In these cases I think they should have TWO interim fights. If the disputed champ doesn't return then there will be a very clear undisputed champ in the third fight. If the disputed champ does return then you already have 2 title defenses lined up!

Had the rules been in place before the match, GSP would have still beaten the shit out of Penn. He didn't train, for one, and for another, GSP has improved his game immensely in the past couple of years.

Sean Sherpp tested positive for steroids and STILL lost to BJ. Bj has been doing martial arts since he was born basically, and he works very very hard. You can't determine if a fighter is juicing based on their physique. Tim Sylvia was a steroid user. Josh Barnett failed multiple drug tests now and he doesn't have a "ripped steroid physique".

They changed the rules to avoid the issue entirely, not because anything was wrong with GSPs victory. And to come out and accuse GSP of using steroids like he did is lame and pathetic. GSP gets tested all the time.
Had the rules been in place before the match, GSP would have still beaten the shit out of Penn. He didn't train, for one, and for another, GSP has improved his game immensely in the past couple of years.
