I would so go to a bulk barn or a Costco and get like 10,000 cola nuts for $200 or something. Get it on a crate and wrap that shit in brown paper. Just to see what the fucker would do. I followed your god damn instructions to the letter. Where's my kidnapped band?
oh and the bass is fuckin sublime on this song and the part with the accordian or whatever thats whats so good about this band they always have some toned down part before this fuckin epic explosian of awsomeniss like in cosmonuat my favorite song thers a little pause before hes like yeah ga ga ga ga ga ga yea yea yeah yea
if you dig this, go check out "this love feels like a heart attack" or "dial b for bewilderment" by pack of wolves from austria. they're awesome, too!
I really don't see why people feel the need to argue about ATDI and TMV and who's better. They're really both excellent, and let's face it: Omar and Cedric are fantastic musicians, so they'd pretty much be awesome in any band together.
the more i listen to Volta albums, the more i realize that at the drive-in's Relationship of Command was far superior than anything the Volta released after Deloused in the Commatorium. im not sure wht the mars volta is trying to achieve, but i dont think you can call it "music" or "brilliant" anymore, there's too much experimentation going on. at the drive in had better songs.
shame on you for saying "too much experimentation", expressing yourself to the extent of your musical capabilities is the whole point in my opinion. i agree that deloused was their best, however i feel as though they were trying to fit a genre with ATDI whereas TMV is more of a free expression of themselves. the musicians that are the mars volta have far surpassed the cumulative talent of ATDI.
"Hello, mother leopard. I have your cub. You must protect her, but that will be expensive. 10,000 cola nuts, wrapped in brown paper. Midnight, behind the box. I'll be the hyena, you'll see."
That's 'Kola' nut, as in Coca & Kola; the 2 main ingredients of the original "Coca~Cola". I'm pretty sure they're native to Africa and are used in shamanic medicine there. Presumably you're aware of what Coca is...
@myworld559 Me and my friends still quote this all the time. I got this album shortly after it came out in 1999 or 2000. Over 10 years old, hard to believe!
Iggy Pop: Godfather of Punk, car insurance shill and eccentric kidnapper.
The man's got one hell of a résumé.

Cola nuts are testicals removed from the body and soaked in carbonated liquid sugar. A delicacy in Brittan but very common in America.

@ShinyHeartDiary Ive noticed most things by them and tmv do give a story, you just have to know what its about for it to make sense. its a bit odd

I think if they made an album after Relationship of Command a lot of it would sound similar to Enfilade.

Ps Iggy Pop did the vocals on that.
