  • But will it blend?

  • @mate2000 C

    lick the link DUH!!!

  • Multi touch table.

  • so , how to make touch screen ? what to download ?

  • GREAT way to learn piano

  • Is he imaginig he's touching some boobs or what?

  • O.o

  • Really nice, a fellow student actually created a coffecup mouse, where youre cup of coffee (as it obviously says) can be used as a mouse for the desktop. It was pretty cool but not precise like that. Good work!

  • UBUNTU!!!!

  • @daftpunkyea what does HE have to do with this?!

  • The title really says "tit, ouch"

  • SPAM.

  • awful music

  • How?

  • Y don't we evolve together it's time.... Y stay down and refuse to admit what were doing is a awesome not to mention it's our future! Lets come together we have the tools and intelligence ....It can be a very happy/peaceful journey into our newly found frontier.

  • It is using a Kinect and the source code can be found in the description of the original video at 4zXtV66cFDY

  • i am officially unsuscribing

  • love how it says to make one but missed on to say how?

  • has new scientist sold their youtube account to a retarded 5 year old?

  • i would rather buy a touch screen because that is an expencive one because its a xbox Kinect hack theres no web cam which is gay

  • what the hell happened to the narrators ?

  • @FreonBlood i miss the heartless bitch woman with no emotion, she reminds me of my ex.

  • That's not a screen. That's a TABLE.

  • Lol according to the title, it's telling you to do it on your own. XD

  • this channel is gone downhill... wtf was dat?! a little narration or smtn would be nice u know..

  • I did not learn how to build my own multi-touch screen. I only learned that someone else did.

  • @mate2000 maybe you should read the article which is linked in the description before making a total idiot of yourself.

  • @cptIdiot I read the article. That's not the problem. The problem is the video in itself does not live up to its title. How exactly am I making an idiot of myself? I was just giving a suggestion about keeping the title realistic and limited to the video. Just because they provide a simple link in the description should not allow them to do away with any explanation whatsoever, and the lack of connection between the title and the video.

  • @mate2000 wow man, that was long story... BTW the title is NOT "a Video on how to make multitouch screen". The title is giving information that you CAN make your own multitouch screen... at home because its made with kinect.

  • @cptIdiot Dude, no one cares!

  • @mate2000 well obviously you do care but you have no more arguments so you just say a general phrase in a sense "Who cares"

  • @cptIdiot Nope, I stopped caring as I have other things to do. Have it your way, just stop spamming me.

  • @mate2000 mate, i agree, as my other comment makes clear. Many rubbish this, and get semantic, but its clearly an issue, as its being debated constantly not just on this vid, but many others from NS also. Heck - its even shoved the staple and standard religion/antireligion debate from the spotlight, which takes some doing. NS is a great mag, but the yt channel certainly needs improvement at times and in places. We all love NS and just want to see it be the best it can, across all media.

  • @mate2000 lol..well said...

  • @mate2000 :) laughs, will it does say make your own.

  • There is no explanation whatsoever of how to "make your own multi touch screen". Maybe the title of the video should be "someone builds a multi-touch system using only a camera", and everyone would be happy.

  • Why is his groin red in colour all the time?

  • no need for a keyboard or mouse anymore...

  • i going unsubcribe to this channel, it a wast of time.

  • Stop stealing other peoples videos ;_;

  • here's the original video

    watch?v=4zXtV66cFDY

  • unimpressive

  • ET phone home x10

  • I think this videos neat, a lot of people keep on posting negative comments on all of the newscientistvideo recently. If it annoys you so much to watch these videos, then just don't watch them.

  • This is a showing off video other than Making your own multitouch screen matters.

  • @goldenrateable READ THE FUCKING GODDAMN BITCHIN MOTHERFUCKIN' description box.

  • @YuneShik heres how to do it !!!! JK plz visit our site so we can make money off both kk thx

  • @YuneShik not everyone reads the description, you can tell about the video by watching it, unless your deaf or something, were here to watch videos, not continuesly read text for 10 minutes...

  • @SmibsProductions If you want to know more about it but are too lazy to read, why are you even on the internet? And is there a rule where NewScientist can't do that? And you can't read for 10 minutes? And it takes you 10 minutes to read what takes about 3 minutes? And what's your fucking point? How does your comment have any relevancy to mine's?

  • @YuneShik ...

  • Sweet new way to do foreplay...

  • Wheres this music from?

  • Read the f***ing description nutsacks -.-

  • Works with pens?

  • @Sodorii

    ... and prayer.

  • I followed all your instructions.

I made the same gestures with my hands on my desk.

But the red light dots didn't appear as they did in your video.

  • Still waiting for science...

  • @jawayetti Than you need to learn what is science.

  • whats the red on their crotch

  • I think the dude that is in charge of making the titles of the videos is on vacation or these guys are using deception to get more views. If they are using deception, I'm unsubscribing!!! WHO's WITH ME!!!!!!!!

  • @KANCERII Just unsub already and quit yer bitchin.

  • @RustyCyler Get bent. Say hello to your mother for me.

  • Comment removed

  • @RustyCyler Bitchin" about bitchin is done by attention whores. Say hello to your mother for me. Im sure shes an attention whore too.

  • Read the description guys instead of complaining videos don't tell everything sometimes you have to actually read things rather then just listen now a days kind of like books..

  • A new Kinect hack lets you turn flat surfaces, such as your desktop, into a multi-touch controller.

  • this would be cool to create midi keyboards out of nothing but your desk

  • This was the same music used for the internet-hacker-jizz video. me gusto

  • ubuntu ftw

  • I'm just going to wait and see when Windows 8 comes out. Word on the street is that it may support Kinetic and this kind of thing either way.

  • oh hey, CLICK THE DESCRIPTION.

  • If somebody attempted to read the few lines article describing the video...

It says, that using another Kinect hack, it is possible to make any flat surface a multi touch controller.

Please, read the articles for New Scientist videos before commenting.

  • y'all need some new music

  • That's so cool, it means that the video that corning made is possibly true! :)

Search for "A Day Made of Glass... Made possible by Corning" in Youtube and see what our future might look like in 2020... :) This video just proves it. ;)

  • This is nothing new. Blizzard Entertainment was demonstrating this technology when Warcraft III was still being played. What was that; like 10 years ago?

  • @PennyDreadfuI supply link or you are wrong.

I seriously doubt they used several cameras to track positions of objects and surfaces in real time and used artificial neural nets, that were trained on what a "surface" is, to decide when objects came in contact with surfaces.

  • @N3CR1S How about I supply balls and you provide chin?

  • Dear god check the info guys

  • kinect.

  • Sweet! Now I can create my own multi-touch screen out of household objects! If I understood the extensive details in this video on how to build it, all I need is 159 dildos and a bucket of KFC!

  • @Markgb3 .....all set, just need the KFC bucket now.

  • @Markgb3 well, i think the kind of channel appropriate for you is the one of the stupid household hackers. For science you need to be a little more diligent and observant. You need to click the link in the description of the video and read the blog there. And then, once you have got the idea, you can of course make one of your own... but you need to be able to use the opensource computer vision software libraries. It's called "make your own", not "it will make itself by its own for you".

  • @Markgb3 It's called fucking "reading the description." This shit's getting too old. They have had goddamn articles associated with the video for almost every goddamn one of them.

  • @Markgb3 yay

  • @Markgb3 Or you could read the blog post on the new scientist web site.

  • @WhichDoctor1 Reading is for squares, irrational accusations is the way to go!

  • at 0:25 it missed the right pinky finger.

  • so how to make it ????

  • these new scientists sure suck at definitions.

  • virtual keyboards here we come!

  • nice!!

  • hah! seems this is yet another vid from newscientist that has accidently been mis-titled. either that, or I'm missing something...?

  • @jeebersjumpincryst

Eh, it's basically a software patch that uses kinect to identify when you touch a surface then sends the data to your PC.

  • @lolocaustism thankyou :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst Try looking in the description, you might find something

  • @jeebersjumpincryst yea it is totaly missing a discription... oh wait there actualy is one! READ IT you idiot!

  • @XtremMortz thankyou :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst maybe a brain...

  • @jeebersjumpincryst Did you nor understand? its not an actual "screen", but it has the functionality of a multitouch screen, and it seams it would work on any flat surface. coupled to a projector, or if you use your screen as the flat surface, this would be an actual "multitouch screen".

Did you understand? if not, then just ask.

  • @N3CR1S thanks :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst They are using their kinetic (from xbox) to turn their table (the part in the box) into a touch screen.

  • @wickedfire0 thankyou wickedfire :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst it's systemic and intentional

  • @hens0w i thought so too :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst Yes, you're missing the link on the description. Idiot.

  • @Azarathos thankyou azarathos :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst you're missing that the videos are usually just teasers to the articles linked in the description

  • @jeebersjumpincryst Once you have got the idea, you can of course make one of your own... but you need to be able to use the opensource computer vision software libraries, etc. Note that it's titled "make your own...", and not "it will make itself by its own for you...".

  • @subh1 lol - thanks :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst try reading the article maybe?

  • @jeebersjumpincryst every dot on the fingers represents what the computer is tracking, that is data that can be used instead of mouseclicks

  • @IamHueGraves thanks Hue. btw, is Graves yr actual sirname? I ask cause its unusual, and mine is almost identical, save for one less letter :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst Hue Graves is an anagram of my real name that I use as an alias

  • @IamHueGraves ahhh. thanks for reply, and gotta say - good job with the anagram!

  • @jeebersjumpincryst Yes, you are missing something. Look in the description...

  • @thomasjamesfoster96 thanks thomas :)

  • @jeebersjumpincryst Yeah, NewScientist is actually a magazine. Go read the article that is linked in the description of every video and they will all make sense.

  • @jeebersjumpincryst Yeah you are; the link in the description.

  • @asaw1994 yeah, thanks. I wont miss another, thats for sure! I dont really like the style though, and it seems Im not alone in thinking that. People would be rightly indignant, or downright furious, if i posted a random, fuzzy, effect laden 49sec clip titled "answer to everything you ever needed or wanted to know" with a link to google search page in the description. It would be pointless and misleading, and I'd be silly to expect high praise, glowing reviews and forests of thumbs up.

  • @jeebersjumpincryst No problem. I hate this channel these days anyway, used to be cool though.

  • RAVE RAVE RAVE!

  • cool
