  • love it

  • just an IDL

  • Ah 'only' basic jits will win you fights!?!? Er... Aoki?!? Gogo from the mount basic, dude guys get subbed with all sorts of weird shit in real fights, basics are very important but so is having a few tricks up your sleeve!!

Any thing that u can make work is worth learning!!

  • yes...falling backwards is even worse. Not the easiest hold to apply, but once it is on properly, total pain for the person on the receiving end, and really no way of escaping, other than the tap.

  • Nice move!!

  • i too am a bjj practitioner, i agree about the fundamentals being much higher percentage moves, but this works if u r stuck in someone's lockdown. it might be hard to get at first, so wait for his whip up. then hop up and put his lockdown to good use.

this move is called the indian death lock. very popular. and a very good move, also is copoeira move, and the old fashioned hug his hips and sprawl to break the lockdown and move to side control.

    anyways fundamentals are important. peace

  • you guys should watch my jiu jitsu video. Also great move. Its an inverted STF

  • No one with a half decent half guard is just gonna let you stand like that. Its a good idea but it will not work.

  • i did try this move with a guy but he just claimed no pain i was so imbarassed

  • Seams like the guy bottom the bottom would be able to sit up and reverse if he felt it coming. Good move though I'm going to try to use it.

  • worked on this yesterday..it works very well...if you do it fast enugh to not get connected w/ a punch when you try to stand. very nice move tho.

  • if one does not have double under hooks or at least some sort of control of the opponents body then this move is legit..but i will never nor will anyone properly trained in the 10th planet system do a lock down with out some sort of upper body control .

  • Someone did this move on me and It didn't work. He's a purple belt in bjj and I'm a blue belt. But that's cos i knew what he was doing. lol

Good technique though. I've seen this from Rigan Machado the first time.

  • This is why you never "lockdown" when you have someone in half gaurd...

  • yea but ur only ever gonna catch someone with this once, after that they either won't let u stand up, or they will unlock their legs before u can stand, it's a kinda gimmicky move

  • Yes, your are correct...you have to do this very, very quickly. It is a what we call a low percentage submission in Brazil...still a very good move to have in your arsenal

  • Only need to submit them once, surely!

  • what are talking about never lock down, there's an entire series of moves and transitions you can do from the lock down. The conventional half guard works but you need to open your mind to other unconventional techniques. Search 10th planet or eddie bravo before you make comments about techniques you know nothing about.

  • Have you ever competed or trained in bjj? Obviously not. If somebody tries to lock me down, i'm sending them to the hospital with a compound foot fracture. I don't need to search 10th planet or whatever...I train at Gracie Humaita in Rio de Janeiro so don't tell me what I don't know...or get your foot broken by me or my training partners...dumb americans...hope you don't lose your house shithead

  • doesnt matter where you train, wow gracie humaita thats impressive. Dude 10th planet and the lock down is out of the box thinking wich obviously you don't do. Sorry Callowayman but the move sucks it'll will never work, maybe against you it will work but not anyone half way decent. Your just a brazilian chump that likes to shit on the internet. Id rather lose my house than live in a poor ass third world country like brazil.

  • Out of the box thinking won't win tournaments or keep you alive in a real fight - only basic, fundamental bjj. There are too many other options from half gaurd (sweeps, submissions)besides "locking down" opponents. I invite to come to my "poor" third world country and learn some humility and respect. BTW it won't be long before America joins us in the gutter.

  • If thats what you think, then do it. fundamentals are always a must, but thinking out of the box is what helps the sport develop. Humility your the one that said americans are dumb and that I lose my home, I think you need a lesson in humility. Good luck with your fundamentals, your just like many others that are stuck in the past and dont want to advance the sport. if it doesnt come from brazil I guess you cant win a tournament or fight.

  • I think it was you who suggested that I knew "nothing" (I've been training 7 years) instead of intelligently arguing your point. I've seen plenty of people picking the "newest and greatest" techniques only to get tapped or positionally dominated by someone who has a firm grasp of basic, fundamental bjj. Just watch any championship black belt match. I guess there is no place for us "old school" practitioners in the future of bjj

  • blah blah blah, no one cares how long you've been training. like i said fundamentals are a must but once know fundamentals then what, you old school jiu jitsu is boring. Good luck with your old school moves that everyone know's and can counter. Sorry guy jiu jitsu like every other sport is progressing your just stuck in the past like the Gracie's. Since your so intelligent I'd would have expected some out of the box thinking from you, but a I guess your not as smart as you think.

  • Good luck with your bs gimmicky moves that you tapped like a baby. Guys like you make great practice dummies for me at my gym. Boring..yes winning does get boring. I'm not saying that innovation is bad. It's actually great, but just to come to me gym with some horseshit you saw on the internet and claim to be an expert...it's all about time on the mat...something you must not know anything about

  • sure your gym is the best and your the best, you just keep thinking that. Im sure you can tap everyone your the best, and your a winner. Good luck buddy I wish you and your school all the best. Now im gonna go to my gym and try this move.

  • You go ahead dude, no one cares about your opinion including me. I'm going to continue training...obviously i need the work because I'm just some poor, stupid, closed-minded Brazilian right?...whatever buddy...i sick of this pointless conversation and won't be responding further

  • ROFL

  • You two sound so cute together.

  • oh wow... INTERNET FIGHT!!!

    FINISH HIM!

  • holy shit! this variation rocks!

  • What if you perform this move and accidentally fall backwards? Ouch!

  • LMAO! This is sooooo simple.....but still, i gotta try to pull that one out next training, just for fun! :P

  • This will only work on a white belt. Only a white belt would apply that lock incorrectly, like your friend in the video. His legs should be stretched out.

  • Because the first amaerican to be a shooto champ is SO inexperieced right?

  • The tech is called an Standing Indian Death lock and I use it in the half guard on BJJ on the time, when they stretch out their legs I know a few even meaner. There is no safe position. catch rules!

  • Yeah, the leg position is what the call, "The lock down". Eddie Bravo uses this term and position all the time in half guard. Erik did this exact counter on me last week and it's not fun. Gotta love Catch Wrestling.

  • my friend tried this to me once. didnt make me tap. its probably cuz im flexible, but i couldnt untangle my legs, which was hilarious.

  • that is awesome. Gonna try that one. I just subscribed to your channel. This Paulson guy has wicked solutions to grappling situations..Cant weight to bust these out on the mat.
