! ...you know I favorited you... :)
@Diphallia I got the hang on ghost notes. it´s usually just alternating between hi-hat and snare the latter of which is played more quietly. I never knew where to hit the snare. I guess it´s just like learning how to whistle or ride the bike, lol my e-drum does do quieter hits on the snare, yay!:)
Yeah I'm quite impressed by how sensitive some of the new electronic kits are. I'd never gig with one but I'd love to get a hold of one to play around. I find the best way to practice ghost notes is to exaggerate the dynamics (volume) as much as possible. For example, a slow 8th note rock beat (very loud backbeat) with ghosts on the 16ths (very quiet - almost too quiet to hear). btw, I post drum lessons here youtube /user/schoolofmusiconline
now thats what i'm talking about. I HATE Generic Latin beats or whatever that just follow some music on a sheet like clave crap. it friggen sucks. This is some actually sweet groove.
that sound really cool i have just recently made a cow bell it doesn't exactly sound like that. But Is that tho only piece that you have of that cow bell funk?

the beginning is off the hook, I totally like ghost notes on snare. I wonder if it´s possible to play ghost notes on e drums?
jayweh 2 years ago
it probably is possible on the more expensive kits.

It's just jamming, but it's all based on the sound of the 2:3 rumba clave.
