Leonard Lopate is a little too interested in hearing himself. He always railroads a good potential answer so he can chime in on it somehow and show that he's on top of it. He can be incredibly tedious. Regular noon-to-two daily show on WNYC -- one tunes in to hear the guests and hopes he doesn't stampede the guest too much.
He has a deeply more talented brother, Philip, a very good writer. I think he's compensating for it.
The two most exemplary actress, both stage and screen, of the last 50+ years. Both are so versatile and everything they do is a gem. I wish Dame Maggie would do more interviews . . . .
Judi Dench and Maggie Smith are adorable! I am 15 years old an from Germany, and actually I really do know and love them! And I have no doubt that these two and Helen Mirren belong to the greatest actresses all time! and they are so down to earth and beautiful!
Lovely listening to Maggie and Judi; the interviewer is rubbish though. Instead of latching onto their answers, and getting them to expand their responses he moves onto a totally different question all the time.
A new DVD entitled Maggie Smith at the BBC has recently been released, which sounds great. Unfortunately the release seems to have been marred by idiocies: 1.) It's not available in the UK (even though Maggie is British) and it omits the BBC production of Memento Mori, in which is contained one of Maggie's "funniest performances" according to her biographer. Insane.
I couldn't agree more with you. I was amazed with this BBC special set but, alas, it's only released in America: a total idiocy!
I bought that Maggie Smith thing at Costco in America, The only time that I was happy to live here. I really do think it should be in the UK. That's stupid.
MI6 agent chief and a Hogwart's professor? Seems like an unstoppable bunch.

I love it when Maggie says something witty and Judy would crack up.

I can't believe he cut Dame Maggie off at 7:56! Ironic he's talking about directors who don't interact with their actors.

At least they can act, they are not playing themselves like most American actors do today, they just play themselves.
