I read that the average s197 mustang gt owner is 32 years old anyway. I saw it in consumer reports a few years ago.

RWD FTW. Hell, they call the Cobalt SS/xx the Camaro Killer, but in a straight-up drag the Camaro eats the 'balt solely for the fact that it's RWD. I have an SS/SC, and with no traction control, you have to launch at 2200 RPM just to stop the tires from mangling themselves.
Still, for about 10-15k less than a sport-package 'stang, with better fuel efficiency and lighter weight, I definitely would still take my 'balt over a Mustang.
@guyd37 mines a supercharged cobalt. It a few minor things done to it and makes 245 and 225 on the dyno.
With a 0-60 of 5.5 and the mustang having a 0-60 of 5.0 yet running the same quarter mile, I think we all can see which car is faster overall. RWD>FWD off the line but I still have a better P/W ratio and pwn

Mustangs are known for parasitic loss through the tranny (I own one so I know man) so that 300 rated hp turns into around 280 at the wheels. Do that math homie. I have dyno sheets proving my 245 hp. just a word of advice for the mustang..im not tryin to tell you how to drive your car or anything..but if you have street tires i suggest going around the water box and doing a little burnout to the line..that way your tires dont get hot it just cleans them off..you will have a better start that way..but if you have a drag radial or slick...light those babies up!!
Rewatch the vid, and look a bit closer... You can see that I actually do go around the water box... then back up till i'm almost AT the water (to give me some room before the line) and do a small burnout to the line as you just stated. Thanks for the advice though...

I've seen some others running higher, but I would not run higher personally unless some other modifications were done, and unless I could afford any repercussions... I take the safer road (if there is such a thing in dragging...)

2005 Supercharged Cobalt = 205 HP STOCK (you yourself say 245)
2007 Mustang GT = 300 HP STOCK (I can get around 315 - 320)

just a word of advice for the mustang..im not tryin to tell you how to drive your car or anything..but if you have street tires i suggest going around the water box and doing a little burnout to the line..that way your tires dont get hot it just cleans them off..you will have a better start that way..but if you have a drag radial or slick...light those babies up!!
