Really nice, a fellow student actually created a coffecup mouse, where youre cup of coffee (as it obviously says) can be used as a mouse for the desktop. It was pretty cool but not precise like that. Good work!
Y don't we evolve together it's time.... Y stay down and refuse to admit what were doing is a awesome not to mention it's our future! Lets come together we have the tools and intelligence ....It can be a very happy/peaceful journey into our newly found frontier.
@cptIdiot I read the article. That's not the problem. The problem is the video in itself does not live up to its title. How exactly am I making an idiot of myself? I was just giving a suggestion about keeping the title realistic and limited to the video. Just because they provide a simple link in the description should not allow them to do away with any explanation whatsoever, and the lack of connection between the title and the video.
@mate2000 wow man, that was long story... BTW the title is NOT "a Video on how to make multitouch screen". The title is giving information that you CAN make your own multitouch screen... at home because its made with kinect.
@mate2000 mate, i agree, as my other comment makes clear. Many rubbish this, and get semantic, but its clearly an issue, as its being debated constantly not just on this vid, but many others from NS also. Heck - its even shoved the staple and standard religion/antireligion debate from the spotlight, which takes some doing. NS is a great mag, but the yt channel certainly needs improvement at times and in places. We all love NS and just want to see it be the best it can, across all media.
There is no explanation whatsoever of how to "make your own multi touch screen". Maybe the title of the video should be "someone builds a multi-touch system using only a camera", and everyone would be happy.
I think this videos neat, a lot of people keep on posting negative comments on all of the newscientistvideo recently. If it annoys you so much to watch these videos, then just don't watch them.
@YuneShik not everyone reads the description, you can tell about the video by watching it, unless your deaf or something, were here to watch videos, not continuesly read text for 10 minutes...
@SmibsProductions If you want to know more about it but are too lazy to read, why are you even on the internet? And is there a rule where NewScientist can't do that? And you can't read for 10 minutes? And it takes you 10 minutes to read what takes about 3 minutes? And what's your fucking point? How does your comment have any relevancy to mine's?
I think the dude that is in charge of making the titles of the videos is on vacation or these guys are using deception to get more views. If they are using deception, I'm unsubscribing!!! WHO's WITH ME!!!!!!!!
Read the description guys instead of complaining videos don't tell everything sometimes you have to actually read things rather then just listen now a days kind of like books..
That's so cool, it means that the video that corning made is possibly true! :)
Search for "A Day Made of Glass... Made possible by Corning" in Youtube and see what our future might look like in 2020... :) This video just proves it. ;)
This is nothing new. Blizzard Entertainment was demonstrating this technology when Warcraft III was still being played. What was that; like 10 years ago?
I seriously doubt they used several cameras to track positions of objects and surfaces in real time and used artificial neural nets, that were trained on what a "surface" is, to decide when objects came in contact with surfaces.
Sweet! Now I can create my own multi-touch screen out of household objects! If I understood the extensive details in this video on how to build it, all I need is 159 dildos and a bucket of KFC!
@Markgb3 well, i think the kind of channel appropriate for you is the one of the stupid household hackers. For science you need to be a little more diligent and observant. You need to click the link in the description of the video and read the blog there. And then, once you have got the idea, you can of course make one of your own... but you need to be able to use the opensource computer vision software libraries. It's called "make your own", not "it will make itself by its own for you".
@Markgb3 It's called fucking "reading the description." This shit's getting too old. They have had goddamn articles associated with the video for almost every goddamn one of them.
@jeebersjumpincryst Did you nor understand? its not an actual "screen", but it has the functionality of a multitouch screen, and it seams it would work on any flat surface. coupled to a projector, or if you use your screen as the flat surface, this would be an actual "multitouch screen".
@jeebersjumpincryst Once you have got the idea, you can of course make one of your own... but you need to be able to use the opensource computer vision software libraries, etc. Note that it's titled "make your own...", and not "it will make itself by its own for you...".
@jeebersjumpincryst Yeah, NewScientist is actually a magazine. Go read the article that is linked in the description of every video and they will all make sense.
@asaw1994 yeah, thanks. I wont miss another, thats for sure! I dont really like the style though, and it seems Im not alone in thinking that. People would be rightly indignant, or downright furious, if i posted a random, fuzzy, effect laden 49sec clip titled "answer to everything you ever needed or wanted to know" with a link to google search page in the description. It would be pointless and misleading, and I'd be silly to expect high praise, glowing reviews and forests of thumbs up.
