  • My uncle lived on Gov island with his family. So when we went to visit him in NY we stayed on the island back in 95 I loved it on the island it was so fun as a kid. They had a burger king, bowling ally, a park with a big slide, and as a child It was safe to play outside.

  • I remember when the burger king first opened!! I miss the pool. Country store, fog horn alley the smell from the sea wall, the stair cases, coast guard day, everyone would be blessed to have stayed there

  • I lived in 877 4th floor

  • I was born in new york and grew up on Governor's Island in later (November 10) that same year that this video was shot. my most favorite part was going on the boats, the cutters and the ferries, my older brother did not like the ferries, he wouldn't even get out of my moms car while on one of them. I went to P.S. 26 there in the final two years 95-96. I lived in Building 877. Thanks for showing this video.

  • That was my old playground!! I miss building 111. We were there from 88 to 93. Thanks for the memories and showing the Dallas. My dad was a c.o. on that ship during that time :)

  • I am very thankful that I have memories as a kid growing up on the island. Thank you for posting this.

  • The 716! My father was on that ship back in the early 70's. He was the engine room chief. I ran the streets of the Island at six years old. Thanks for the memories!

  • Thank you for sharing your videos. I used to live there and had to move when they closed down the island. I would love to go back take a tour and have a trip down "memory lane"
