Hey, anyone else realize they never actually mention Tidus by name? EVER? Understandable since in X, you choose his name, but in this game...Is it possible that that's an unspoken plot point for the game, involving the Fayth, and a certain character introduced later on whose names starts with an S?

@Ultra441 I really don't. Final Fantasy XII was boring as hell, and I couldn't get into it at all despite my best efforts. And then Final Fantasy XIII came along, and it was all flashy and impressive, but ultimately hollow and a waste of time. As a result of those two "successes" I've decided to avoid all new Final Fantasy games, since I'm expecting more of the same. ESPECIALLY from anything else bearing the FF13 name.

I never understood why people don't like this one, it's closest to the original since the SNES versions... 7 wasn't that good imho, way overrated. My favourite is still 9, it just gave me a warm feeling when I played it th first time, this is also one of my favourites.

And the main characters being female shouldn't affect people's judgement either. Nothing wrong with a female lead, and it doesn't mean the work in question is "just for girls". I recently watched the first two Alien movies again. They have a female lead. Are they "just for girls"? :p
in my opinion, this game was made mainly for girls kinda to give the series a balance i guess. cause almost every game except 6 i think you play as a male character so i think this gives the male protagonist a break for a bit

I can see why some people don't like this game, but I really do. If you pay attention, there's a solid story here -- not Vegnagun, but Yuna's personal journey. The theme comes out in the main villain's motivations and in many of the sidequests, and is even foreshadowed in X, if you think about Yu Yevon's reason for creating Sin in the first place.
And then that damn "good ending" undercuts the whole thing. The so-called good ending is a very bad ending from a dramatic standpoint.
When I play this, I always earn the "good ending" and then choose "It's for the best" when offered. Yuna's line when you do that is, well, it's kind of beautiful.
@YugSihtTsuj You've nailed exactly what I like about the game's plot. Yeah, on the surface it's all J-pop fluff, but deep down, this is the tale of a girl's journey to grow and learn to move on from personal tragedy. Also, she spent the first game being sheltered by her guardians, this game shows her getting out into the world on her own terms, making her own decisions.
This is why I too prefer the "bad" ending. It shows a Yuna that's progressed and is ready to move on. It feels more mature.

Oh shoot, I remember when I was obsessed over the opening cutscene of this game. I was a dumb little 14-year-old and I saw Yuna and noticed how much she looked like this one girl in my orchestra class. I had a huge crush on that girl so I went around looking at pictures of Yuna. Thinking back now, I can't believe how retarded and obsessive I was back then...
Oh well, this time I'm here for the game, since I watched NintendoCaprisun LP FFX and I want to see supposedly how bad FFX-2 is.
The only reason I have tried twice to enjoy this game but got to damn frustrated was the damn jumping while running around. I really wanted to like this game, but i just can't get past that, it is to annoying

I can't complete the stage I'm currently on because of these god damn things always kill me before I can reach the next save point.

I didn't really like this game, it probably has something to do with the name. If it wasn't FF X-2 then that might have changed my perspective seeing that i was expecting something more like FF X. I would probably really enjoy this game if i were to play it without comparing it to the other.
I prefer this over many of the final fantasy games, with the exception of final fantasy 6 because it had Kefka (Only real badguy ever in Final Fantasy that didn't need anything more than a theme song going to get the blood running before he even waltzed into the spotlight.) But the Dresssphere idea has always enchanted me.

Oddly enough, I've never gotten subtitles for this cut scene every time I start a new game. Maybe it's just that the UK version has subs for this part & the US version doesn't lol
True it's not a very serious game, but that's the whole point of it. It's just fun ^_^ And there are times when you want to play something that lets you take a break from a 100+ hour storyline. That's not to say I don't like or appriciate those kinds of games.
Oh won't deny, it's a goofy game, but the simple fact that it knows how goofy it is does a lot to recommend it. I like stuff that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Anyways about the ectstasy thing even now when i play this game i still overlook that i just treated it like any other item in the game but after hearing this sometimes just fo shits and giggles i start a new game and get to that point just so i can make a joke out of it.
Ink me that "certain type of girl", color me whatever you want, but I love this game, the outfits, the concept, the characters and the option of a happily-ever-after ending or a bittersweet tragic ending.
Althought, this game was a little confusing for a bit at the start because I played this before I played X. I soon caught on, then after playing X it was a lot clearer. THEN I played Kingdom Hearts 2 and my mind was fucked up again! (You all know what I'm talking about.)
@Namimarru Don't worry, the "certain kind of girl" I suggested would be the only ones interested in this aren't the only girls I really expect to enjoy this (to truly think that would be stupid). It is a very enjoyable, very solid game underneath the cheese and the fluff which, to be fair, makes the game that little bit more fun.
And I don't know what you're talking about because I've never touched the Kingdom Hearts series with a ten foot barge pole :p
@Bobthepetferret Afterall, you can't have a square game without cheese and fluff. Even Final Fantasy VII included some pretty unexpectedly humorous and cheesey parts.
Oh, and what I mean by my last statement is in Kingdom Hearts 2 an appearance of YRP is included, but this time around they are 5-inch-sized faeries that try to steal treasures from you and are basically useless cameos, besides the crappy weapon they give you at the end of an optionally-triggered cutscene.

what i like about this game is that im almost positive that the audience in the opening thought they were at a metallic concert and that there cheering on the girls who are beaten the shot outta the guards. also great name bob the pet ferret its glorious in all its glory
@Bobthepetferret if you get 100% completion then theres a secret ending when tidus comes back. but its kinda difficult to get 100% if been playing for a long LONG time and only got 70% completed.

@Bobthepetferret the bad ending(needless to say what it equires) is the one where his ghost pops up the good ending where u must like talk to that scholar and listen to what he says every time he shows up in the game(cant press x while hes talking),when yuna is in the farplane continiusly press x to trigger 4 whistle and when they are in the after f boss part keep presing x so she whistle again and trigger a cutscene and revive him and the perfect do the 100%(1 extra cutscene that the good not)
I like this game alot to. X was my favorited and the ending made me depressed. not the ending itself but the fact that the game ended so I was so glad for this. but I just couldn't finish it. in like the final chapter I got in soooo many random fights and one would die and I'd have to bring her back and one or two things would happen. 1.the girl useing the item died or 2.I bring back the downed girl with low hp and they die again and I'm stuck in an endless loop.

If you walked to the side of the while chasing down the Fake Yuna, you'll find Yuna in a moogle costume who'll heal you when you try to talk to her.
Also Yuna's costume is actually a rendered outfit of Jecht's outfit from FFX.
I honestly liked the game despite the criticism it receive.
The battle system is something I preferred compared to FFX.

I didn't really like this game, it probably has something to do with the name. If it wasn't FF X-2 then that might have changed my perspective seeing that i was expecting something more like FF X. I would probably really enjoy this game if i were to play it without comparing it to the other.

I prefer this over many of the final fantasy games, with the exception of final fantasy 6 because it had Kefka (Only real badguy ever in Final Fantasy that didn't need anything more than a theme song going to get the blood running before he even waltzed into the spotlight.) But the Dresssphere idea has always enchanted me.

Oddly enough, I've never gotten subtitles for this cut scene every time I start a new game. Maybe it's just that the UK version has subs for this part & the US version doesn't lol

True it's not a very serious game, but that's the whole point of it. It's just fun ^_^ And there are times when you want to play something that lets you take a break from a 100+ hour storyline. That's not to say I don't like or appriciate those kinds of games.

Oh won't deny, it's a goofy game, but the simple fact that it knows how goofy it is does a lot to recommend it. I like stuff that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Anyways about the ectstasy thing even now when i play this game i still overlook that i just treated it like any other item in the game but after hearing this sometimes just fo shits and giggles i start a new game and get to that point just so i can make a joke out of it.

Ink me that "certain type of girl", color me whatever you want, but I love this game, the outfits, the concept, the characters and the option of a happily-ever-after ending or a bittersweet tragic ending.
Althought, this game was a little confusing for a bit at the start because I played this before I played X. I soon caught on, then after playing X it was a lot clearer. THEN I played Kingdom Hearts 2 and my mind was fucked up again! (You all know what I'm talking about.)

@Namimarru Don't worry, the "certain kind of girl" I suggested would be the only ones interested in this aren't the only girls I really expect to enjoy this (to truly think that would be stupid). It is a very enjoyable, very solid game underneath the cheese and the fluff which, to be fair, makes the game that little bit more fun.
And I don't know what you're talking about because I've never touched the Kingdom Hearts series with a ten foot barge pole :p

@Bobthepetferret Afterall, you can't have a square game without cheese and fluff. Even Final Fantasy VII included some pretty unexpectedly humorous and cheesey parts.
Oh, and what I mean by my last statement is in Kingdom Hearts 2 an appearance of YRP is included, but this time around they are 5-inch-sized faeries that try to steal treasures from you and are basically useless cameos, besides the crappy weapon they give you at the end of an optionally-triggered cutscene.

@Markel1970A My point was that a lot of people viewed it as "Final Fantasy: Let's Play Dress-Up!", making it "for girls". And at the end of the day, I don't believe any game is "just for girls" or "just for boys" except maybe the Imagine series, but who really cares about those?

@Bobthepetferret if you get 100% completion then theres a secret ending when tidus comes back. but its kinda difficult to get 100% if been playing for a long LONG time and only got 70% completed.

@Bobthepetferret the bad ending(needless to say what it equires) is the one where his ghost pops up the good ending where u must like talk to that scholar and listen to what he says every time he shows up in the game(cant press x while hes talking),when yuna is in the farplane continiusly press x to trigger 4 whistle and when they are in the after f boss part keep presing x so she whistle again and trigger a cutscene and revive him and the perfect do the 100%(1 extra cutscene that the good not)

I like this game alot to. X was my favorited and the ending made me depressed. not the ending itself but the fact that the game ended so I was so glad for this. but I just couldn't finish it. in like the final chapter I got in soooo many random fights and one would die and I'd have to bring her back and one or two things would happen. 1.the girl useing the item died or 2.I bring back the downed girl with low hp and they die again and I'm stuck in an endless loop.
